The Timeline

This is a list of things we have been promised, or we just want to see coming back. Another good source for dates and times is the calendar and the weekly blog, while the best source for known bugs is the bug blog which appears sporadically on MTGO.com. Not listed, but important: Wizards offers either one or two online MCQs each weekend, with qualifiers for limited MCQs running the days immediately prior to the MCQ.

Cutting Edge Tech

Standard:  I was excited about this deck because I love to cast Gyruda, Doom of Depths in any format that I can.  It just seems to have a really bad matchup with Dimir Rogues, and that deck feels like it is everywhere in the format right now.  I was going to play it this weekend, but after a testing session with my buddies, decided that I would play just about anything else.  Still with the right matchups, this deck can be a lot of fun!

HistoricNew Perspectives was something that I thought would see a lot of play when Amonkhet Remastered came out, we just got a load of new cycling cards, and it never really came in to existence.  It did go 6-0 recently, and it's pretty stout.

ModernPillage?  In a Modern Deck?   In this economy?  Of course I am going to feature it!  This deck is very on brand for me!

Pioneer: If you miss Wilderness Reclamation or Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath Pioneer might be the format for you!

Vintage Eternal Weekend:  I figured last week I replaced all the decks here with Legacy decks, the least I could do for Eternal Weekend is show off the winners of each event right?

Around the Web

MTGOTraders YouTube:  Did you know that MTGOTraders.com has a YouTube page with videos added Monday, Wednesday and Friday?  Well if not, now you do, and you can find it here

If you're looking for something to play in Standard this weekend, make sure you check out the standard tier lists on tcgplayer.com and CardKingdom.  Written by Adam Hernandez and Mason Clark, respectfully, these two bright content creators break down Standard and give great opinons on it.

Card Prices
Note: all my prices come from the fine folks at MTGOTraders.com. These are retail prices, and generally the price of the lowest priced, actively traded version. (Prices for some rare promo versions are not updated when not in stock, so I skip those.) You can get these cards at MTGOTraders.com web store, or from their bots: MTGOTradersBot(#) (they have bots 1-10), CardCaddy and CardWareHouse, or sell cards to MTGOTradersBuyBot(#) (they have buybots 1-4). I have bought cards from MTGOTraders for a decade and a half now, and have never been overcharged or disappointed.

Standard Staples: Fiend Artisan has fallen off the list.  Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast has done the same.

The Good Stuff
The following is a list of all the non-foil, non-promo cards on MTGO that retail for more than $25 per card. These are the big ticket items in the world of MTGO.  The list is interesting, at the least. The big number is the retail price of a playset (4 copies) of every card available on MTGO. Assuming you bought the least expensive versions available, the cost of owning a playset of every card on MTGO is approximately a number that I cannot figure out still. I have actually asked Pete to do this for me, because Open Office is weird, and I have no idea what I am doing, and I am pretty close to just being a dog in a labcoat.

Nevermind, ignore all of that, Pete got it done for me, because he is just the dang best. The big number this week is $23,420.  The last time this number was reported (October 16), it was $22,680.  We've got a gain this time! 740 may not be a ton, but it's something, right?

In Closing

I made the decision to drop playing Hearthstone right now while the many formats of Magic seem to be doing so well.  Got the start of a webcam commander rig going and hope to play some paper games with people all over the world as I figure out how to actually do it.  I'm nervous though, so I may not actually do it.

This series is an ongoing tribute to Erik “Hamtastic” Friborg.
