Music is kind of hard, because people love/hate all different kinds of music all at the same time. I don't want someone to open a video, hear something they don't want to hear, and then stop watching (because people actually do this instead of just muting the video).
Next week I have more lively videos (commentary!). :)
You're of course right about Unearth. If you try to, say, Unsummon an already unearth-ed creature, it will get exiled. So you have to be careful with them.
About Pestilence: I know I wasen't clear enough in the article and I was expecting this comment actually. So Pestilence doesn't get destroyed at the end of your turn if you kill all creatures with it because you use your Sundial. And during your opponent's turn he may not play a creature and then Pestilence gets destroyed of course.
But just to destroy your Pestilence (or your Pyrohemia) your opponent didn't play a creature on his turn. So in a way you just Time Walk-ed him. I know I didn't say all those things in the article but this is why I said that they are good with the Sundial.
Oh, and Pestilence, Pyrohemia, and Call to the Grave don't work very well with the Sundial since they will trigger on your opponent's end step as well. Unless he or she feels like helping you keep your enchantment, they can just not play a creature that turn and you'll lose it then.
Oh, and Corpse Dance should also work with Sundial. If it doesn't, I would blame a programming glitch.
Also, Sundial and Unearth only half work. Even if you don't have to exile it at the end of your turn, it will still be exiled if it would leave the battlefield. So Unearth doesn't like Sundial as much as other mechanics do.
Sadly Hamtastic (Aka Eric Friborg) passed away in April. There are several obitruaries published on Puremtgo and elsewhere shortly after this tragedy.
Sorry to be the one that breaks this news to you

As I understand sundial of the infinite, it works with stone idol trap, but not mimic vat or zektar shrine expedition. I'm pretty sure in each of those cases the token will be exiled at the end of the opponent's end step?
Hi Whiffy- whilst I agree that there is a random element to the Gush puzzle, I feel it is important to show these type of puzzle (Probably not a good way to open the series though). Often in magic there is a random element and you make tight plays to hopefully give you the edge, the best chance of winning. What is important is the way the pieces of the puzzle fit together to maximise the resources. I hope it was clear from the preamble to Puzzle 1 that the end point was not required. I thought about having the the puzzle with the soultion in the next article but it felt disjointed I really want to reach at the part of the audience that have no clue how to solve this puzzle and rather than have them disheartened they can click the spoiler text to show the soultion. This way they hopefully become enthused rather than put off. With the gifts puzzle I tried to break up the solution, providing a hint to the line of play in the first part of the reveal. I agree the audience needs time to work out the solution and that was the reason for the spoiler/hidden text. I mean I like that the audience can read my take on the line of play with a break down/explanation. If I had not provided solutions then the fist person to respond in the comments could have revealed the answers with simple one liners that dont explain how that position is achieved again leaving some part of the audience in the dark for a week.
Let me know if you have any ideas for Puzzles sir.
I liked this, there were two small reasons for not getting a full five fireballs.
1. The randomness of Gush in example 1 really detracts from the puzzle, there is so much that can go wrong, yes there is a good chance that it goes according to script, but it is too variable to be a good puzzle.
2. Can we have a puzzle with no solution in issue 2 and the solution in issue 3 or comments of 2? I like that you involve your readers more, maybe As an example you have a puzzle that you show us, and 2 that you leave the answer up to us. Then in the next one you reveiw the 2 answers and pose 2 more puzzles?
Wow, I was wondering where you were too. Not that I have been on a lot recently either. I hope you start feeling better soon man. That sounds horrible.
I enjoyed reading this (though I wish your videos were a bit more lively [music at least!]) since I never drafted OLS at all. I definitely disagreed with some of your picks, but like you said you didn't really know what you were doing but I did get something out of it. It was cool to see the game play and realize that there's so much going on in an OLS board state. So many morphs, on board tricks, it can get overwhelming and if I ever draft OLS, I'll keep that in mind.
Yeah, I still don't buy how there are "priorities". Don't get me wrong, those things they talked about ARE important, but are there only 8 people working at WOTC that they all need to focus on building the new client, etc.? Seems to me that there have to be some people that don't have any interaction with the new client that can brainstorm some ideas... enough that they can difinitevly say, yes, but not sure when, ala Masques block.
@ response to FTFY: You guys need to calm down. FTFY's remarks did not appear to be malicious in any way and for him of her, they were important and detracted from the viewer's experience. I'm with StealthBadger on this one that while they didn't annoy me, some of FTFY's suggestions could easily be done. Also, Whiffy himself even mentions once in a moment of waiting that there is a lot of space to be edited out... but no edit. Again, I don't care, but I think jumping on constructive criticism is counter-productive to betterment.
Whiffy: bad beats, man. Those were some rather close games and I'm not sure how much is just dumb luck and how much different lines of play may have resulted in different outcomes. Win or lose, I still enjoyed the matches.
Could it be that recording and playing don't go so well together? I know even the pros at ChannelFireball often remark how commentating distracts them enough that they make some small misplays and Classic is a game of inches. The Ancient Grudge incident, for example... had you not been recording I highly doubt you would have overlooked the Lodestone Golem. Also, regarding that... you really need to start clicking the spells first and not tapping mana first, so you can rewind and untap everything you had tapped to pay for the spell. The mistake wasn't in not producing red mana, it was in tapping first then casting the spell.
Re: Q&A: the whole power nine thing... *sigh*... looking at him say it rather than text, we're not getting it any time soon. They constantly refer to a list of priorities and P9 is nowhere near the top at the moment. First they need the new client and THEN after fixing any problems they will BEGIN to look at P9. >_< We're talking a year minimum and perhaps later. We still don't know about Masques even though they said we would know "soon", which apparently means "in a few months" in WizzoSpeak.
I don't see how any of these "annoyances" tie into Whiffy's knowledge of MTGO and last I checked "professional" typically indicates getting paid..which he does not(don't bother with the credits argument). The amount of time, effort, work that he puts in on a regular basis are WELL more than enough to forgive some slight oversights that really don't detract from the information presented and it's value.
Man, what a red green deck you could have had. Canopy Crawler is bonkers in this format, and you passed it for a White Knight? You could have at least taken the Aven Redeemer, which is one of the top white cards in the format. Oh well.
It won't happen. WOTC does it intentionally so they can sell more SOM and MBS in their store. We'll never get triple set again. Last time we had it throughout was I believe Morningtide but I might be wrong. Because I remember when they pulled the Eventide triple set and everyone put up a big stink.

Hammy?
Yah, I checked this, you're correct.
It's about cards with delayed triggers, rather than tests during the end step. It's a pretty comnfusing card for a core set, in my opinion.
As I now understand it, it should be going in my Sedris EDH deck?!
Sundial works with all the cards you mentioned. Including Kiki-Jiki and Splinter Twin.
So you keep your Splinter Twin token, you keep your Mimic Vat token, as well as your Stone Idol Trap token, your Zektar Shrine Expedition token etc...
LE

I didn't get Chicken Pox till I was 25. It is terrible when you are older, I was laid up for a month. Get well soon!

Q&A was great, thanks.
What was the point in sharing this draft with us?
Irrelevant format, poor draft outcome with no insight.
And I was wondering where Paul was recently. So yeah, get well soon and hope to see you soon online.

I just wanna say ty for the videos, they were awesome.
That sounds rough! I'm so glad I had chicken pox when I was akid, because I AM a scratcher. I would scratch my skin off! Get better dude.
