The votes are in and Dragon Stompy beat out the other three decks. It received 44 votes, leaving the other contenders in the dust. Brave Sir Robin was the only other deck that came close, but it still fell 12 votes behind. I'm kind of happy Dragon Stompy won, because I've been itching to play it ever since I played Goblin Prison back in December.

The one thing I can always take joy in is moonwalking all over my opponent, and boy let me tell you, this deck is more than capable of starting the game out with Blood Moon or Magus of the Moon in your opening hand, as well as a way of casting either as early as turn one. It's one of those sadistic feelings you get when your opponent doesn't even get a chance of fetching for a basic land before they are caught under the pale light of a Blood Moon.

The last time I played this deck I was using the exact list that Jacob Kory used during Grand Prix Seattle-Tacoma 2015. During the daily event for that article I came across a rather unfortunate bug with Pyrokinesis that prevented me from using the spell effectively. I have no idea if the bug has been fixed and I don't care enough to investigate it either, because the absence of Pyrokinesis opens up three slots in my sideboard to test out other cards I may like. I'm currently opting for one Sudden Shock because it's pretty darn good against creatures like Young Pyromancer, Monastery Mentor, and even Monastery Swiftspear. The last two slots are filled by an extra Shattering Spree (extra hate against MUD and Stoneforge decks) and my pet card Scab-Clan Berserker. I have high hopes for the Berserker being really good against ANT. I've yet to live that dream so here's to hoping I go up against Storm during the daily.

From looking at the polling, it seems this deck is pretty popular. This may be due to it being more of a rogue deck, or maybe because DRAGONS! I mean c'mon, who doesn't love seeing these big fire-breathing crocodiles beating faces in? Both Thunderbreak Regent and Stormbreath Dragon come packing built-in protection, too. Thunderbreak will Bolt any opponent who tries to target him, and Stormbreath has protection against one of the most widely used removal spells in Legacy; Swords to PlowsharesStormbreath Dragon is one of my most favorite creatures to come out of Theros block (Mistcutter Hydra being right up there with it), and I'm glad I can still play it in my new favorite format.

But I wholeheartedly believe the MVP of this entire deck goes to Goblin Rabblemaster. This rabble rouser can end a game quickly. Get him down on turn one and deal one damage with a hasty token. Turn two attack for six. Turn three, hit for 8. Then 10. You get it. Goblin Rabblemaster is a four turn clock, and combine him with Chalice of the Void or Blood Moon and opponents will more than likely not stand a chance against him.

So how do you pilot a deck like this? It's simple, really. You're hoping for openers with a prison piece and enough mana to cast it, preferably on turn one. Don't worry about a hand light on threats, you'll draw into those eventually. Magma Jet's scrying ability and Chandra, Pyromaster's -0 ability will help you in that regard. Just concentrate on locking opponents out of the game with Chalice, Trinisphere, or a moon effect first. Now, I'm not saying to mulligan until you have a prison piece. That won't work. We need the pieces AND fast mana, so each time you mulligan your chances of having both those things gets worse and worse. Dragon Stompy is basically a pseudo combo deck. We need to be lucky enough to simply begin with everything we need in order to "moon" someone turn one or turn two. If you aren't lucky enough to begin with a prison piece than a hand with Goblin Rabblemaster can be the next best thing. It also helps if we are on the play. This is not the kind of deck that can hold its own in the late game.

The one thing you need to remember about decks like Dragon Stompy is they are not tier 1 by any means. They have a lot of weaknesses, mainly concerning consistency, but if you're looking to punish blue decks with a ton of cantrips (which, let's face it, there are a lot of those in Legacy) then this could very likely be the deck for you!

Alright, it's time once again to hear from you on which deck I play for my next Will of the Council article. I am replacing Dragon Stompy with MUD. I will also be doing some more Journey Across the Multiverse articles in the coming weeks, so keep a look out for those. Until next time, thanks for reading, watching, and voting!

The next deck for Will of the Council is...
MUD
Shardless Agent
Brave Sir Robin
BUG Delver
Poll Maker
