URBan Decay
The joint be jumpin'
Deceiver thumpin'
Emmy come a'humpin'
We all be crumpin'!
Woo hoo! This delectable little morsel takes the T4 UBeR Splinter Twin from GP Turin, spices it with more disruption, and adds a nasty little transformational sideboard. This sideboard is impressive, in that it can swap out the entire Twin engine plus a Land (for fifteen cards) for the entire Breachboard seamlessly.
Rambling
So here it is, Sunday night, and I don't have anything written, other than a few decklists. AVR has hit the ground running, WotC has cut support for quite a few formats, most notably Modern, Pauper, and Momir, while filling the schedule with scads of Release Events, AVR Sixpack Sealed and M13 Sixpack Sealed. There are significantly fewer Modern events scheduled now, and they fall in some pretty unusual time slots. Apparently similar things have happened to Papuer and Momir, and their playerbases are up in arms, as well.
Not that the Modern crowd is up in arms. In fact, other than an occasional yawn or twitch, all things Modern appear to be sleeping it off. After a strenuous first quarter, with a wide open meta, and PTQs on the line, everything is now just simmering beneath the surface. Waiting for the June 20th Banned and Restricted announcement. (Which I think will again read Modern: No changes.)
I think GP Yokohama will kick off another spurt in Modern. We have 3 Modern events coming up for the summer: GP Yokohama, GP Columbus, and Pax Prime. I think it's especially cool that the Player of the Year will be decided by Modern!
Speaking of GP Yokohama....
The venue has been announced! And what a venue!
Pacifico Yokohama Hall A
1-1-1 Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku
Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa-ken
The Pacifico Yokohama is the cool rounded building sticking up on the right of the picture above.
Overdrive! #48 Round-up
Won against BYE, Breach Channel, 4c Reanimator, Jund.
Won against The Cranberries (Eurodrive! #31 champ below), RDW, URB Gifts in Flames, lost to RUG Delver.
Semifinalists
Won against R Aggro, Geist of St. Bant, lost to RUG Delver. Another Standard deck makes it to the semifinals.
Won against Martyr Proc, WB Tokens, lost to Jund.
Eurodrive! #31 Round-up
A Standard deck takes it!
Won against URW Delver, Stone & Steel, Breach Channel, and Death Cloud. This is a fully Standard-legal deck. This is the first time a Standard deck has taken the event. Standard decks have entered, and made it as far as the Semifinals before, but this is the first victory.
Won against Gifts Rock, RDW, UR Delver, lost to The Cranberries.
I love Death Cloud decks. What's unusual about this one is no Smallpox!
Semifinalists
Won against BYE, Caw, lost to Death Cloud.
Won against Fat R Aggro, GR Thin Tron, lost to The Cranberries.
This version of the Breach deck features a second and third combo to cheat out Emmy. The Channel combo is particularly nice because it allows you to actually cast Emmy instead of just putting it on the battlefield.
