Welcome back to The Perfect Game! Life events have conspired to prevent me from doing any real recording for PureMTGO for a while. But now I'm back, with a working headset and a new computer! The quality of my videos has improved greatly; as you can see, there is now very little lag, MTGO doesn't crash, and there's practically no echo in the audio.

As for the videos, I played Modern in a PureMTGO video series for the first time. The deck I decided to play was the BW Tokens deck that the Czech team--Martin Juza, Ivan Floch, and Stanislav Cifka, among others--played at Pro Tour Fate Reforged. The deck features enough discard and removal to interact with the unfair decks and has a powerful, resilient clock that is hard for the fair decks to deal with.

Here is the list I played:

The changes I made from the Czech list were:

-2 Fetid Heath, +2 Isolated Chapel

-2 Dismember, +2 Murderous Cut

Playing the Chapels was a purely budget decision, but they aren't actually that much worse than Heaths given that we have effectively 16 lands with basic land types. The Cuts are in the deck as a more powerful replacement for Dismember, although three copies of Cut seemed excessive so I didn't replace the third Dismember in the sideboard.

Here are the matches:

I like the deck a lot. I'm not sure what changes I would make--if any--moving forward. Zealous Persecution over performed for me, but that might just be the matchups that I played. The card is pretty bad when I have trouble keeping tokens on the board. Ajani Goldmane and Ajani Steadfast are also under consideration as one-ofs as other ways to pump my team. As far as the sideboard went, the one thing I have been missing is a way to actually remove artifacts and enchantments, but I'm not entirely sure how relevant that is because I have Stony Silence for Affinity and Tron.

I will be testing this deck extensively on my stream this week ( and playing it in a MOCS qualifier on Thursday, so you can tune in if you want to see more matches with the deck.

Thanks for watching!
