As I wrote here previously, last year I moved across the country, leaving my hometown of Salvador, Bahia to São Paulo, which is the largest city in Brazil. Now, Salvador is pretty sizeable itself, with close to 3 million inhabitants, but São Paulo is huge. Around 11 million people live in the city proper, with over 20 million in the metropolitan region.
Being in a city this big certainly has its advantages, especially when it comes to stuff like playing Magic. For example: Brazil only gets one or two GPs per year, and one of those is invariably in São Paulo, meaning I now get to drive around town to attend them instead of taking a plane. The same applies to PTQs and WMCQs, and now I also get a whole lot of different options if I ever want to attend FNM or play in a pre-release.
When Shadows over Innistrad came around, I decided I'd venture into one of the city's many shops to get my paper Magic fix. I ended up playing two events, one sealed (went 3-2) and a draft (which I won). Both my decks were green-black, and for that reason this combination was an early favorite of mine in this Limited format.
Sure, a few weeks later, SOI came to MTGO, and by then I was completely hooked on BR Vampires as my favorite thing to draft. Still, black-green can be super fun too, especially when it comes to long, grindy games. This is exactly what I bring you today.
That's all I have for this week. I hope you enjoyed this, and see you soon.
