For the lose. It would be more helpful to you probably to track down the author online and ask them, your questions there. It is merely chance that I spotted your comment.
I'll vouch for Outcasts being 1.11 at one point. I bought quite a few from one bot and sold to another for 1.50 in less than a minute. Looks like I could have held on to them and made quite a bit more, but I made a few tickets out of thin air in less than a few minutes...hard to argue with a sure thing.
That's an important note, indeed: I forgot to evaluate the Warrior part of the Warrior Angel. She could be bumped up to Rating 1 then. :)
Also because in a monowhite Warrior deck you could just make Cloudgoat Ranger fly (with more power, more tactical value, less cc), and even Wingbeat Warrior (2/1 flyer for 3) seems comparatively better. :)
Beautiful. Well laid out and comprehensive. I have used Warrior Angel in a tribal deck: Monowhite warriors is just about doable. Equipping her with the automatic-attach-to warriors haste 2/1 equipment or two makes her worthwile at least in that deck. :)
Now's a pretty good time to be picking up Modern Cards.
for example: Pyromancers Swath is currently 0.16 tixs and has historically hit the 3tixs mark at times during modern season(or more if featured in a BOAB article on the mothership).
Please, PLEASE, don't insult the other players and their decks. I was getting so sick round 1 of your continuously berating the other player and his draft deck (because mill was impossible to win with). It was bad enough that I felt like turning off the videos and not watching them at all....which is what I ended up doing, until I watched all the videos I could find on this site as well as others.
No I can honestly say I wasn't tempted by it, to get the Pan to fetch its going to require an additional mana so you're losing two lands for a turn to fetch.. evolving/terra will leave you down only one
w/ regards to the land discard, I still feel keeping lands is the right play... rats is a 4/60 card whereas the discard could be more than 4 and against UB there is even a chance they arent running them (tho small since its a really powerful card).. if I'm set back a land well so be it, but I'd rather have my choice over discard and miss a draw, esp in a deck that can top some draw even without running blue
w/ stats - that's a great suggestion thanks! I'll take a look at it later and see how that works
I bought 4x Kalitas on 11.17.2009 and 2x Outcasts on 2.24.2011, but from bots not MTGO Traders.
EDIT: The lowest point for Kalitas was 0.50 around 3.02.2010. I don't think Outcast was ever below a ticket but it dropped down to a ticket right around when I bought it on some bots.
The idea behind speculating on Tarmogoyf was sound, but your timing was awful. It's price range bounces from $40 to $80 for the most part in the modern era. I got a playset two weeks ago for $38 each... back up to $46 today.
Your less than $3 mythics are a decent investment but I caution you not to give up and sell out early on them. Really you are counting on set redemption driving the price up on those not playability. So now is the time to be selling Zendikar block mythics. I just dumped 2 Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet at 7.25 each and a Dragonmaster Oustcast at 6.30. I had picked them all up a long time ago for a ticket or less. Maybe they'll rise a little more, but I wanted the tickets now.
Keep the fetch lands until you know for sure if they get reprinted (which I doubt). People like playing with original versions of cards when they become legal again and will pay a premium to do so. The Mirrodin Solemn Simulacrum jumped from $5 to $14 when that was spoiled in M12. The price fell off pretty quickly though.
I like Cryptic Command, Thoughtseize, and Dark Confidant right now.
As someone who is upset with standard, the spoilers have not reassured me in the least. There's a creature that gives you 2/2 flying Drake tokens and another creature that gives all your creatures exalted. Lingering Souls is going to be THE deck to play, and I really want no part of it.
I agree with you here Paul. The gunslinging was a neat freebie to watch and to try to enter one fast enough to play. I may be mistaken here or thinking of a different celebration but I thought there were moderately discounted drafts or events during the last celebration.
I'll most likely try my hand at IPA for 15 tickets since I've never done it before but I was underwhelmed by the announcement.
It doesn't take much time to buy 4x every Innistrad dual land (for example), and sell them sometimes this fall/next year. If you can make on average 1 tix profit on every rare/mythic you speculate on and it takes you 10 min to buy & sell a playset of a particular card (and it should take you *much* less), that's 24$/hour.
I was a bit disappointed by the celebration announcement this year. Last year they had gunslinging which is often as fun to watch as it is to try and play in. It was particularly fun for me because they had a few people playing Kaleidoscope, and I managed to get in a game. Also fun was the 2hg standard game that seemed so spur of the moment. The way the table was formed the players were supposed to play the WotC guys but it ended up being player/WotC guy vs player/WotC guy. I'm just saying this because I think it is a downgraded event without that. Particularly since there are no other community building events listed. (The rest are all great if you have spare tix/packs laying around.)
I'm like you. Sure, I could probably make some "money" if I worked really hard at trading, but I value my time pretty highly, and spending hours to make a couple of tix is not my idea of a good time.
I do speculate on some cards, but I do that mostly just because I like to prove that I can make a correct guess some of the time. I did that with Birthing Pods, and some other cards, and I was rewarded, but it definitely wasn't worth my time. Just another aspect of a hobby that I do not do for the money.
For people upset about standard, consider that they are releasing this thing called M13 in about a month... that should shake things up a bit.
Looks like I am playing Standard for a while. There are PTQs around here for RtR at the end of July early August, and you need to Q to be at the PT any more (no more side events or LCQs, if my memory serves correctly) There is an SCG Open on Sept 8th in Portland. Not sure event I want to do more, but it will either be Standard or Draft.
Yeah I did add him as well. I thought maybe since he was the author it went to an inbox or something. Thanks

ftl?
necroing old articles ftl? lol.
So if I add Unearth and 4x Wrench Mind what does the new deck list look like? Thanks in advance.
Edit: Or is this list to old for the current metagame?

When were Kalitas or Dragonmaster ever under a ticket?

Please, let me know about stuff that you like that isn't on here! I really wanted to know about that kind of info.
You're right, though, my usage of Red is pretty limited. You will see that I used Black and Green even more than White.

Well done and good luck at the PT. :D

On speculation,

Pretty sure you get the unhinged and the hymn there Pete as the leader text states "players will receive cards for each level they have qualified for"
It is long past time that they did something about standard. The format has been boring for a long while now.

Look forward to having ya.
There is one less Invasion pack paid out per draft. You forgot that they pay both 3rd and 4th.
