Last time I 3-0ed, let's see how I do now:

  Pack 1 pick 1:

Ramp is probably my favourite archetype in non powered cube so I took Garruk. I could see taking a blue card here and I would take Condescend.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 2:

Ajani would be nice but it puts me on white so I just took Arbor Elf. The mana elves are always important in these decks.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 3:

Solemn is a good card and I would certainly play it but a Sword is very good here because these decks end up with several 1 mana elves and Swords turn them into threats.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 4:

Boon Satyr is not what I really want and Grave Titan is insane.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 5:

Here I could take Slaughter Pact but that's not very exciting. Some removal is needed against aggro but there are others that I like more. I could also take Temple Garden but after taking Grave Titan and passing Ajani I don't really want that. Duplicant is removal but it also is something to ramp into and maybe abuse by playing it more than once.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 6:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 7:

Again I don't really see the point of a GW land. Heartbeat is not a card I like to play unless it's a combo deck that doesn't care if it also gives your opponent double mana. Putrid Leach is easy to play but doesn't do much in a deck like this. Nighthawk also doesn't do much but it can be pretty good against aggro so that's what I took. I could play it maindeck but I'd rather it stay in the sideboard and put it in when needed.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 8:

Fantastic pick. Very happy to see it here.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 9:

Ink-Eyes usually ends up not being very good. I could take the RG land but I'd rather get a removal spell while I don't have to pick it over anything I need.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 10:

I'm not gonna take Decree over another GW land because that makes it almost impossible to splash. The fetch can also help if I pick a BG dual. Surprised to see Pact still here.

At this point I need ramp but Batterskull is way too good to pass here.

  Pack 2 pick 4:

The classic question when drafting ramp: take a monster or ramp? And I would say I needed ramp more but both of these are not the best and it's likely that at least one comes back so I took Woodfall Primus. There's also the Tomb for me but I don't think I can take it here.

  Pack 2 pick 6:

This Hydra doesn't seem that good. I'd rather have a Duress.

  Pack 2 pick 8:

I already have Reclamation Sage so I prefer the Pulse.

  Pack 2 pick 9:

Glad I took the Batterskull. Genesis Wave can be good in ramp but I don't have enough to support it.

Both came back and I think the Elf is a bit better but I'm not really sure.

  Pack 3 pick 1:

I would like to have Sylvan Library but I was afraid that with not that much ramp, I would be stuck in the mid game without playing anything relevant sometimes. Kitchen Finks is really good against aggro and also relevant against control.

  Pack 3 pick 2:

  Pack 3 pick 3:

Not a deck for Channel and Primal Command is very good.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 4:

I don't love Viper or Liliana but Liliana can be very good in some situations where the rest of my deck is not.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 5:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 6:

I'm not a huge fan of Sundering Titan. It can be good but I think Thrun is a better pick here.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 7:

After a few dry packs I see this! I really want Nissa and Harmonize but even Diabolic Servitude would be good for attrition (not the card) match ups. I already have Green Sun's Zenith so I don't really need Chord. Wall of Blossom and Treetop I don't need as well but they would have been the pick in some of those dry packs. It comes down to Nissa vs Harmonize and I think I needed Harmonize more.

Here's the deck:

M1G1:

His balance slowed me down but he lost more cards than I did and he couldn't deal with Grave Titan.

M1G2:

He's playing Dark Confidant in a control deck along with cards like All is Dust and Gilded Lotus which is a big mistake. I even let it live one more turn because of that. Once again he played a Balance that made him discard several cards and even All is Dust wouldn't save him because of persist.

M2G1:

I'm glad I had both Fertile Ground and Farseek because if I only had Fertile Ground I would have probably lost to Molten Rain. Also, now that I look at it, I think I shouldn't have attacked with Finks the turn that I used Primal Command to deal with Koth.

M2G2:

I kept this hand mainly because of Nighthawk and when he dealt with it and I didn't draw green mana fast enough I easily lost. His draw was really good as well.

M2G3:

I had a very good draw but he had the perfect draw to counter mine. Molten Rain on the land with Fertile Ground and a way to kill the germ token as well as kill Garruk. I also missed a land drop that could have cost me the game but in the end I drew 2 in a row and I was able to stabilize. Maybe I should have left Batterskull in play to equip on Thrun but I was afraid that maybe I would have to chump block with it. I really don't know which is better.

M3G1:

I mulliganed to 5 and I was flooding. When he killed my Jar and played Hero I thought I was dead. I topdeck Grave Titan and he has Parallax Wave so I think I am dead again unless I draw something to kill the enchantment. Well I drew the best possible one and from here it was an easy win.

M3G2:

His wall made my Liliana useless and this time his Mystic Snake made sure I couldn't come back from this one.

M3G3:

I had an excellent draw and he couldn't keep up with it.

Once again I 3-0 which means I probably won't have to spend 10 tix again, at least for a while. I hope you enjoyed this and there are still more to come.

I feel like GR was open for the entire draft. If you had been in red you would have had access to cards like Huntmaster, Generator Servant, Xenagos, Bloodbraid Elf, and Mizzium Mortars. I think you let yourself get too tied to black when you picked the Grave Titan, as a lot of GR cards and lands came your way fairly steadily throughout the draft. You did go 3-0, so GB was clearly fine, but my thoughts are that you probably should have switched to red fairly early on.

Those cards are nice but I by TugaChampion at Thu, 10/02/2014 - 16:38

Those cards are nice but I was not gonna take Mortars over a colorless card. I don't think it was really getting tied to black. It was simply taking a green or colorless card when I could because I didn't want many off color cards. Grave Titan is one card that makes me want to take it despite being another color, the same would apply to Jace or Upheaval. It does not apply to Mortars.
