This article is all about my love of blue. For the second part of CtRT I evaluate a large chunk of the counters in pauper, including a new Worldwake inclusion that seems to have slipped under people's radars. To continue the blue trend I'll show another creation of mine, UWsteel. To wrap things up I briefly discuss the current metagame, update my Dead Dog list, and give the answer to the latest "You Make the Play."

In the first installment of Perishing Puppies, I went over my experience in a Pauper Weekend Challenge. In this article, I look at the different components of the list, and how certain components can be switched around to accommodate a specific play style or metagame.

This is my tournament report from the Pauper Weekend Challenge on January 31st, 2010. In the tournament I played the Dead Dog (a G/B midrange) list from Doctor Anime's latest article. This deck took me to a 5-1 record in the swiss, and then to a very narrow loss in my first top 8 match against my worst matchup.

In the second half of my article, I offer detailed summaries of the remainder of my games from my ZZZ Swiss Draft. Did I manage to make up for my early mistakes and achieve a skilled performance, or did the play mistakes just keep coming? And did this Pauper manage to string 3 wins back-to-back and sweep the tourney, or did my final efforts come up short? Come check it out...

Tom provides a fresh look at the pauper format with new deck variations, their matchups and their strategies. One of these rogue decks proves its might against goblins at their best, and even dukes it out in queues. As a double-whammy article, Tom also reveals a poor card choice that ended up in multiple top8 decks in a recent pauper PE. All this and more! This article is being reran with a new update by the writer.

With the success of the Landfall decks in Pauper, I look back in time to see what could help me build my own variation of the deck. I find an option from Lorwyn which shapes the basis for a Landfall-inspired deck.

While there's been lots of discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of Zendikar in general, relatively little attention has been paid to the cycle of Common Nonbasic Lands. So join me as I explore whether the theme of Zendikar, "Land Matters," holds true for the upcoming season of Standard Pauper. And, as a bonus, I'll also evaluate the other Nonbasic Lands at your disposal and speculate on their place post-Zendikar.
