yea both were very well written articles backed up by tournament results.
I was just confused over which one to believe in since they are conflicting opinions and I couldn't tell which one is your latest opinion.
Thanks for the clarification and thanks for the excellent content!
I didn't realize that Quicksilver Dagger was a common. I used to play a fun deck with that horseshoe crab combo in real life. Bequeathal could also be a fun card. I think I will try to build a Haunting Misery deck. This was definently a fun read and it does help to see some cards that have been thrown to the back of the collection like these.
@ Anon.......I promise you I will never....EVER say Obamacare is good for us! I also will never include Kenny Rogers in any of my articles. Although Mr. Rogers is a possibility lol jk.
@ Paul - This deck rarely sees Turn 2 wins. I have won just as many games on the back of Progenitus as I have Painterstone. Legacy matches don't end on Turn 2 as much as people think. I think that thought process is flawed and often simply not the case in my opinion.
from my experiences of being jund vs naya allies - generally g1 is very difficult to win due to allies kabira evangel and generally their plethora of dudes. Pre-sideboard, Jund lacks the extra deathmarks/terminate/what have you to really keep up - barring some sort of multiple lightning bolts + terminate draw and a slightly sub-par draw from naya allies.
However, post sideboard, I feel its' not really close. Now you have the information that they are naya allies so you know what hand you can keep - in addition, depending on sideboards, you have the aforementioned cards. Generally as Jund, I will play the control role for a few turns to remove the allies that grow - then evangel, when she's the sole ally is not too much of a threat since high life was maintained and 2/3 isn't a big body.
problems do come up from a instant violent outburst into ally with evangel in play :( nice trick
maybe every 2 weeks/every other week? with on week at the end of a month you still have 3 weeks where you have fluxing power levels or low attendance because people are avoiding the chance of hitting tribal dredge/stone/w.e
Nice breakdown. It would be nice to see something like this each week.
You have my deck incorrectly classified as Goblins though.
I believe the missing TPDC deck is DoctorAnime's B/G Tortured Existence deck that he wrote about earlier this week. He squeezed me in the Top 8, due to my lack of graveyard hate.
Against Uw control I sideboard the following:
- 4 talus paladin, -1 path to exile +2 dauntless escort, +3 tuktuk Scrapper
You don't need the paladin to win that matchup, Haste guys are awesome. Dauntless escort prevents destruction (in theory) and tuktuk scrapper slows them down while at the same time damaging them.
Jace doesn't do anything in this matchup except sending allies to the back of the +1/+1 line. Most of the time i'll just ignore it unless I have Dauntless Escort. It's worth the split attack if you do. Can't have him bounce the escort and follow it up with a Day of judgment.
I knew I should have grabbed the last two earlier!
Thanks for the article, I'm happy to finally see a winning ally deck. I've had some luck - Battlesingers are awesome - but I'm still short full sets of the rares. Hopefully that will help when I finish those.
only problem with that is a theme may be stretched thin over four weeks unless it was broad enough, but while monthly maybe a better idea 4 weeks is a long time to wait for a theme change
If I could expand on what was already said. I think theme weeks would be cool, however, I like the idea of a theme month even better. That would give people a chance to improve their decks as the weeks go by. Not everyone can pump out solid gold on their first try like AJ. Most of my decks involve at least 50-60 playtest games with constant modifications. Here's a quick example for people who learn through examples.
April Theme Month = Only Blue creatures tribal (which I would think you would have to say, Grindstone is banned for the month, or any color hosing cards for a month where color is the theme)
Week 1: I bring Drakes. Not very good. Get blown out 0-3
Week 2: I improve my drake deck and do slightly better after seeing cards I hadn't thought of in other peoples' decks. 1-2
Week 3: More tweaks, go 2-1
Week 4: Final tweaks, beat AJ in the final round to go 3-0. Yay me!
P.S. This was just an example as I hate blue and everything in it.
Nice article. Is Kor Firewalker really better than Ondu Cleric? I kind of like gaining lots of life.
The Firewalker is also not counting with the ally-count.
Maybe naya charm is really good in this kind of deck. Serves as a Overron, Regrowth or a Lightning Bolt. Seems nice.

Paint it Black is probably one of the most depressing and yet beloved songs the Rolling Stones wrote. Love the classic rock reference. I'm going with the "Mick n Keith hate Painter/Stone" idea. Games that end turn 2 are abominations in my humble opinion. Sadly they happen far too often.

If anyone can point me to the site that provides deck formatting, it would be appreciated.

This week is a test - if the interest is there, I will try to do weekly.
Dr. Anime's deck is the missing deck, but it was not listed on pdcmagic, so I didn't know what he was playing.
As for your archetype - paste and cut error (and I was worried about that and I guess I missed one in my double checking).
Allies splashing black for abyssal persecutor us tearing up STD dailies.
every other week could work

or not since he won turn 4 against jund without a evangel in sight...
oh no, the theme would only be like the last week of the month that way people have enough time to build and test for it...
Nice breakdown. It would be nice to see something like this each week.

this deck can only win by drawing kabira evangel against jund

How do you sideboard for the blue/white control matchup?
I find it hard to consistently get 1RG alongside Ancient Ziggurat mana.
How did you fix that problem ?
Kor Firewalker will single handedly win games against any RDW varient. Sure ondu's pump your team but wouldn't you just rather win the game?
Great article BTW. I would suggest running Violent Outburst. It can make for some good shenanigans.
Will update Dryad Arbor's cost when I update for RoE and PvC.

Yes the Elder Dragons will come and crush all who get in their way
