Here's something drastic that happened in the transition between Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon: I went from actively trying to force black (black-red, more specifically) to actively avoiding it.
There are many ways to explain that (my main line is that vampires went from awesome to very mediocre). But bottom line is: black is the worst color. Most of its commons just aren't up to snuff when it comes to the aggressively costed, highly synergistic options available in other colors.
As a result, not only have I been drafting less vampires, but also less super-grindy black-green delirium. Today's event is one of the few opportunities in which that line of drafting actually worked for me.
Those were some pretty tense matches, and should make for nail-biting moments. The last game was a bit dull, but that's variance for you - they can't all be great, right?
