At some point in playing MTGO, you are going to have to/want to make a text version of one of your decks. Whether to post it on a forum, register your deck for an event, or whatever, there's got to be an easier way than typing out cards one by one. Well, there is! And it's surprisingly simple to do!

Making the Text Deck

To start, load your deck in the Deck Editor, then select "Save As"...

A save box will pop up. In the upper left corner of the save box is a drop down menu. Click on this and select "Local Text Deck"...

Remember where you save this! I recommend saving it to your desktop...

Find the text file you just created...

Open this file by double clicking it. Voila! Your text deck is now ready to be copied & pasted wherever you need it!

Sending Your Decklist To A Person

To send your deck to a person, simply open a chat with that person by double clicking their playername, and paste the entire decklist into the chat window. It will look "scrunched up" in the chat window, that's perfectly normal...

  You're done!

Entering Your Decklist On Gatherling

Entering your decklist on Gatherling is basically the same thing, but a few more steps are involved. After logging in to Gatherling, go to your Player CP...

As you scroll down the page, you will see your recent decks. A little further, you will come to a section where you can register and pre-register for the various events. Click the link for the event you want to register for:

This will bring you to where you actually enter the deck. Be sure to fill in Name field! :)

Voila! That's all there is to it!

Interesting Tidbits

Community Cup nominations are now being taken. Be sure to let your voice known! Don't nominate me. If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve. I'm not going to grow out my mohawk. 'Nuff said.

The Player of the Year festivities (mostly Modern format) are coming up in just a few short weeks, as well as Modern's 1st Birthday! I am hoping for some fun surprises from WotC. I'd love a playset of 'goyfs to appear in my collection... or even Bob's your uncle! But, alas, prolly nuffin.

Modern attendance continues to track well.

WAFTT was great! by Procrastination at Wed, 08/08/2012 - 20:53

Glad I finally got to play in a WAFTT! It was fun to finally try out some Modern online. I'm bummed that I played pretty poorly in my last game vs. Kumagoro, so hopefully next time I'll present a much better challenge!

Also, I feel like I helped "inspire" the whole saving your decklist as a .txt content of this article...so yeah, you're welcome? : )

Hopefully I'll be able to hop in to another one of your events this week. It was run very smoothly...wish some of the local stores could pull off tournaments this well.

Hehe, I've been loading and by Paul Leicht at Wed, 08/08/2012 - 21:02

Hehe, I've been loading and giving decks to people via chat for years now and I am pretty sure if anyone told Blippy how to do it before he discovered it for himself it was me or Kuma. (This is generally how teammates trade info and help each other tune decks for 2hg pre tourney.)

I think this is a case of a fairly obvious use of the system as designed occurring to many people over time.

I wish to have even one copy by MichelleIvans at Wed, 04/24/2013 - 18:39
