I'd recommend splitting the list for future spoilers. If making it several different pages is not a good idea because of the way puremtgo's article system works, you could use Javascript+CSS to make it work.

Is art above confirmed? I had hoped that since the set has a Legends theme, that for Force Spike, Remove Soul and Boomerang would feature the art from the Legends set.

Also does anyone know what basic lands will be in the set? With the Alpha lands out of the way, and snow-lands already done, there is not much out there that would add to the set other than unglued/unhinged lands, but I doubt that will happen. Maybe the Portal Three Kingdoms lands to keep them in theme?

Art is not confirmed, this is just an easy way to view all the cards by color, all at once, if you haven't been invited to the Beta. :)

Also, the rarities of some cards are different as well. Once the forums come back up I'll post a link to a breakdown of the cards by rarity->color.

thank for this Hamtastic
these old arts with old texts make always me nostalgical ... funny to see all these oldies : tap symbol with the T, white symbol with ... hm ... i dont know what, continuous/poly/mono artifact, interrupt, buried ... and sentences like "Lengend do not untap AS NORMAL", "this card is red when cast and kobolds are red creatures", "target land is NOW a swamp", "destroy any card in play" ^^
It reminds me how the mtg vocabular was different 15 years ago

btw, some text cards changed a lot since the original version. This is especialy true for Illusionary Mask.

This is a terrible set. by Anonymous (not verified) at Fri, 08/21/2009 - 10:40

This is a terrible set. Shame on Wizards for making a terrible set with a ton of unplayable chaff, throwing 5 dualies, mana drain, bazaar, mind twist, and a couple of other fringy slightly playable cards into a set and packaging it up for people who are desperate to play classic with the real duals and a few other cards. Instead of printing a set that is as blatant as this, they should just print up sets like From the Vault, and sell the duals and chase rares like that, save a bunch of people time, money, and headaches of collecting rather than having to sift through this junk.

Come on... by Anonymous (not verified) at Fri, 08/21/2009 - 11:17

I think the list is incredible:

grim tutor *
mind twist
nether void *
the abyss *

old man of the sea *
strategic planning *
mana drain *
reset

chain lightning

land tax

black vise
illusion of grandeur *

bazaar of baghdad *
5 duals *

*= over 40$ in paper

Sigh.. Agree but why Anonymous... by xXWarIsPeaceXx (not verified) at Fri, 08/21/2009 - 21:04

I agree with the second Anonymous post in this little mini thread. And whilst I respect the first Anonymous person's right to voice an obvious opionion... trails off here...

Nothing is perfect, nothing can make everyone happy... Can everyone say "White is, at best, a support colour, it is completely nerfed... etc." How long ago was that the song we were singing? 2 years? Now White is a powerhouse. Things change. Blue mages are unhappy now etc.

This set represents LOTS of opportunities for Tier 1 brokenness, BUT it also represents MANY MORE opportunities for Tier 15 silliness - casual games are going to be rich and diverse when this product hits casual games. Halfdane Beatdown FTW.

And why anonymous - it just makes it easier to conduct a conversation if you give yourself a tag...

They really weren't that creative with the names, using Island on both blue lands seems somewhat redundant. How thing change I guess...

Design space... by xXWarIsPeaceXx (not verified) at Fri, 08/21/2009 - 21:00
xXWarIsPeaceXx's picture

Using Island on the two Blue mana sources is good - as island/sea seem to be the default natural geological source for U mana - from there the design space moves away from this to less and less powerful? or ... 'generic' in a good all-encompasing way words. (Underground Sea > Underground River for example)...
Expansions and such can/do use more flavourful, regional names for their multi-mana names.

illusions of grandeur for $40, are you high?
the abyss is only that high because of nostalgia. it wont come remotely close online.
nethervoid is most likely too slow for online.

most of those duals are not $40, only the trops and bayous.

you really dont have much of a clue.

this set is going to be full of tons of useless garbage in addition to the few chase rares.

Seems Anonymous has lots to say... by xXWarIsPeaceXx (not verified) at Fri, 08/21/2009 - 23:31

But... should it really matter...

Whilst some of the speculative statements in the article deserve a critical "Wha?"

"You really don't have much of a clue" is going to have the net affect of making all the words in your anonymous effort less than relevant.

I'm not the parent poster, but your reply is garbage. Just because a poster doesn't log in doesn't make his point invalid. If you think he is wrong then make a case and present it, don't fill the board with crap.

For the record, Illusion of Grandeur is a $4 card, not a $40 card. It isn't in MED3 anyway. Thanks to the anon poster above for pointing out this flagrant error.

Garbage? Not really. by tempesteye at Sat, 08/22/2009 - 12:02

My dear anonymous Spike, you really need to understand that in order to sell this set it needs to be targeted at more then just YOU.
Nostalga is a huge seller to the casual section of the playerbase.
And this set, just like MED1, is nostalgia heavy.

Also, this set has more then a few chase rares:
The 5 duals, Drain, Tax, Grim Tutor, Mind Twist, Reset, Old Man, Chain Lightning, Black Vise, Illusionary Mask, Bazaar of Bagdad, Tabernacle

Not all are tournament worthy but they are still playable.

I could care less about the B.S. Legends, and fodder that I will NEVER play with. Not to say that there aren't some pretty neat classics in the mix.
With that said, I am an exclusive Classic player. I have been waiting for the rest of the duals to come out since MED2 ended. The day is near and I can't wait.
And Welcome back "Blood Lust"! Sweet card, awesome art.

I have been a part of the beta, and there is some fun cards in the set, but unfortunately most are not even lpayable for casual games. Where this set is going to shine is for commander/singleton. Tons of fun cards in here-the blue legend that gives all your creatures horsemanship would be a great general along with some of the others.

it will be fun to play with and i will land up cracking a few dozen packs in hopes of getting that duel string, med2 i missedit completely m10 i cracked silence 7 times, so maybe ill luck out and get a playset of bayous. or not....

I'm jsut going to Lol at Sorrow's Path for a while.

I always really wanted one online for all my casual decks xD.

Ok, that's it. Next article is going to be about finding a use for sorrow's path. Worst land. Ever. And Rhystic cave is pretty damn bad.

I dont feel that sorrows path can claim Worst Card Ever, though for sure worst land ever. Worst card has to go to "break open", which is already online. I challenge you to make a deck using break open!

Easy. Backslide and Break Open both on Isochron scepters. Donate using the permanent exchange card of your choice a Liege of the Pit. Break it open in your end step, backslide it after their upkeep. Fill out the deck with cards like Wall of Frost or Wall of Denial.
