State of the Program for October 9th, 2020
Mystery Booster MTGO edition: This week's draft offering is Mystery Boosters. Phantom event, you can check out the set list here.
Eternal Weekend: Eternal Weekend is happening on MTGO this year due to the pandemic. You need a full account to play, and each event is priced at 25.00 to enter. There will be three events for Legacy and three for Vintage. Entry in to these, much like Pax Online and GenCon before will also grant temporary access to nearly every card on MTGO for the event. Read more here.
Limited Super Qualifier: The Zendikar Rising Super Qualifier is October 10th, at 2 p.m. PT.
Pioneer Split Championship Qualifier: Got 40 QPs hanging out on the account? October 11th at 7 a.m. PT is the Pioneer Split Championship Qualifier.
2020 Grand Finals: This will be starting as the article goes live. Each day features three rounds each of Standard and Historic on Arena. Omnath decks are nearly 73 percent of the Standard field. The Historic metagame isn't as bad. Coverage is on Twitch.
This is a list of things we have been promised, or we just want to see coming back. Another good source for dates and times is the
calendar and the weekly blog, while the best source for known bugs is the bug blog which appears sporadically on MTGO.com. Not listed, but important: Wizards offers either one or two online MCQs each weekend, with qualifiers for limited MCQs running the days immediately prior to the MCQ.

Magic Online Format Challenges
These are high stakes events that happen every weekend. They cost 25 Tix / 250 play points, and last a number of rounds based on participation (assume 5-8), plus a single elimination Top 8. Details, including prize payouts, are
here. Start times are:
Standard: It's so hard to pick a Standard deck right now.
Historic: I'm not sure how reliable the 6 wins in a row decks are from magic.gg, but I spent untold hours trying to make Enchantress work in the format, glad someone was able to get it done.
Legacy:
Modern:
Pauper: Pauper, to me, is starting to feel like Vintage, in that it is awfully hard to find a deck that hasn't been covered recently I feel.
Pioneer: Loving the amount of play that
Soldier of the Pantheon is seeing now!
Vintage:
The Winner's Circle is where I will recognize winners of the past events on MTGO.

MTGOTraders YouTube: Did you know that MTGOTraders.com has a YouTube page? Well if not, now you do, and you can find it here!
Note: all my prices come from the fine folks at
MTGOTraders.com. These are retail prices, and generally the price of the lowest priced, actively traded version. (Prices for some rare promo versions are not updated when not in stock, so I skip those.) You can get these cards at
MTGOTraders.com web store, or from their bots: MTGOTradersBot(#) (they have bots 1-10), CardCaddy and CardWareHouse, or sell cards to MTGOTradersBuyBot(#) (they have buybots 1-4). I have bought cards from MTGOTraders for a decade and a half now, and have never been overcharged or disappointed.
Standard Staples:
Rankle, Master of Pranks isn't seeing a ton of play and dropped off the list.
Vivien, Monsters' Advocate is off as well.
Modern Staples: I added
Elvish Reclaimer to the Modern list because it's the format I feel it sees the most play in.
Eternal Staples:
Dark Depths fell off the list this week.
Mox Opal is off again.
Grindstone is gone.
Pioneer Staples:
Kolaghan's Command came off the list.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance came off the list.
Vivien, Arkbow Ranger is also off the list.
Leyline of Sanctity hopped on the list.
Standard Legal Sets: This table tracks the cost of a single copy of every card in each Standard legal set, plus Treasure Chests and the current booster pack. I’ll keep tracking these because they are interesting (at least to me). This is being kept as a small tribute to Pete!

The following is a list of all the non-foil, non-promo cards on MTGO that retail for more than $25 per card. These are the big ticket items in the world of MTGO. The list is interesting, at the least. This is interesting to me because a lot of these cards have been reprinted more than once, and they are still commanding a high price.

The big number is the retail price of a playset (4 copies) of every card available on MTGO. Assuming you bought the least expensive versions available, the cost of owning a playset of every card on MTGO is approximately a number that I cannot figure out still. I have actually asked Pete to do this for me, because Open Office is weird, and I have no idea what I am doing, and I am pretty close to just being a dog in a labcoat.
Nevermind, ignore all of that, Pete got it done for me, because he is just the dang best. The big number this week is $24,075. Last week it was $24,090. Just a small step down from last week.
Gosh so much Fortnite this week as I am also now playing for my nephew's battlepass this week. Cassius came over Thursday and is here until Sunday, so we're gonna have a good weekend for sure while he is on fall break. A whole lot of Commander was played this week as well, as I have beeen working on decks for The Walking Dead commanders.
This series is an ongoing tribute to Erik “Hamtastic” Friborg.
