Hey there every body! I am back after a few weeks off. ( I know, I know, you all missed me) The funny part of being awol is that I had recorded and rendered two events and started the skeleton for an article, and just couldn't get the motivation to do anything. Couple this with a busted computer, and Skyrim, you get a delay in the process. This week I have three events. Dredge and a ISD Sealed from about a month ago, as well as one of the two events that I played in this past weekend. I guess I'll just lead into them. Enjoy.
I played the deck a few times before my comp went down and then I picked it back up an hour or so before this event. I went into the DE having played zero games of magic in nearly two weeks. Having said that I enjoyed the deck and during the Tech, I explain how I would tune it based on my experience and play style. Here we go.
A few weeks ago I played Dredge in 3 consecutive events. I placed 3-1 in two of them and went 1-2 drop in the third. A combination of corrupt videos as well as a terrible event and waning interest in Magic means there is only one round from the third event. The main deck is very similar to the last time I played the deck, with the exception that leyline of the Void moved back to the sideboard, as well as general tweaking of the board to accommodate the meta. If you would like a video deck tech here is a link to the last time. http://puremtgo.com/articles/penguin-tv-sun-titan-dredge
Lastly we have this gem of a Sealed deck from the ISD release events. This was the first time I built an all-out agro deck in the format, and I thought I did pretty well, barring the very slow draws I had in the round that I lost. It's been a long time since I recorded this so forgive me if it is out dated, but It's better than just deleting rendered vids!
Next week we will have at least one Classic event with a different build of Oath of Druids, inspired by the YSO 43 podcast coming out this Thursday. If the Monday night or Saturday events fire there will be two events to pour over. See ya next time.
That's it for this week.
Classic Dailies are every Saturday at 12:30 PM EST and Sunday at 6:30 PM EST. Come on out guys!
See ya in seven, have at me in the comments if you wish
I'm curious about the Lightning Bolts, it's a direction I hadn't considered trying, but seems viable. I am forever hassled by Chalices, but I just feel the need to play them against Oath.
Always open to suggestions though, there are so many cards that can make a significant impact, it's hard to find the best 75.
One question - in game 4 with Welder Shops, you should have dropped the Welder much earlier. A couple reasons
early on, welder could have been a Wasteland, when you were being hit with the Factory. Welder could have turned that factory into a Sol Ring.
Later, when he dropped Crucible, you had to turn that into a Sol Ring. All he had to do was return the use the Wasteland on your Academy during his first main phase, then activate his Factories during beginnning of combat, after the Academy mana was gone, so you could not tap the factories with the Staves of Domination. Fortunately, he missed it.
One question - how long does it take for you to win once you have infinite staff mana? How long in clock time, I mean? (I've gone off with Welders in the paper world, but never online.)
i assume your talking about rd 4 g1? the one where i went t2 chalice of the void for 1 t3 draw goblin welder? I couldnt play welder cause it would have been auto counterspelled.
as for the worker staff lock, i never had to go through the motions in tp or de play. and i havent practised it. i would guess it would take me at least 10 mins the first time, could probably shave it down, but it depends on what you draw too, and in what order.

BTW - welcome back Whiffy / PTV, we missed you.
My last event (I think) I comboed from behind on board, it took me about 6-8 minutes, because I had to get around a Thrun and Maze of Ith.
