In other big news, Gordon Culp released the Q1 MTGO Status Reports, which you can find here:
Magic Online Development Update Q1 2010. There were a lot of goodies in there, even though not all of it was awesome to hear, it was all very well stated and succinctly put. Items such as:
- UI Redesign – 3 of 8 of the client design phases are complete as of Jan 4. The design team is now working concurrently on the various collection management scenes including the deck building functionality.
- There are currently proposals to construct the 2 player and solitaire duel scenes from external vendors.
- Collection Server – Work is underway on the construction of the Trade Collection Server project. We hope to deploy this major update before M11.
In other news the 64 player single elimination top 8 drafts have been removed. This is bad news for the events as they were a great place to sink the prizes that were won in sealed swiss events. Since there are now a bevy of events that only allow tickets in and packs out the ability to sink packs elsewhere was crucial. Expect impacts of this to be felt pretty fast.
Prices:
Jace... down to the mid 30's. Not sure if he'll hit my 20'ish mark by the end of the week, but it might be close! Other than that, prices are right in line with what one might expect from being in the release events.

AJ - Couple of niche decks. Burning Bridges in Tribal: Grafted skullcap, Ensnaring Bridge, 0-power pumpable elementals and pingers.
Also Open the Vaults combo: Artifact beasts and Aether Charge, using draw and discard to pitch everything, then killing the opponent when OtV resolves.

I really hope the next version comes out sooner rather than later and has the many fixes we collectively yearn for. What's the saying? Hope springs eternal? I mean I have somewhat gotten used to the quirks of v3 but I still find the urge to rip it to shreds creeping up on me in odd moments.
That bridge deck is quite a beating. Sits there and does nothing for a bit then suddenly bridge and skull cap and a bunch of fierce attackers and well that's the whole song. Not being able to respond in kind is painful. Open The Vaults seems like a much more sneaky and deadly combo in that you probably won't realize it is happening until it happens at least once. And if it happens once it is probably gg. next? As usual AJ is an innovative and scary builder.
Erik Vamps? Really? I'd have thought you'd go with Boss Naya which looks like a great deck. (I managed to take a look at the video of BDM's chat with Ross on his deck at PT San Diego.) If I were planning to play competitively Id definitely want that deck or some hybrid there of. What is better than White Green Red Vampires? Certainly not monoblack traditional vamps. Good luck anyway.
i could care less about updates until they bring back leagues. they better soon, i cant find the 2-3 hours for a draft without the ball and chain raising a fuss
Nothing about the price of Eye of Ugin blowing up after that spoiled Eldrazi eh? Sorry if it's mentioned in the PC, can't listen to it at work.
I grabbed one two nights ago for a ticket or so, then figured I should probably complete my set, only to find folks selling them for 5 minimum, some offering up to 10 for 1. Mtgo has it for 7 now. Not a bad price hop for those who speculated and gobbled them up (as I know many did) at 1 and 2 tickets.
Supposedly paper playsets went for 60-90 for a bit on ebay. Looks like the are about $40-50 for playset right now.
I picked mine up fast and early. Any mythic around the 2 ticket range is usually a good investment if only for redemption: A mythic which foreshadowed the next set was only going to go up, either until we knew what was in the next set or until the next set needed it.
That, and once the creature type is updated, I have so many ideas for using them to cheat stuff...
I picked up my playset for 5 and resold them yesterday for 20. Maybe I made the wrong move by selling to early, maybe not.
well for what its worth i was still passed one in www 4322 4th pick so i feel its not the next bsa.
get your summoning traps now! of course Lotus Cobra and fetches also help, but couple that guy with Iona and you've got a pretty ruthless block deck IMO
I'm dying for that new UI. Maybe multiplayer with a play area larger than a saltine?
the trap still tables ever time, not going to be too hard to get those. now when you show me a reason to take cosi trickster...
