I'm loving the videos! Reading about Magic is neat and all, but I really enjoy articles with vids. Keep it up, man. Just out of curiosity, how long does it take Youtube to upload one of your videos?
I've decided that I might as well use up my play points before I complain about them again. I'm not excited by the three round daily events whatsoever.
I only play constructed Vintage. I haven't drafted since Khans of Tarkir, and I have no intention of drafting anytime soon. I do not like cube. I don't play Standard, Modern, or Sealed Phantom Menace whatever.
The way the system was, if I went 3-1 at least, I'd win enough to buy my next event plus leftover tickets, and that is with the lowest pack prices. Now, I have to win out to win anything, it just is not appealing whatsoever.
Like I said, I will refrain from commenting about it again until I've "tried it", but I'm not going to force myself to draft when I don't want to.
The other day, I thought about buying a second account so I could teach my nephews how to play Magic better. I would have let them use one of my decks on the other account. Then I realized that I can't even trade PP between accounts owned by the same person. Nice.
I really really want to be enraged by the CCC decision by WOTC. I mean how Draconic and unreasonable! They didn't even tell us what they were doing. They just went ahead and did it. But ...
I feel like being enraged is somewhat beside the point(and also does not help my heart at all.) What I mean by beside the point is that we don't HAVE a community for WOTC to listen to. Thanks to the draconian and somewhat enraging PAST decisions by the corporation, people who had been involved as community members have turned away from MTGO. Now we have a lot of players online but I would argue since the chat is non-existent and chatting is not only not fostered/encouraged it is actively discouraged, the very concept of community is absent from the game.
So WHERE were the votes supposed to come from? The 200 of us still logging in of the old school casual players? I suspect that would have been alright but really WOTC is so out of touch with me and probably you too there does not seem to be a lot of chance for that.
In a meeting room several months ago:
Some staffer with an Argyle sweater: "Uh guys? I dunno if you care but the annual tradition of the community cup is due to come up soon. Shouldn't we start sending out invites?"
Some other Staffer wearing a coffee stain and a faint smirk: "Oh yeah! Yeah you go ahead and set that up...yeah. Because we shouldn't let that slide."
Argyle Sweater Staffer: "OK but in the past we have asked the community who they want, even though we then went ahead and ignored most of them. It really gave a credible facade of democratic process. They really ate it up. Shouldn't we set that up again? Do we have enough time?"
Smirking Coffee Stain: "Nah...They are irrelephant. Just make your picks, send the invites and next meeting we will roll dice to see who fills in for the corp team."
Well that's how I imagine it went.
Melissa De Tora is on the enemy team? That was news and interesting. I have a theory that if you're at all interesting as a person and you VISIT the WOTC HQ (by invitation and not just because you crashed their friday afternoon office party) you get hired to do stuff. I dunno if that's true but I'd love to know.
Not sure if you knew this, but there's a "show versions separately" option in the deckbuilder, so you can pick which basic lands go in your deck. (Also, you can do what I do and give away your basic lands for free after you draft. There's always some fool who will take them.)
I can't believe they are going to do sealed cube again for mocs. As good as cube draft is, the sealed format is simply horrible, one of the worst formats I've ever played.
Just wanted to say I appreciate all the work you do on this series. I'll post this on your next article too because I know I don't often catch the comments on older articles.
Crap! Yeah well I never got a chance to play it lol. I read 'each' and then it inserted 'player' into my mind. So, it is only as good as it looks, whcih is still awesome.
And jeez now I hope I got that 4 card thing right, I know it's true in draft and could have sword I've done it in Sealed. I may need to email Mr. Editor Man...
I didn't know you could play more than 4 of a single card in sealed. I don't think I've ever drafted 4 of one common, but good to keep in mind. Also, Sentinel of the Eternal Watch is only on opponents turn, not your turn.
Volcanic offering can't target nonbasic lands or creatures that you control. The usual course of action is for your opponent to match your target to minimize damage, but with a life loss enchant of two on the creature you choose, it may end up being a three-for-one instead. Which would be the perfect time to flash in a ragged veins.
As I've shown, the packs can be worth a lot, even before you consider the inevitable Constructed-playable card or two that will be in C15.
Speaking of Constructed-playable cards, we have a minor update! It turns out Stifle will be the upcoming MOCS promo, meaning it most likely won't be in the LCPPs. At first I was surprised they would use Conspiracy-exclusive art for a promo--then I looked into it a bit more and discovered that the art was originally on a Judge promo. I thought they generally didn't reprint judge art on cards in a normal release--are there any other examples?
Say what you want about the prize payout changes, there is a lot to complain about. That said, the move from phantom points to play points is pure upside, you can now use those points to play in pretty much any event, not just phantom events.

spot on Paul. Seriously.

are fixed now!
Can't wait to listen to this one! I'd vote for you guys, if I had a vote that is. #MTGOCommunitySuffragemovement

I think there is a graph missing, messaged Pete about it. hope to have it up soon!
MD5- which was filled with money cards was made phantom.
ROE- which is filled with MM2 reprints- is a keeper.
Sigh.

Thanks! I always appreciate feedback, especially positive. Glad you liked it!
It's for all sealed matches. Whew!

Good stuff.
You have a great conversational flow to your writing - very easy to read and humorous too - good stuff!
IN your eye deck, you should maindeck a singleton copy of Gaea's Blessing to keep yourself from being milled.
Aha. It appears I have misread half of Volcanic Offering.
Thank you!

I should have pointed out in the second to last paragraph that the rotation of Gather Courage will be a little more painful than the other losses.
The packs aren't, the cards are.
Are they tradeable?
As I've shown, the packs can be worth a lot, even before you consider the inevitable Constructed-playable card or two that will be in C15.

These packs will have to be really good to make me want to draft.
I've never used the phantom points I was given. Now I have play points that I value equally (zero).
