  Pack 1 pick 1:

It's between Academy and Bargain. Academy has a higher upside but Bargain is always good in combo decks so I took it.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 2:

Between a decent Signet, Glen Elendra and Tendrils, I'd rather take Tendrils.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 3:

Seething Song and Venser are fine cards but this is a good opportunity to take a dual.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 4:

Signet over nothing.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 5:

Battlesphere is nice but I still don't have anything that really goes with it so I opted for the land.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 6:

Lodestone and Electrolyze are both fine but unexciting picks and I opted for the Golem.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 7:

With Volcanic Island already, Steam Vents is less needed so I went for the Tezzeret.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 8:

It's great to get Time Spiral!

The Signet came back!

  Pack 2 pick 1:

I have Tendrils already so I don't need Empty. Simulacrum is fine but Monolith and Sphinx are better and I went with the artifact because it's better in combo.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 2:

Easy Demonic Tutor.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 3:

I don't have that many artifacts and no big guy so Forgemaster isn't that exciting. Dark Ritual is always good in these.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 4:

Jar and Metalworker would be fine picks but I'm pretty happy with Mind's Desire.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 5:

Another easy pick.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 6:

Necro is not as good as Bargain or the draw 7s but it's still a good card and with Dark Ritual it gets better.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 7:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 8:

Turnabout and Lotus Bloom are on the same level in my opinion. I opted for Lotus because I took Trinket Mage.

Another draw 7.

  Pack 3 pick 2:

This is a good pack. I could take Wheel but I already have Time Spiral, Timetwister, Necro and Bargain. Lion's Eye is probably the best pick for me but it might wheel. Karn is a riskier and more fun pick so I went for it.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 3:

With Sundering Titan I'm happy taking Tinker.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 4:

Upheaval over nothing.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 5:

I took Mystical Tutor over Rakdos Signet but that was probably a mistake.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 6:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 7:

Very easy Shelldock Isle.

Here's what I battled with:

M1G1:

I kept a risky hand with only one land but I drew one right away to play a Signet. On turn 2, he played Fastbond and another land to play Green Sun's Zenith getting Joraga Treespeaker. I played Dark Ritual, Necro and Grim Monolith. I drew 7 and passed. He played Wheel of Fortune, which made me lose some important cards like Time Spiral, Mind's Desire and Sundering Titan. He played 5 lands and Llanowar Elves. I played Karn and exiled his Treetop. I drew 4 and passed. He played land and Genesis Wave getting Sword of Body and Mind, Jitte, Primeval Titan, Xenagos and Thragtusk. I stole his Titan with Mind Control and exiled Sword. He topdecked Acidic Slime and I conceded.

M1G2:

I started with Shelldock hiding Mind's Desire and he had a mana dork. I played a Signet and he used Zenith to get Rofellos. I played Tinker and got Sundering Titan. He played Kitchen Finks and passed. I played Monolith, suspended Lotus and attacked. He played Natural Order, sacrificing Finks to get Acidic Slime without attacking first and killed my Titan. I had to Timetwister now and played land and Signet. He had Fastbond, a few lands, Natural Order for Titan and finally Jitte. I played a land and passed and on his turn tapped his Titan with Ice. He put me to 8. Lotus resolved, I played some spells, Bargain, put myself to 1 life and played Mind's Desire from Shelldock. I got lands, Time Spiral and Demonic Tutor. I started with Time Spiral, played some more spells and eventually was able to win with Tendrils.

M1G3:

I suspended Lotus and put Karn under Shelldock. I had a Signet on turn 2 and he had a Rofellos on turn 3. I Iced his Rofellos on his upkeep and he used Green Sun's to get Finks. Lotus resolved and I played some spells into Mind's Desire. I ended up making 16 Goblins and passed. He played Dragonlord Atarka killing 5 of them. I Thoughtseized him taking Titan and leaving Nissa, played Karn from Shelldock to exile his Dragon and passed. I played it slow not attacking with my tokens but I would have given him less turns he I had started attacking earlier. He even drew Natural Order but the best thing he could get was a Polukranos. I ended up playing Bargain and being able to kill him in several ways but I opted to attack with my Goblins.

M2G1:

I Thoughtseized him the turn Lotus entered the battlefield and took Restoration Angel over Sword of Light and Shadow, Consecrated Sphinx and Supreme Verdict. I decided to play Necro and draw 4 cards instead of using Lotus and Song to play Karn. He played Geist of Saint Traft and I played some rituals, Monolith and Time Spiral. I drew 5 lands, Ritual and Mind's Desire and that was enough to win as a got some spells including Tendrils.

M2G2:

He played Skullclamp and Stoneforge Mystic searching for Batterskull. I killed Stoneforge with Fire. He played Sin Collector exiling my Thoughtseize. I missed my land drop but still played a Signet and suspended Lotus. He attacked, equipped his guy to draw 2 cards and play Monastery Mentor. I played land and Signet. He played Sorin, Lord of Innistrad and made an Emblem. I drew Dark Ritual and used it to cast Bargain. I drew cards until I made found a land. He played Jace Beleren, drew one and attacked me down to 3. He made a token with Sorin and turned one of his tokens into 2 cards. Lotus resolved, I played Lion's Eye and Time Spiral. My new hand had lands, Tinker, Timetwister and Grim Monolith. I played Monolith and Tinkered for Memory Jar. I played Timetwister and got a hand of Desire, Empty, Titan and lands. I went for Desire and got 3 lands, Demonic Tutor, Fire/Ice, Mystical Tutor and Control Magic. I used Demonic Tutor to get Lion's Eye and played it. I stole his Mentor next (should have been the first thing I did), I used Fire to kill his two tokens but that's where the replay stops. I used Mystical Tutor to get Tendrils on top, activated Jar cracking Lion's for black mana, but I didn't draw Dark Ritual. I drew two more cards with Bargain but still couldn't find Dark Ritual so I couldn't win the game. I'm not exactly sure how, but I ended up losing the game. My big mistake here was playing Mystical Tutor before cracking Jar. I should have cracked Jar and draw one card with Bargain if needed before using Mystical Tutor. I could still miss, but the odds are much lower that way. I have 8 new cards to see either Tendrils or Dark Ritual so I can use Mystical to get the missing one and draw it with Bargain.

M2G3:

I put Demonic Tutor under Shelldock and he played Skullclamp. On turn 3 I decided to play Timetwister since my hand wasn't looking very good. He played Sin Collector and took my Tendrils. I played Trinket Mage for Lion's Eye. He equipped Skullclamp to draw 2, played Jace Beleren and drew 1. I played Lion's Eye, land, Seething Song and Time Spiral drawing Lion's Eye, Dark Ritual, Necro, 2 lands and 2 Signets. I played the spells, activated Necro until I had 20 cards in my Library, cracked Lion's Eye, cast Demonic Tutor for Karn and played it. I exiled one of his lands and attacked Jace before activating Necro a few more times and passing the turn. He played Stoneforge for Sword of Light and Shadow and equipped Skullclamp. I used Karn's +4 and activated Necro putting myself on 7 life. He played a land and passed. I exiled his Island, activated Necro 3 more times and passed. At my end step he put Batterskull into play. On his turn he played Liliana of the Veil and made me sacrifice Trinket Mage. I played Mystical Tutor for Tinker and played Ice to tap his Batterskull. He attacked Karn with Stoneforge and passed. I used the +4, played Seething Song and Tinker for Sundering Titan and made 6 Goblins with Empty. He used Liliana's +1, used Stoneforge to put Sword into play and equipped it to his germ. I exiled the germ and attacked with everything but 2 tokens taking down Liliana and putting him to 9. He attacked me and I went to 2. I attacked with everything but 2 tokens again and he played Restoration Angel blinking his Stoneforge. His 1/2 blocked my Titan. I played Desire getting 2 lands and exiled his Angel with Karn. He played Mentor and I attacked with everything winning the game with not much time left on both clocks.

M3G1:

He suspended Rift Bolt and I played Grim Monolith. He played Gore-House Chainwalker and I played Necro drawing 5 cards. He played Monastery Swiftspear, Chain Lightning and put me to 4. I played Lion's Eye and Time Spiral cracking the Eye in response but losing Tendrils that way. Maybe I should have not cracked it and tried to get lucky having 3 less mana since Tendrils was by far the best winning condition I had. I ended up making 10 Goblins and lost to Brimstone Volley after the creatures died in combat.

M3G2:

He played Swiftspear on turn 1 but on turn 2 he could only suspend Rift Bolt without playing a second land. I played Trinket Mage of Lion's. He Rift Bolted me, used Burst Lighting to kill my 2/2, played Stromkirk Noble and attacked. I played Tinker for Sundering Titan and he passed his following turn without a land again. I stole his Swiftspear and attacked with Titan. He attacked with Noble and I couldn't block because Swiftspear is a human. He played Kargan Dragonlord and passed. I played Memory Jar and attacked with both. He blocked my Titan and attacked on his turn. I cracked Jar on my turn and he responded with Incinerate on Swiftspear. I played Time Spiral as well but didn't get much so I just played Signet and Mystical Tutor for Tendrils before attacking and passing. He passed without attacking and I played Karn to exile his creature and attack for the win.

M3G3:

I kept a risky hand with only one land. He had Chain Lightning on turn 1 and we both missed our land drops. I found my second land first and he did right after playing Kargan. I found another one and played Trinket Mage for Lion's Eye. He drew a land as well and played Searing Blaze on my guy. I played land, Dark Ritual, Lion's Eye and Time Twister but the best I could do was get Sundering Titan into play thanks to Tinker. He played land and Maniac Vandal and I conceded.

I lost the finals but I was happy with the deck as I had some crazy games in rounds 1 and 2. I might have been able to win round 3 if I had something like Wurmcoil or Battlesphere because Sundering Titan isn't great against monored. This was one of the reasons I wanted to try drafting monored that you saw in one of my previews articles. I hope you enjoyed this.
