I honestly believe that Deathmark is a must for the mainboard, and then if they aren't playing white or green, you can side it out. With the limited amount of good creatures in the other 3 colors, I've noticed (with my limited time playing m10 sealed) that almost everyone splashes or runs white/green in some form or another for either mana fixing and big creatures in green, or pacifism and other bombs at uncommon in white like harm's way or serra's angel.
too bad you were so wrong about the pe times.
currently we have a thursday nite and sunday evening event scheduled. Add to these horrible time slots that we NEED 33 PLAYERS and you see 2 wasted time slots that 99% of the time wont fire, since tournie classic is driven bt North American platers.
Thx for the red and blue dots they make the info easyer to digest.
In a tournament: yes. Every deck has its subtleties (even straight aggro) which means the best player will normally win a mirror match-up. Netdecking in tournaments is a perfectly legal way of winning, and hence acceptable. In a casual, round-the-kitchen-table match the emphasis is more on fun and making people think "that's cool" then winning (who keeps score of total wins anyway?) Hence people who netdeck are perverting the "format" if they hamper decks which do something cool and aren't being original.
The lands you use are the lands from the 1st draft/sealed event you played in since you logged on, eg if you logged on and played and OTJ draft, then you would use OTJ basics untill you logged off (this has been confirmed by an ORC)
The trouble is that for me, the best deck is always the next one, the next idea. There is always something else to write about. I will bear it in mind, though.
As for running out of tribes, I'd have to run out of ideas first: Even within a single tribe there can be a massive number of possible, intriguing and successful decks.
More great stuff from you Godot. Keep em coming please. I'm hoping to start my practical drafting education when M10 comes online so I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do in a few of them.
There was a point in my life when I had oodles of personal time, where I could scour through cards and card combinations to try to make my original deck idea. A rogue against the scourge of net-decks. That time has way since past, and I usually found out that what I was working on was already being worked on by someone else at the same time.
Now, I try to get my money's (time's?) worth out of playing, so I study net-decks and tinker with those. Someone else has already done the work for me and I can try to pilot the exact same, or slightly tweaked, deck and see where it goes. I put my dreams of grandeur behind me in order to make the most of my limited time by playing instead of coming up with the next big thing.
Also, going through lists of net-decks usually gives you plenty of info on meta and optimal builds, even if you didn't come up with the idea yourself.
...while it's true that it is a pretty good look at a budgetish mana base for Kaleidoscope, I should note that the first thing I bought with my winnings (and some miscellaneous draft leavings) was a set of Pillars. :-) I'm still not quite sure what to make of the format; I have a few thoughts, and honestly I should probably collect them into an article. The big things I'd change about the GWr deck, not counting the mana of course, are to swap out one Uril (4 is too many) and both Glares, and get in a set of Bloodbraids and then the fourth Finks. Pridemage was surprisingly underperformant for me; I'd go for either the Stillmoons if they're in-budget or possibly main-deck Valeron Outlanders. I actually like this last week's deck more, but it needs even more substantial revision. But more on that in the article... :-)
Maybe after all those The Art of Tribal Wars articles, it's time do a "The Best of The Art of Tribal Wars" article. You select 10 of your best tribal decks from all those articles, talk about them, rebuild them if necessary or tweak them and let the readers decide which one of those is your ultimate creation. I would definately be interested in that.
You can do that after you're finished with exploring M10 for different tribes and while waiting for Zendikar.
I noticed that when I drafted OTJ recently during nix tix, it grabbed OTJ basics in the Alara draft I did right after. Just a bug, I would bet that's what happened to my opponent in this case.
I will definitely be posting some M10 walkthroughs as soon as I can!
ever try doing a tribal deck dr? lol somethin to do once you're out of tribes, great article always look forward to reading yours, and got to play against that knight deck, lots of tricks up its sleeves i was suprised
How come the last guy you played has old lands? They aren't shards lands, at least not on my computer.
Last time I drafted, I tried Esper (again) and just got destroyed. I guess I got all the crap Esper cards. But hey, M10 is coming! Are you going to do drafts for that Godot?
Forgot that thing was a Mythic. Hurray for skewed rarities!
Obviously it's a bomb - but it's also a Mythic Rare, which means you may see it once every 20 drafts.
I noticed you neglected to mention Baneslayer Angel as a standout creature in White. Why no love?

Using Distorting Lens, I can (and have) used that tactic in testing the deck.

Intriguing protect deck as some one said you could add Painter's Servant, and name blue then you can go ld mode on the villian.

Funny you should say that: The answer is 'yes', and the thread is still up in the PureMTGO forums, other decks section.

Very nice. Neigh Ftw.
so, about that netdecking... can we see some lists? =)

Winner Winner chicken dinner.
Not whilst they keep printing them. I hear the siren call of yet another one in M10.
Good call, I'll have to try that some time.
Dauntless is fun to play... but man the format is so wicked. Sphinx is such a beating. So much so that i may have to play it or hate.dec next week.
