Note: all my prices come from the fine folks at
MTGOTraders.com. These are retail prices, and generally the price of the lowest priced, actively traded version. (Prices for some rare promo versions are not updated when not in stock, so I skip those.) You can get these cards at
MTGOTraders.com web store, or from their bots: MTGOTradersBot(#) (they have bots 1-10), CardCaddy and CardWareHouse, or sell cards to MTGOTradersBuyBot(#) (they have buybots 1-4). I have bought cards from MTGOTraders for a decade and a half now, and have never been overcharged or disappointed.
Standard Staples: Nothing new on the list, but a couple of cards could make the case next week!
Modern Staples:
Puresteel Paladin
is back on the list.
Eternal Staples:
Pioneer Staples:
Shark Typhoon
fizzled out and blew off the list.
Raugrin Triome
cycled away as well.
Leyline of the Void
and
Leyline of Sanctity
are back on the list after a short time away.
Pauper Staples: It's that time of the month, to go over Pauper prices. Daybreak giving the commons away to players really helped out there, as every Baldur's Gate common just sank like a rock in the
Sea Gate
.
Crimson Acolyte
came off the list.
Plated Sliver
is off the list.
Chromatic Sphere
has been sacrificed.
Reaping the Graves
fell off.
Rancor
is gone as well.
Standard Legal Sets: This table tracks the cost of a single copy of every card in each Standard legal set, plus Treasure Chests and the current booster pack. I’ll keep tracking these because they are interesting (at least to me). This is being kept as a small tribute to Pete!

The following is a list of all the non-foil, non-promo cards on MTGO that retail for more than $25 per card. These are the big ticket items in the world of MTGO. The list is interesting, at the least. This is interesting to me because a lot of these cards have been reprinted more than once, and they are still commanding a high price.

The big number is the retail price of a playset (4 copies) of every card available on MTGO. Assuming you bought the least expensive versions available, the cost of owning a playset of every card on MTGO is approximately a number that I cannot figure out still. I have actually asked Pete to do this for me, because Open Office is weird, and I have no idea what I am doing, and I am pretty close to just being a dog in a labcoat.
On Thursday, I decided to sell my MTGO account. It's not because I hate playing Magic, or hate MTGO or even don't belive in the long term viability of it.
I wanted to do something nice for my son, so I am going to buy him a couple things, and I am finally going to pay off Western Kentucky University the money that I owe them so I can get a copy of my degree. I'm proud of earning it, even if it is worthless, and I want to see it.
I did immediately buy back in to MTGO. I bought two Pioneer decks, 2 Pauper decks and 10 Commander decks with what I had left over.
I may not play as much as I used to, and Runeterra, Hearthstone, Eternal and Pokemon may get more time some days, but I don't think I will ever stop loving Magic.
Though I did start to pull cards for 11 Commander decks on Wednesday, so maybe I will hate things about parts of Magic.
This series is an ongoing tribute to Erik “Hamtastic” Friborg.
