Erik’s last wish was that the people in his life would take care of each other, help each other, and support one another in his absence. In this spirit, a trust fund for Bruce’s education and future needs has been established. All funding and support for this account is coming from friends and neighbors like us. This is certainly not the only way to show your love and support in this tragic time, but I do believe it is one way to honor Erik’s final request.

Donations will be going through paypal since that was the easiest way to do it. I was able to link it through my business account and add a tracking number so that I can sort them out from actual sales. This is good because I have a much lower fee rate than a new account would. I will also be covering all paypal fees. So if you donate $10 bucks then they will actually get $10 instead of $10 minus fees. After the community cup has passed I will be sending a check for all of the funds donated to this benefit. The benefit was setup by Erik's friend Chris and I spoke with Erik's wife Tami about it and she said that would be the best route to take.  You can either use the donate button below or send your check in using the information provided in the pdf I linked above.

Make sure to include your MTGO screen name when donating using the donate button as I will be doing a special raffle for everyone that donates $20 or more.

Donated so far:

100 tickets from mtgotraders
1x Foil Deed from cardbot
100 tickets from abumtgo
FTV: Dragons from Bubba0077
Foil Mana Crypt from Pete Jahn
100 tickets from marlonmtgo
1x Foil Bayou from mtgoacademy
1x Force of Will from Treamayne
1x FTV: Relics from Treamayne

If you would like to host the donate button on your own site here is the code:

Hey, I would love to donate but Im waiting on a check and I'm not sure when it will arrive. Will there still be a way to donate if it is after the one month time limit?

What about a tourney? by themaniac at Fri, 04/29/2011 - 05:38

Just to make a suggestion. What about mtgotraders organizing some sort of Erik Frigorg remembrance tourney?

It could be something waky like momir, or some other casual format, players would pay some entry fee, prizes could be singles (that mtgotraders could get at buy price, or someting like that), and profits to go to Erik's family? Something or other around these lines?

It could be a way to complement the donations...

I do believe something like by Paul Leicht at Fri, 04/29/2011 - 06:17

I do believe something like that is being discussed on the mothership forums. Multiple people/organizations have chimed in on it.

I didn't know Erik, but I greatly enjoyed both his articles each week. It's sad that we won't hear his voice anymore. I hope what little I can spare helps.

Cards by Treamayne at Mon, 05/02/2011 - 13:10

What about card donations for the raffle. If we would like to add some cards to the raffle prizes should we just meet with your account on MTGO to trade them to you for addition to the pot? Will the raffle for donations over $20 be for one huge lot of cards, or many smaller lots of singles and/or card lots? Would you like assitance organizing the card prizes, lots and sizes?

Erik must have had a few by smack8001 at Wed, 05/04/2011 - 15:06

Erik must have had a few thousand dollars invested in his MTGO account. Any thought as to holding an auction for it, or for parts of it?

If Wizards won't let his widow get his passwords, there's something seriously wrong with that company.

had a lot of writing credits saved up, I'm not sure what we are going to do with those, but I would love to see them somehow make it into the families hands.

I knew Erik in real life through playing paper with my son at Erik's store "Accidentally Cool Games" here in Bemidji, MN. Tami is keeping the store open and seems to be doing pretty well. Lil Brucie is an awesome kid and I encourage you all to donate generously. You can also support the family by purchasing paper cards at ACG. The spam filter has kept me from giving the store's website but it is very intuitive.
