When I took a break from Magic after Innistrad was released, I wanted to focus on the World of Warcraft trading card game (not the best decision but the game was fun!) my girlfriend (boo) my school work (hooray) and my son (hooray again!).  I was disenchanted with the game and needed some time off.  Had it not been for two things happening, I may still be away from the game, and just watching the growth and record tournament attendance figures from the comfort of my computer chair.

It's actually not that comfortable at all.

Had it not been for my friends Andy and Will roping me back into this game around the same time M13 came out I may have never remembered how much fun I had casting Rancor.  Rancor is probably my most favorite magic card of all time, and I smile whenever I get to put the aura on one of my random guys.  In fact, the last PTQ I had intended on playing in, I played the mono green deck that Carrie Oliver championed last year.  Of course we lost guys like Dungrove Elder Bellowing Tanglewurm and Llanowar Elves.  We lost powerful spells in Green Sun's Zenith and Sword of War and Peace but do not worry we've got replacements!

If you want to consider Wolfir Avenger and Deadbridge Goliath as replacements that is!

Outside the Deckbox focuses on decks that do not see much play.  If you wanted to read and watch Prime Speaker Bant in action, I suggest you check out some of Adam Prosak's stream recordings.  He is dreamy!  I'm looking for decks that fly under the radar and could attack the format, and most importantly find decks that fit what I think is fun.  Casting Rancor is one of the most fun things one can do in the standard format I think.  With that said let's take a look at the decklist that recently 4-0'd a daily event and the reason for my writing this article and recording these videos!  After the videos are over I will take a look at any changes to the list that I would consider.  Of course the comment section will be on for you all to add input and maybe we can make a deck take off!

It's a pretty fun list, and has been playing well for me in the two man queues.  It's quick, consistent, and cheap to boot!  I think I traded a pauper deck (the Bogle deck for those wondering) for the bulk of the rares that I did not have already and Predator Ooze was the most expensive card in the deck. The deck has started to get some attention as well.  Melissa DeTora wrote about a version that did well in a tcgplayer.com event and it's popped up on MTGO every so often as well.

With that said here are some videos for the deck I hope you enjoy them!

Match Five

Overall Record 3-2

That record could have been better.  I feel like I played poorly against the Naya deck and was tilted by cards that I was not familiar seeing in the deck.  I think in the hands of a player who was not rattled, or feeling poorly at least one of those match losses would have been different.  This deck is a ton of fun and I recommend it for anyone who is looking for something different to play in a Daily event.  Do I think it will win this Sunday's PTQ?  No, I sadly do not, do I think it could be a solid competitive deck?  Yes I do.  With some changes, to the deck and to the metagame, I think it could be primed to do some damage in the standard format!

If you have any suggestions for standard stuff that is outside the deckbox, let me know and we'll try to make something happen!

Thanks for watching!

GJ on the deck's performance :). Tracker definitely looks like sideboard material vs aggro, what about experiment one? You have enough stuff (other than ooze itself) which evolves it and you do want T1 plays, plus it has resilience if you can get 2 counters on it. Side it out for the trackers vs aggro, you can lose both of the pit fights and a rangers guile (actually, you can probably lose two ranger's guile - that's the sort of effect you never want too much of) for it.

Vorapede should be the 4th wolfir if you want a big body or a thragtusk if you want a resilient one.

Vorapede has actually been the stone cold nuts.

I like the idea of experiment one. I will def try that out.

3-1'd all three daily events I played in. This most recent one I lost to PrimeSpeaker Bant, and beat Junk Reanimator, RG and Aggro Jund.

While Ulvenwald Tracker may not be a great choice right now due to Tragic Slip, it makes Predator Ooze a one sided Wrath of God when both are in play.
