DISCLAIMER: Wizards sponsored content. Catch the Brawl Streamer Showdown on Twitch at 12PM PT May 31st to celebrate the return of Brawl to MTGO, catch Cheshire's stream at twitch.tv/cheshireplaysgames

So last week I was sworn to secrecy by Wizards after I got an email about the Brawl Streamer showdown to celebrate the return of Brawl 1v1 to MTGO and as you can imagine, I was more than keen to be a part of it, so I quickly fumbled an email response along the lines of "Sign me up!". Then I thought about what decks I had built and decided to build something a little more fun and casual, because that's what Wizards asked for, a fun deck for 1v1 Brawl. Combo is fun, right?

The deck is centered around Jhoira, Captain of the Weatherlight and she allows you to draw a card with every Historic card you play. As Artifacts are now historic, that means we can make some sweet plays and have a lot of fun while doing it. Now, remember that this deck is built as a fun multiplayer deck but also can hold it's own in 1V1.

Here's the current deck list, have a browse and see what you think and scroll down further if you want to see how the combos go..

Jhoira, Captain of C C C COMBO!

COMBO PIECES

It is indeed possible to OTK with good old bug-face using Jhoira's ability late game or even using Pull from Tomorrow. Nothing like making a bunch of little gnats to eat your opponent's face off.

Play all of the cards. You think I'm joking, right? But this is actually not that hard at all given you have Jhoira's Familiar and Foundry Inspector to reduce costs of your other artifacts. Mix in Mirage Mirror and you can play almost every artifact in your deck for next to no cost. Speaking of Mirage Mirror, it's an all-star in Brawl and I would be hard-pressed to not tell you all to pick up a copy for Brawl as the Mirror copies a lot of important creatures,  artifacts and enchantments.

Once you're set up, you can use Paradoxical Outcome to really nail it all home by bouncing all your artifacts back to your hand, replaying them on the cheap and drawing so many cards that you should be able to OTK with that big old bug face The Locust God or pop your Aetherflux Reservoir for the win.

Want an artifact tutor that can fetch any artifact in your deck? Whir saves the day and the only real drawback is that triple Blue casting cost.

Azor's Gateway flipped and Jaya's Immolating Inferno do short work of your opponents, yes I said a plural because if you have the Aetherflux Reservoir online, a bunch of health and a Legendary creature or Planeswalker out, you can just burn out all of your opponents in one turn. You're welcome.

The Antiquities War is an amazing new Saga that digs twice through your top five cards for an artifact and then on the third turn, it turns all your artifacts into big 5/5 walking piles of junk. Swarming your opponent never felt easier!

Saheeli Rai is in here mainly so you can go off on an amazing combo turn, simply make a copy of Jhoira's Familiar or Foundry Inspector and go for broke. In a pinch, you can use her ultimate if you make it that far to dig out combo pieces, but I wouldn't bank on that as we just simply don't have a way to protect her well enough to go that late.

Last but not least in the YOU WIN slot of the deck we have Mechanized Production. With the ability to pump out a copy of Jhoira's Familiar or Foundry Inspector, if this enchantment goes unchecked you just straight up win the game at turn nine of it being on the board.

ALWAYS USE PROTECTION

Padeem, Consul of Innovation is one of the coolest Artificers I've ever seen. He makes all of you artifacts hexproof and also can net you an extra card each turn. Also he's an historic spell so when you eventuially play him, he nets you a card as a gift from his buddy Jhoira.

Karn's Temporal Sundering not only bounces a threat, it buys you another turn to kill your opponent. Remember, you're in this for the long haul so only cast this when you already have Jhoira out to ensure you also get to draw a card.

River's Rebuke is a stop all, end-all measure that you should wait to use until it can do it's most damage. It bounces everything a player owns that's not a land and can even get that nasty Carnage Tyrant off the field to give you one more turn.

Baral, Chief of Compliance may be banned, but his expertise remains strong, especially in this deck. Baral's Expertise is used to not just bounce a few nasty creatures back to your opponent's hand, but also it allows you to drop a free artifact on the field and trigger Jhoira to draw a free card.

BUT NO KARN? KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHN!

Okay so here's the thing, even on magic online, Karn, Scion of Urza is just too damn expensive for what is supposed to be a casual fun format. So, yeah, let's not play uber expensive cards when we can simply get by without them. Also, some cards such as Traxos, Scourge of Kroog simply didn't it the deck while things like Scavenger Grounds would have been nice, but they have now hit almost 3 TIX.

NO YARGLE

Thanks for reading and why not leave a comment down below on what deck you would like to see me tackle next, you never know what I might chuck in to a sixty and bang away at!
