While we're ribbing Pete for his awesome articles every week, I decided to run with this one.

Four LEDs costs 544 tickets. Ouch. You could get three Seas for the cost of just one LED! How many duals can I buy, then?

    3x Seas, 3x Tropical, 3x Bayou, 3x Tundra = 378. Wow.
    + 3x Volcanic (25) = 453
    + 3x Scrubland (17) = 504
    + 3x Badland (13) = 543

So there you have it. May as well do the last three duals, since they're cheap.

    + 3x Taiga (11) + 3x Savannah (11) + 3x Plateau (6) = 627.

The reason you only need 3x of each dual is because of fetches. Now, Plateau has already been promo'd, which is why it is so cheap. The promo for Sea has already been announced...

Stalling is against the code of conduct. What Pete's opponent did is an example of stalling. Regardless of the severity of the action, it is still against the code of conduct, and therefore should be reported. The only way to weed out these kind of behaviors is to report them quickly and often. The close that players receive a warning after such an action, the more likely they are to change that behavior. I typically also type something like "conduct reported" in the chat, so that when they get a message about this behavior, they know exactly what it was that got them in trouble.

The thing is that without a way to recur creatures, Necropede loses points, it doesn't offer much beside being a good defensive creature.
Broodhatch Nantuko it is more or less in the same situation as Nantuko Shade since it will get annihilated by Bane of the Living, but this could buy a lot of time too, chumpblocking, morphing and then making a bunch of tokens or just playing it faced up and maybe making your opponent afraid of combat.

"(Where the hell did that bad line breaks come from? Sorry about that.)" what do you mean by bad line break?

So I am not sure if you are being funny/zany/cute or didn't think It through when you posted it or what the reason but you say if you are complaining about dual prices try this deck with ony one dual.... Ten proceed to list a deck with lions eye diamonds in them. That's kind of a crappy move. Us nonrich and casual players obv get frustrated at the cost of legacy; if we are upset about dual prices don't try and placate ya by saying here's one with one dual and leave out the whole lions eye diamonds are gonna require you to sell a looooooooott of blood to afford.

I've never rage quit. However, a few years ago when an MTGO crash was expected every time I logged in, the program always seemed to freeze at the absolute worst time, making it look like I was rage quitting. Somehow MTGO just knows how to make you look bad.

  • Design and Drafting - M14 #2: Red/Black Sacrifice   11 years 43 weeks ago

Looking back at it, I definitely overestimated the amount of sacrifice outlets that I would see and table. I prioritized stronger cards over synergistic cards which was probably my biggest mistake.

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 139   11 years 43 weeks ago

You know me well! I'm currently considering an obscure Kamigawa block rare to enable some shenanigans.

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 139   11 years 43 weeks ago

    "that many 2 drop alternatives"
In a sacrificial deck, Necropede feels better. Also Broodhatch Nantuko, if you plan to go up to 3 Swarmyards.

I like Profane Command enough (like all the Commands, except maybe the red one), but it's another slow element in a deck that, to me, seems to want to be faster and more streamlined.

Garruk Relentless becomes better and better the more you use it. At first I was skeptical too.

(Where the hell did that bad line breaks come from? Sorry about that.)

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 139   11 years 43 weeks ago

I had originally a comment there: "(but of course this won't stop AJ from trying.)" :)

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 139   11 years 43 weeks ago

"Yeah, the Gods are a tribe, but unless they retcon something else to the God type, they're currently almost entirely unplayable as a tribe, since they're monocolored creatures that ask for a strong presence of their color."

I'm working on it. There are ways to do this. I will play God.

I agree with reporting CoC violations.

I am not sure I get why you feel you lost 1 hour and 10 min waiting for the next round. Oh I just got it: 7 x 10 min. I am not used to thinking like an Economist :)

  • Yawgmoth's Soap Opera - Episode 99 - Slaps and Craps   11 years 43 weeks ago

You must have some intuition, Montolio, because I never would have picked myself to win that matchup. However, Leonin Arbiter and Mental Misstep got the job done for me. Mother of Runes was brutal, but he only saw it in Game One. I actually kept a high-risk hand in the deciding game that was answer-heavy but only had one land and it paid off because I was able to draw two more lands in the next three turns. However, if I hadn't drawn those lands, I would have fizzled out and he probably would have beat me fairly easily.

As for Trinisphere, after looking it up, you apparently you still have to pay the 3 mana with Dismember, which is interesting because I initially thought it would be the opposite, but I guess Trinisphere only looks at mana spent and doesn't take alternate costs into account (fairly intuitive when it comes to something like FoW, but not so much with Dismember).

Interesting to hear that endless and craft didn't play. I was with Zach in that I couldn't see endless winning that matchup and was wondering how the hell he 2-0'd it. Speaking of how the hell someone 2-0'd a match, I'm waiting with bated breath to hear about Zach's match with albertorodalv, because that sounds like the most impossible matchup in the world.

helpful advice... maybe i'll keep her for a while longer then.... or get into modern. Maybe I can use my obliterators again!

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 139   11 years 43 weeks ago

Adding the 4th Blood of Cockroaches seems fine if you include Diabolic Intent and as you said try to come with something.
The Nantuko Shade it is a dylema, since it doesn't combine very well with the deck, but it is a solid creature and there aren't that many 2 drop alternatives.
I agree with Ant Queen being the top of the curve and I would like to use Recurring Nightmare too but this first version I thought didn't need it.
About Garruk 3.0, yea I haven't played a lot with it and I see the potential, it was just that in the games I played it didn't shinny to its full potential.
I have to disagree with Profane Command, at the end of the event the first thought was to add another one. It has so many uses that I think deserves the slot. Damnation or Black Sun's Zenith seem redundant with Bane of the Living and Profane Command offers more options, I really liked it.
By the way, thanks for frozing my sequence, I had completely forgot about that.

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago

Not to mention, in most decks LED is strictly worse than the Lotus, but the decks that really care about it would NEVER replace it with the Lotus.

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago

A *BAD* black lotus...makes me wonder. Does he think Black Lotus was a well made and fair card? lol.

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago

Quiting isn't wrong imho. Quiting without conceding that is wrong. How wrong? depends on how you take it I guess.

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago
    ??

Goblin Charbelcher isn't *that* expensive. Just $0.74 each at MTGOTraders.com.

But yeah, kinda. Of course Worth did mention that he was unhappy that a bad Black Lotus was the most expensive card on MTGO. Hopefully that means he will do something to cut its price - not print more expensive cards.

Informations about this walker come from Doug Beyer's Tumblr.
I foresee minotaur tribal getting a lot stronger and more popular. I also foresee, with my oracle eyes, that didgeridoo may grow in price ;).

Something got garbled when I sent the email to Kuma. I remember I accidentally hit the back button in the middle of the email, and apparently lost some edit I had made while typing up the challenge. So I want to clarify the rules right now:

    * Point 3 should include the sentence: "No colorless artifacts are permitted".
    * Like previous challenges, this one requires winning 2 matches, not counting forfeits or byes. the usual disclaimer stuff all applies.

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago

I guess it's an issue of scale.

Someone being abusive in a game is annoying one person. Someone rage quitting in an event is wasting the time of every single player involved in that event.

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago

Re: Legacy: If you are upset about the cost of dual lands, try playing this deck. It has exactly one dual land – and that one is one of the cheaper duals.

I'm kind of hoping this was intended as a subtle troll, given that that deck runs the most expensive card in all of MTGO as a 4x. ;)

  • State of the Program for September 6th 2013   11 years 43 weeks ago

City of traitors at over 40 is crazy. IS it because of Omniscience?
I thought about buying them at the start of the year when they were at 10-ish but i did't need them then. Then I needed them but they were at 20 so I figured they would go down, so I waited... Bad move huh.
