State of the Program for July 24th, 2020
Double Masters: This reprint set is coming to MTGO, and it's coming next week! Starting July 31st, and going along with GenCon at home, we will see Treasure Chests contents updated, Codes for GenCon participants going out, updated visuals and more! You can read about all the cool stuff coming to MTGO here, and if you're up for spoilers, you can check out some of that stuff here and here.
GenCon at home: I mentioned it briefly above, but with Covid-19 still doing its things, GenCon has moved online. Pastimes is running events for the Con from the comfort of your own home, and you can check that out here.
PT Finals: They should be going on, or at least close to going on when this is live. Coverage will be on twitch.
FNM at Home: This week is Historic All Access.
This is a list of things we have been promised, or we just want to see coming back. Another good source for dates and times is the
calendar and the weekly blog, while the best source for known bugs is the bug blog which appears sporadically on MTGO.com. Not listed, but important: Wizards offers either one or two online MCQs each weekend, with qualifiers for limited MCQs running the days immediately prior to the MCQ.

Whatever I want to talk about here
Standard: This is what happens when people stop playing
Cry of the Carnarium. This deck went something unreal against Temur Reclamation during the last Red Bull event.
Historic: Was
Muxus, Goblin Grandee a mistake? It's a bit early to tell now, but a card similar to this goblin was just removed from the Historic card pool, so I imagine it will be joining
Winota, Joiner of Forces on the sidelines there soon enough.
Legacy:
Modern: It's been a while since I lost covered one of my favorite Modern decks and Double Masters is adding some key reprints to this to help keep costs down!
Pauper: Friend of the site, Alex Ullman, had some words about this deck here, and I could only copy him with what to say, so I'll
link to his words instead.
Pioneer:
Vintage:
The Winner's Circle is where I will recognize winners of the past events on MTGO.

MTGOTraders YouTube: Did you know that MTGOTraders.com has a YouTube page with videos added Monday, Wednesday and Friday? Well if not, now you do, and you can find it here!
Note: all my prices come from the fine folks at
MTGOTraders.com. These are retail prices, and generally the price of the lowest priced, actively traded version. (Prices for some rare promo versions are not updated when not in stock, so I skip those.) You can get these cards at
MTGOTraders.com web store, or from their bots: MTGOTradersBot(#) (they have bots 1-10), CardCaddy and CardWareHouse, or sell cards to MTGOTradersBuyBot(#) (they have buybots 1-4). I have bought cards from MTGOTraders for a decade and a half now, and have never been overcharged or disappointed.
Standard Staples: Lots of movement here as well. One could assume that this is because of the early release of Double Masters.

Modern Staples: Double Masters previews have really done a number on this table.
Eternal Staples: Much like Modern cards that are reprinted in Double Masters saw some downward moverment. I also wonder how much the "subscription" model might be hanging over things.
Pioneer Staples: I can't really say more about Double Masters and such here.
Standard Legal Sets: This table tracks the cost of a single copy of every card in each Standard legal set, plus Treasure Chests and the current booster pack. I’ll keep tracking these because they are interesting (at least to me). This is being kept as a small tribute to Pete!

The following is a list of all the non-foil, non-promo cards on MTGO that retail for more than $25 per card. These are the big ticket items in the world of MTGO. The list is interesting, at the least. This is interesting to me because a lot of these cards have been reprinted more than once, and they are still commanding a high price.

The big number is the retail price of a playset (4 copies) of every card available on MTGO. Assuming you bought the least expensive versions available, the cost of owning a playset of every card on MTGO is approximately a number that I cannot figure out still. I have actually asked Pete to do this for me, because Open Office is weird, and I have no idea what I am doing, and I am pretty close to just being a dog in a labcoat.
I took from Sunday to Thursday off from social media and Magic. I was in a poor headspace, and if you want to read about it, it as on LegitMTG.com. I have been much more happier without social media, and less happier without Magic, so I played an Izzet Control deck in a tournament on mtgmelee.com and did pretty well with it.
This series is an ongoing tribute to Erik “Hamtastic” Friborg.
