Sealed Event #1 Decktech

Match 1

Match 2+ Unfortunately magic players in this event decided they want to play at a reasonable speed . I came back from my in-between round break to find that I had been dropped due to activity. C'est la vie, it was still worth it. (Note to self: be more careful)

Sealed Event #2 Decktech

Match 1

Match 2

Match 3

Match 4 - Split

One last note, I've been trying a magic show variant for spikes. This was my first attempt, all criticisms are welcome.

As always, I welcome constructive criticism on the above video article; as well as input on what you desire from my future articles.

Thank you for your time.

Your vlog series is pretty awesome. I look forward to it every week.

I also like the format of the Magic Tournament Show. It seems video editing and formatting are among your skills. Good work. If I had anything to offer in terms of constructive criticism, it would be to slow down a little. Your commentary goes very quickly in this one, and it is hard to process what was just said before you move on to the next topic. Also, since this is for "spikes", you could feature a deck of your own with an explanation of why and how you think it attacks the metagame. Something like TwinPod. I know you featured it in a vlog, but breaking down your list and what you expect to face would be at least interesting.

Just my opinion.

Ridiculous pool for the first by greyes3 at Wed, 08/03/2011 - 13:13

Ridiculous pool for the first sealed. Haven't watched the second but I'll try to later today. I thought Azure Mage attacking into Elite Vanguard was ugly. CL is a great player, so overall well done.

Your Spike-cast was very by char49d at Wed, 08/03/2011 - 15:42

Your Spike-cast was very professionally done, but it needs a little more polish in the vocal presentation. I personally don't like Evan Erwin's corny jokes, but he has a genuine enthusiasm (or incredibly good manufactured enthusiasm) that engages the listener and makes them interested in what he is saying. You, on the other hand, sound like someone trying to speak clearly and quickly into a microphone.

You need to create some sort of unique style and make it your own. Erwin has corny jokes and enthusiasm, LSV loves puns, Conley Woods sings in his videos to fill air time and is generally goofy - you get the idea. I have no idea what attributes you are good at infusing your videos with, that is for you to figure out. Just make sure it isn't monotony.

Agree with this. Your own by RoninX at Wed, 08/03/2011 - 19:36

Agree with this. Your own style comes with practice and you are just starting, but in your casts even your cadence has sounded like you are aping Erwin. This is in contrast to your play vids which you already seem to have your own voice in.

Great work as usual by LostAlone at Wed, 08/03/2011 - 17:09

Interesting to see core set sealed playing out. I kinda figured you'd be hitting the blue pretty heavily, but it was kinda crazy to see you crack two Jace's in two sealed pools. Wish I had that luck! It's good to see that milling is a viable option. I've always been a fan of attacking the library, especially in limited. As you said, bombs are what wins the majority of games, and you have a good chance to strip them out without any chance to cast them. My most successful limited tournament a few years back during TSP had great success running a lot of wistful thinkings and piracy/funeral charms, keeping the other guys hand empty until I could nuke the board, hit bitter ordeal and take everything worth playing out the deck. Good times!

I'm liking the new show, although I agree you may wanna try and spice it up a little. It's really nice to just get the metagame at a glance, but it'd be nice to get some more analysis and such like. I know you've covered most of the current decks fairly recently, but once Standard starts getting more diverse and there are new decks, it'd be nice for you to just do a quick deck tech on them.
