During the last Ice Ages, ending about 12,000 years ago, glaciers flowed down into what is now Montana, causing some of the beautiful geography we see today. One of the things these glaciers did was to dam the occasional river. In this case, the Clark Fork (of the Columbia) River was dammed, which resulted in a huge lake covering a large chunk of western Montana.

When the message came down through the pipeline that this was to be Worship Week, I was torn. Many of you probably aren't aware that ordained minister is one of multitude of hats I have hanging on my hat rack. My ordination has long since lapsed, but I was clergy at one point in my life. There are so many thoughts that run through my mind with the word "worship", thoughts ranging from the sacred to the profane.

Modern Event Deck is coming soon, as is a Modern PTQ season! Woo hoo! You know what that means: craziness in the upcoming months. Some cool cards are coming down the pipe, too! (Not that I have a preview or anything) I'm also changing up how I look at the online Modern meta. Hey! I'm getting close to Overdriven! 100, aren't I? Hmmm...

There's two things that keep running through my brain when I think about GP Minnehaha. This first is the Mary Tyler Moore Show, and her throwing her toque up the air. The other is the Fargo franchise, both the movie and the TV series. These two seemingly dichotomous muses somehow tell me that #GPMinn will have a breakout rogue. Of course, I say that just before every Modern GP, and I'm always wrong. So take that prediction with a grain of salt.

"Where am I now? Why does it smell like a goat died a week ago?" It felt as though I were under some heavy fuzzy blanket. I slowly sat up. I may have groaned, I don’t know. I wasn't hearing anything. I wasn't seeing much, either. I rubbed my eyes, and felt hard grit come away. But my view was still rosy fuzziness. And why was that smell so familiar?

It all made sense when I wrote it.

It's that time. Another year has come and gone, and it's time to pull this strange rocket out of the storage shed and take it for a ride once again. What started as a kneejerk response to morbid trolling has turned into an annual celebration of the life and contributions of Erik Friborg. Join me on May 4th for the third running of Ham on Wry!

I asked some people about this article: "Modernity is the sum of all pasts and a glimpse into all futures- such is Overdriven 87" - a drunk Philosopher not named Bruce; "...make a toddler eat vegan food" - Another drunken Philosopher not named Bruce; "no." - My editor.

The Q2 Modern meta is shaping up nicely, and there are some surprises! Well, not really surprises, but it's still strange to see. You know what I mean. I think. Anyway, there's also some new(ish) decks, poetry, Overdrive! results... all the usual stuff. I included a soundtrack of sorts again, as well.

Enjoy another deck from the depraved depths within Yours Truly. We also take out the Q2 Modern meta for it's first spin around the block. (We'll take off the training wheels next week) Of course, we also have Overdrive! results, Overdrive! decks, and some random gibberish.

So it's Lands Week. I could bore you with sundry about Lands in Modern. I could, perhaps, gather a slew of decks that are Land based: Tron, Scapeshift, Summer Boom, and their ilk. Maybe I could wax poetic of mana denial, of Spreading Seas drowning lands, of Tectonic Edges slicing off into the abyss, of Wastelands beyond ken. Join me on a holiday...

There have been some movers and shakers in the meta recently. Aggro Loam has gone from zero to hero in the space of a weeks. Blue Moon has all but disappeared. R(x)DW and Ad Nauseam are slowly working their way towards the top. Plus a weird deck, Hunting poetry, and Overdrive! results. Enjoi!

With just a few more weeks left in the quarter, I start making plans for putting the Q1.1 Modern meta to bed, and starting fresh for Q2. There's also some fresh decks, and the usual gibberish and plugs.

Join me as I push the envelope again, challenging your perceptions of what is and what isn't. We'll take a look at the insanity fomenting this weekend for GP Richmond, which is shaping up to be nuts. Of course, there's the usual Modern meta breakdown, some random gibberish, and Overdrive! results.

This is something people south of the border don't understand. This is Canada. We changed our liquor laws to accommodate the Olympic hockey finals; this is a matter of public record. Once you're here, you are one of us. Once you leave, you're still one of us. Every one of you that have ever visited us, you are one of us.

Bad Kitty! *WHAP!* Ay! Stay away from my cheesy poofs! *WHAP!* Respect mah authoritay! *WHAP!* WotC spilled a pile of catnip by the Modern B&R list, and a cat orgy jumps out of the cake full blown! And where are all the dang fairies? *WHAP!* Bad Kitty!

I wanted to write about love and longing, and tie in to Valentine's day, but no inspiration there. So I whipped up some Bloodcrank instead, using an old Chinese recipe, for your recreational use. I also take a last look at the old Modern meta before starting a whole new ballgame.

The cry echoed the length and breadth of the land, carried ever further by fearful tongues. Humankind girded its loins as the Fae poised to once more invade the lands of man, still scarred with the aftermath of the last war.

The statute of limitations has expired, so explore historic Valencia with me as we take a look at the upcoming Pro Tour. We'll touch upon the upcoming Banned & Restricted announcement. (Will Modern go Helter Skelter?) Some cardboard slinging adventures are also presented. Oh! I'm starting to acquire minions!

Whir! Buzz! Click! It's Robots Week here at Pure, so I'm going to talk about Girl Power. (Huh?) Trust me. I also take a look at some cool decks from the Modern Dailies, and poke a stick at the MTGO Modern meta. You will also be exposed to a video composition, and the usual Event results and plugs. This week's soundtrack is Alan Parsons Project and Free.

Jump on in, the water's fine! In this post-apocalyptic missive, we'll make some of the decks from GP Praha turn their head and cough, then I'll expose my deck. Some changes in the Modern meta could turn things topsy turvy, or not. Then a flock? herd? of emus wander by. We finish off with the usual Event results.

Here it is, Monday morning, and I feel the pressure of having to put this puppy biscuit in my editor's hands soon. I know how I write. It's not pretty. I like to give him as much time as possible to agonize over "will I get in trouble for printing this?" And to check my spieling. Oh, and we talk about some Modern stuff, of course!

Face to Face Games and I are pleased to announce the return of Overdrive!, bigger and badder than ever! ~ I have a dream. A dream of closer integration between MTG and MTGO. A dream of one day being able to offer DCI/Planeswalker Points for PRE play. This is the first milestone on my journey to realizing that dream: a PRE with physical product as prize support.
