everyone playing slivers could be very interesting...or very boring depending on how it goes. If everyone ran Dormant Sliver it would be very very boring
well technically it does... I'm sorry if I didn't make this clear, but those interactions are done through AEther Vial, it's a big part of the deck though it may not be obvious at first.. it allows you to play the creatures around Counter magic as well as enable a lot of those tricks with Flickerwisp
I'm a little confused by your analysis of Flickerwisp interactions. I can see the Mangara + Flicker trick and some others, but some of the things that you say it can do would require it to have Flash, like O-ring + Flicker or removing attacking creatures.
As I predicted Rats would win, they did. Even though I built a cats deck I didn't have the confidence it would win so I didn't bother sacrificing sleep to attend.
I left it out after considering how unlikely it is that you would need the mana for aggressive decks since it's mana that you can't carry over... but it is somewhat like a "free spell" like Rewind...
Maybe this "free spell" could be abused too? Hmm...
lol I know, but I'm suggesting perhaps a bit too strong when every deck wants to make sure it has green for Tarmo, however you're right it is just a creature in a lot of matches, key is that its a fatty for cheap, I just feel its a very interesting point
I sideboard Tivadar in and board Mangara out when playing against Goblins. I have always found the card useful with and without an active vial. Early stps and Ethersworns slow goblins down enough to keep them from building a strong board. Burrenton Forge-Tender can block goblins all day but Tivadar kills multiple goblins when needed.
You dont have to have the special event as a format you could do other interesting things like red tribal week where your tribe must only be mono red cards like dragons or Kobolds, but the other cards in the deck can be any colours.
Or mono week where you whole deck must be a single colour.
multi colour week where all your non land cards must be multi coloured, better than K-scope as you would have run of the classic cards as well.
Single tribe week where everyone plays the same tribe.
Alphabet tribal where everyone must use a tribe starting with say "S" for example
"but what does it say about a card when every mono-colored deck is splashing for it?"
That the card is good :)
At the end of day it's just a generic good creature, though. Against creature decks of course. Against combo creatures that cost more than 1 mana are usually... weak. Take Gaddock as an example, if the Ant player is on the play chances are high that Gaddock will never enter the battlefield!
I played the Jund Allies. The Elemental assault deck wrecked me first round. Second round I beat my opponant, but I don't remember who that was. Round three I played Army of veterans and got off to terribly slow starts. It kind of bugged me. I spent a lot of time pay testing this deck over and over against a lot of PDC decks and it does fairly well. It really shines in standard PDC, but the tribal PDC just couldnt cut it. Hit me up if you want a deck list.
these prices are way overstated. yes mtgotraders may be selling them with that price, but when you go into market with the intention of selling other than obvious cards liek null rod etc. you cant find a buyer willing to give half of the price you are asking. for example i tried to sell a city of soltude and highest buyer i could find was willing to give 5 vs 8 you are listing here
I tested a Rats deck. My version ran four each of Chittering, Ravenous, Okiba-Gang, and Crypt. My fifth rat was Moonglove Changeling. I went with soldiers because I thought Rats would be better represented.
Rats, however, are not unbeatable, but they are definitely one of the top 5 tribes.
Actually, this is no rules contradiction going on, although it is a bit strange. The licid ability is setting up an effect that turns the creature into an enchantment-aura with indefinite duration. This effect persists even if the object that created it is no longer a licid. At no point do the jewelry cease to be enchantments or auras, so they should remain attached to the squire, albeit doing nothing as they have no rules text that would affect an enchanted creature.
All in all, just more reason why licids are a ridiculous mechanic.
You're kidding right? Whole metagames have been built around it. Landstill, Fish, Goblinsvile etc.
Indeed you did not make it clear. It took me 2/3 of the article to get it.
Oh, I get it now. I didn't even look at that vial card. Looks insane!

Otherwise good article!
Slivers!

Actually it says that the card is TOO good.

i know there are tons of options but i figured listing all of them would be too many so i held some back till next time as well.
I was just skimming this article until I hit that screenshot and WTF!!! Well played, it made me triple take. You broke the game within the game.
"Single tribe week where everyone plays the same tribe."
That has the potential to be rather funny and could come down to a better player or better draw in literal mirror matches

I dont think my prices are that far off, I know a well known bot chain who are buying City of Solitude at 7.6 at the time of writing this comment.

EXT or STD tribal
Theres loads of other possibilites

I gave you five stars (red mana symbols?) for knowing the correct plural of Sphinx. Nice article and I been wanting to build a Sphinges deck.
Yes. If you look at the historical data for them, Kscope caused a massive spike for pillar, and pool was riding high in Std at the time.

Cap'n Obvious is obvious..Obviously Grunt doesnt make it when compared to Goyf....
