  Pack 1 pick 1:

Nothing really stands out as great here but there are some good possible picks. There's Exarch for the Twin combo, both Temples are good (better than Hinterland Harbor I think) but I took Baneslayer because it is very good against me decks.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 2:

I prefer pairing white with blue and so I'd rather take Mana Leak over the 2 Angels.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 3:

Other than Karmic Guide there aren't any blue or white cards that I could play, but I'm not in love with it. Underground Sea is a better option. But there's a very good monoblack card here: Hymn to Tourach. Just like in Powered Cube, monoblack is a good plan B so I took that.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 4:

The 2 black cards here are decent but Vedalken Shackles is so powerful that I had to take it.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 5:

And we're back to packs with no good control blue or white cards. So I just took the best black card.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 6:

Compulsive Research is very good and makes me think blue is open and the packs have just been weird.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 7:

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 8:

Watery Grave is very nice this late.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 9:

And another UB land.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 10:

I think the monoblack plan is gone and I don't want Dark Ritual in a UB control deck. I could take Brain Maggot but I rarely play those cards because I really don't like them in most decks. It usually just dies to some removal that would be stuck in their hand for a long time. So I took Restoration Angel in case I do end up playing white.

  My Pick:

  Pack 1 pick 11:

If I do end up playing white I don't think I want another double white mana 5 drop and I'd much rather have a good sideboard card.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 1:

There are some good ones here. I could take Misty Rainforest but I didn't get many played pack 1 so I think I need to focus more on spells than fixing. Repeal and the black cards are fine but I think at least one of those will come back. Sower and Powerstone are my best options and I went with the Sower because I didn't have anything to ramp into yet.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 2:

Snapcaster and Jace, better than all in the same pack makes me  sad but only for a second because I take Jace and am very happy about it.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 3:

Far/Away is decent but it could certainly wheel. I don't mind Daze but I don't love it either. People usually only remember blowing out someone with Daze and Force Spike but they forget the times it sits in their hand doing nothing. And on the other side it's even worse because you only see the times it works, but when it sits in their hand the whole game you don't even get to see it. I think Ultimate Price is a more consistent card, even if it's not the best removal.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 4:

I hadn't seen much white in this pack so I was looking to play UB, maybe splash white so I could ignore these white cards. I took another removal spell but this one is pretty good. Shriekmaw is very nice and Keiga is usually not that good.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 5:

Here I could take the Temple or Serum Visions but greed took over and I picked Nicol Bolas. I love playing with that card and it's a very good finisher.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 6:

I wanted to take Ral Zarek but this time I controlled myself. I valued Negate pretty highly and Ral Zarek isn't as fun as Nicol Bolas (still pretty fun though).

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 7:

Hallowed Fountain and two pretty decent white cards but I'm happy taking Ophiomancer.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 8:

I don't think Disciple of Bolas can be good in this deck even though I really like the card. Serendib Efreet isn't horrible but it also doesn't fit this deck very well. Garruk is less powerful than Karn and Nicol Bolas but it's still pretty good and while I didn't know if I'd play it, I still took it hoping I could make it work.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 9:

All three cards I expected to wheel did so I had to choose. Repeal is nice and I still wanted to play Shackles so I when in doubt I should take blue cards.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 10:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 11:

After taking Repeal and Into the Roil it's even easier to take the BR land over Far/Away.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 12:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 13:

Two good lands for me in a row makes me feel really look about the Nicol Bolas pick.

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 14:

  My Pick:

  Pack 2 pick 15:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 1:

It's very painful to pass Counterspell and Venser but I think Relic is the pick here. It ramps and fixes my mana and that's what I need the most.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 2:

I expect Sulfur Falls to come back since Steam Vents did much later and I do need some counters.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 3:

Control Magic is great and it's simply the best card in the pack.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 4:

Bayou would be cool to splash Garruk but that was a free pick and I think taking Tamiyo is way better.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 5:

  Pack 3 pick 6:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 7:

These last 2 packs dried up and I took cards I don't mind playing but I'm not thrilled about. This one doesn't really have anything I want. The only card I'd love to play is Revelation and that's what I took but I didn't expect to play it.

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 8:

  My Pick:

  Pack 3 pick 9:

Dismember would be fine but Fire/Ice is more versatile.

Here's how the deck turned out:

I'd love to have some more Islands in the deck and have something else other than cards like Disfigure, Coralhelm Commander, Bone Shredder and Future Sight but I don't think there are nothing I could have done about that because some packs just had 2 or 3 cards I really wanted and others had nothing or just one meh card for me but that's just how it goes sometimes. The only pick I really regret is Hymn over Underground Sea because that would make my mana significantly better but it's not a big deal, especially because I'd have to find another filler card. I thought about playing 8 lands but besides Nicol Bolas, my curve stops at 5 and I already have Relic as another mana source so I think 17 is fine.

M1G1:

I had to mulligan to 6 and we played draw go until he played a 0/1 Tarmogoyf on his third turn missing his land drop. I played Jace and +2ed him to increase the odds of him missing his land drop again, which he did, discarding Electrolyze. I didn't have a fifth land so I used Brainstorm this time but I still didn't find a land. His Goyf was now 1/2 so he attacked Jace down to 4. He passed again without playing a land so I Repealed the Goyf at his end step and he discarded Pestermite and Burst Lightning. I Brainstormed again and found two Blood Crypt and Arid Mesa. I made the mistake of not putting Blood Crypt on top because Arid Mesa could only get Blood Crypt and Steam Vents. He played Temple of Abandon and Goyf which I Leaked. I cracked Mesa and that's when I realized both targets where already out of my Library. I upped Jace again and passed. He evoked Mulldrifter but didn't find a land and passed discarding Birthing Pod. I kept upping Jace hoping to ultimate and played Ophiomancer. He played Talrand and I evoked Shriekmaw to kill it. He played Ponder and found a land. On my turn I was going to put Jace with 12 counter but I thought that the only way I could lose this game was if he had Zealous Conscripts to steal my Jace and ultimate it. So I started to Brainstorm instead. I played Relic and passed.  At my end step he played Intuition getting 2 Island and Volcanic Island. I gave him an Island. He Regrowth Talrand and played it again. I played Nicol Bolas and stole it. He played Zealous Conscripts, took Nicol Bolas and attacked. I played a one mana Murderous Cut which he countered with Force Spike I double blocked with Talrand and my new 2/2 flier and he killed Talrand. He used Nicol Bolas de destroy itself and passed. I played Future Sight and at  this point I think the game was mine but I still opted to not go ultimate with Jace because I could be missing something. On his turned he played Snapcaster on Regrowth to get back Pestermite. I attacked him down to 2 and killed Snapcaster. On my end step he played Pestermite which I allowed to resolve. He targeted Relic and I put a counter on it in response. He still clicked yes and it untapped. He played Splinter Twin on Pestermite and my Negate was enough for him to concede.

This was one of those typical games where one player just has everything and so many options that he ends up not playing perfectly and still very easily winning. I'm not 100% on some of my plays and that's not counting cracking Arid Mesa without any lands to get.

M1G2:

He played Tarmogoyf on turn 2 which I killed with Shriekmaw evoke and he replaced it with Serendib Efreet. I played Relic and passed. He played Serum Visions and passed. I passed after playing a land. He attacked and played Huntmaster of the Fells and I bounced his Efreet with Repeal. I drew Vedalken Shackles and played it. I clicked F2 one too many times and let him attack before stealing Huntmaster so I took 2 extra damage. He played Efreet and passed. I drew Murderous Cut so I tried passing without playing anything to flip Huntmaster. He played Intuition for 3 Forests on my end step to prevent the flipping. He played Xenagos, the Reveler, made a token and attacked with everything. I killed Efreet and traded Huntmaster for a 2/2. I played Compulsive Research and passed the turn. He made a token which I stole and passed. I played Jace, Brainstormed, attacked Xenagos for 2 and played Ophiomancer. He made another token and played Young Pyromancer. I untapped Shackles and took the Pyromancer. I attacked Xenagos with the 1/1 and he allowed it to die. He played Talrand and attacked. I played Into the Roil on a token as well as Ultimate Price of Talrand and traded two 1/1s for one of his 2/2s and Pyromancer for the other. I played Nicol Bolas destroying a land and attacked. He had Zealous Conscripts again to deal with Nicol Bolas and didn't attack. I played Future Sight, stole his creature and attacked. He didn't play anything and I won on the following turn.

M2G1:

I kept a hand without blue mana on the draw and I had a couple removal spells so I liked my chances. I drew blue mana right away and his first play was Lotus Cobra which I Disfigured. He passed without playing anything on turn 3 and I played Compulsive Research. He played Impulse on my end step. He played Ancient Tomb and Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury so I was in a though spot now. I played Jace and found some counters I would still have another turn unprotected. He played Garruk, Caller of Beasts getting Indrik Stomphowler, Deranged Hermit and Master of the Wild Hunt. I also saw Treachery in those 5 cards. I Brainstormed and passed and he attacked Jace with both tokens. I Repealed one. He upped Garruk again this time getting Avenger of Zendikar and Overgrown Battlement. He played Rampant Growth and the wall. I found Nicol Bolas and I was hoping it could swing the game in my favor later. Meanwhile, I played Bone Shredder to kill one of his tokens. He upped Garruk again getting Meloku and attacked with his single token and I traded with Bone Shredder. He played  He played Master of the Wild Hunt which I stole with Control Magic. On his turn he played Hermit and Meloku and I countered the latter. He ultimated Garruk and played Hermit getting Yavimaya Elder. He also played Meloku getting Wall of Blossoms and I countered his creature. He paid for Hermit and he realized Freyalise could destroyed artifacts or enchantments. To be fair I had forgotten about that too. I tapped Master in response to kill his Hermit. He attacked with everything and killed Jace. After that he played Ashiok and I countered it. At his end step I used Ultimate Price to kill Master. I think at this point I had to try to race him so I Shriekmawed his Wall, put Commander on level 3 and put him on 6 life. However he had a very good turn. He played Eternal Witness searching for Shardless Agent (he doesn't get Cascade but it's an artifact to block Shriekmaw) and returns Meloku which he plays as well an at this point he doesn't search anything so I assume he's out of creatures. He attacked me down to 7 and I killed Agent at his end step. I played Nicol Bolas stealing his Meloku but he makes 3 tokens in response. I also make a token replaying the land and attack with Shriekmaw. If he has nothing I survive at one life and win on my turn but that was very unlikely because he could draw 8 cards with Freyalise if he wanted. He didn't even need to as he simply played Treachery and won.

M2G2:

I sided in Garruk for this match up because it can deal with resolved planeswalkers. I leaked his turn 2 Lotus Cobra and played Ophiomancer on turn 3 to protect my turn 4 Jace. He played Kodama's Reach and Indrik Stomphowler as just a 4/4 and that is pretty bad against Ophiomancer so I thought I was in a very good position. I killed his guy with Shriekmaw and kept attacking. He played Garruk but only revealed a Wall of Blossoms. I attack Garruk and passed. He played the Wall as well as Overgrown Battlement and at his end step I bounce Battlement with Into the Roil. In response he played Impulse. I attacked and he blocked my 2/2. I finished the wall with Fire and passed. He played Avenger of Zendikar but I had Dissolve for that. I attacked leaving him at 3 life and played Tamiyo. On his turn he conceded.

M2G3:

He played Brainstorm on turn 2 and cracked a fetch right away for maximum value. On turn 3 he played Rampant Growth and turn 4 he had Master of the Wild Hunt. I could have killed it with Ultimate Price but that was a good creature to steal so I untapped and played Sower. His next play was fantastic for me: he played Song of the Dryads on Sower. Sower is still in play so Master was still mine. That also gave me an extra land and it's green mana, so both Garruk and Nicol Bolas were now way easier to cast. He also played Shardless Agent into Battlement. I passed my turn and he played Avenger which I killed with Ultimate Price. At his end step I killed one of the plants with Master. On my turn I played Garruk and made a beast. He didn't play anything and at the end of his turn I killed Battlement with Master. I played Shackles and kept attacking and he played nothing again on his turn. I played Nicol Bolas and he conceded.

M3G1:

He played turn 2 Jitte and I played Ophiomancer on turn 3. He just played a land and passed and I resolved Jace. He had Oblivion Ring for Jace. I played Hymn to Tourach making him discard Ajani Vengeant and Cloudgoat Ranger. I attacked and played Relic. He played Desecration Demon and passed. I stole it with Control Magic and attacked. He played Inquisition of Kozilek taking Repeal over Disfigure and passed. I put him to 2 life and passed. He played Wurmcoil Engine and sacrificed it to tap Demon. I played Coralhelm Commander and put it on level 4 but he had Slaughter Pact. On his turn he equipped the lifelink wurm and attacked with both but that puts him dead on my turn because I blocked the lifelink one with my token and Disfigured my own creature so he wouldn't gain life not trigger Jitte. He realizes that he concedes.

M3G2:

He had turn 2 Jitte again and turn 3 he played Brimaz for which he paid the Ultimate Price. I Iced one of his lands on his upkeep and he just played a tapped land. He played Desecration Demon and I Dissolved it seeing Jace on top. I played Jace and Brainstorm. He had Ring for it again. I played Ophiomancer and passed. He played Olivia Voldaren with 2 mana untapped. I stole it with Control Magic and he pinged my Ophiomancer in response. He played Journey to Nowhere which I Negated and he also had Xathrid Necromancer. I attacked with both Olivia and the token and he didn't block. I played Relic which gave me access to two Olivia activations. He equipped his creature and attacked so I pinged it twice to kill it. He equipped his token and passed. I had lethal by just killing his token with Olivia and when I did he conceded.

I was able to 3-0 with a very sweet Grixis Control deck and I had a lot of fun playing it. I hope you enjoyed this.
