MTGO Username: Uvatha

What's your name and where do you live?
My name is Tim and I live in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Which is unfortunately, in a time zone that doesn't see much action in the Tournament Practice Room. A good thing about Denmark though is the abundance of approachable blonde bombshells which also explains why I play online- and not paper Magic. As we all know paper Magic is the premier form of birth control for young males since Dungeons & Dragons :o)

How did you become interested in classic in the first place?
I played paper magic back when 'The Dark' and ' Fallen Empires' were new sets. Some years later I stumbled upon MTGO and have played on and off in the casual room ever since where I dabbled with increasingly strange combo decks. But many of the players in there suffer from the Goldilocks Syndrome and always seem to think that your deck is either too good, bad, unfair, slow, quick, full of counters, discard or LD compared to their standards and will whine about it. In the end I turned to the dark side and also wanted to play with counters, discard and LD but on an even playing field. In the beginning I only had the cards for GW Hatebears. I later got the staples and never looked back. Classic and soon Vintage is where I belong - and the players understand it's a gentleman's game which I like. Once you go broken you never go back!

If you could play any classic deck what would it be?
I have great respect for Dredge, Shops and Affinity but they are not for me and my real interest is with the remaining archetypes and I can build pretty much all of them with my card pool now. I tend to play aggro control and fish decks even though I have all the broken combos in my collection. I still need an LED for Vintage so perhaps Burning Long once Vintage hits us would be on my wish list and something else compared to what I usually play.

What is your favorite MTGO accomplishment whether it relates to tournament play, deck innovation or community involvement?
Besides a Top 8 spot in the Classic Leagues some versions back I haven't actually played that much in tournaments. The events stopped firing shortly after I got my playset of FOWs and other non-Hatebear staples. What I take the most pride in is independently arriving at the conclusion that Porcelain Legionnaire is a beast against Shops (pre Affinity era - dodges spheres and can kill a Lodestone Golem) and that Stony Silence can make most grown Affinity players cry. I played those in the tournament practice room long before I noticed others playing them and I later discovered on The Mana Drain that they are Vintage staples too.
