I'm not purged completely from my R/G obsession. But, this week, I'm taking a step back, and going a different direction in Modern. And thus far, the initial testing has been promising.

There have been a lot of updates to the structure of the Legendary Cube Prize Pack since my last article, and those changes have impacted the design. Still I have the initial version of the list for your viewing and/or speculating pleasure.

Alex takes a new approach to the two-person queues and gives up on trying to control the game. Instead he seeks to ask questions instead of present answers. His query: can you handle the Bogles?

This weekend is Eternal Weekend! For some of you, that means hopping off your computers and heading to Philidelphia to partake in the Woodstock of Eternal Magic. I wish I could be with you, but I'll be following along as much as I can. So it was not an amazing Magical weekend for me, results-wise. I played bad, built bad, and ran bad. Even with all that, I had fun. I got to hang with friends and watch my lovely wife Top 8 with the Mono-Green Aggro deck she has been playing throughout the season at the final PPTQ. But, with SCG Cincinnati coming up, along with a couple drive-worthy Modern GP's, it's time to fix the mistakes I made this week.

I told you all that I have been working on 2 different white decks for Standard. Inside I will show you what I have been testing and working on. Also I will address the craziness that is the Standard Meta and what seems like a great choice moving forward.

It's Friday. A mill deck won the GP, the Community Cup was chosen (did you miss the nomination?), draft build times are being cut, Stifle will be a MOCS Promo and the Eldrazi are back. Plus prices, deck tech and all the usual. Plus Pete proves 4-3-2-2s are better than 8-4s. (Well, only if you are a below average drafter - just read the article.)

Vintage is where Magic theory gets pushed to its most abstract and most extreme. Card advantage is not as obvious as commonly thought, but compared to tempo it is rather simple. Nothing shines a light on what tempo means in the game of Magic like Workshops, a deck that makes a convincing argument that something like Thorn of Amethyst is as fundamental a effect as things like Lightning Bolt or Ancestral Recall.
