Hello and welcome to Dragon's Maze release season!

I've been eagerly anticipating the new set more than usual. That's because unfortunate circumstances forced me to pass on the local sealed prerelease event (which was won by Alfredo, my friend and Rick's Picks reader - congratulations, man!), and as such I was still to have any sort of experience with the set.

This is an interesting place to be while recording draft videos, and it's one I enjoy. One of the things I like the most about limited is finding out which are my favorite strategies, as this is done in a much more visceral way than in constructed. Unless you're a big group with a large supply of booster packs to try and solve a format, there really isn't such a thing as extended playtesting for limited - you just jump into draft queues and learn as you go.

Coming into the weekend, I knew one thing for sure: I wanted to be playing as many colors as possible. The fact that every pack has a guildgate is  insane, and should allow for a lot of multicolored shenanigans. This is exactly what I attempted in my first recorded draft, which I present to you now.

So, results are actually promising. I lost the last match to mana screw and quick openings - which is bound to happen from time to time. I still think four- and five-color decks should end up being the best in the format, and I'm eager to keep trying my hand at them. I do need to keep guildgates very much in mind, however - it seems they're getting picked even earlier than I anticipated.

And that's all I have for today. I hope you enjoyed this, and see you soon.
