I don't play 100CS, but read the article anyway. Why would anything be banned there? That seems overly regulatory to me. I understand the format is large and filled with enablers for combo, but each iindividual card has a 1% chance of being drawn. Maybe my inexperience in the format is showing, but that seems . . . wll, dumb.

It's april fools sorry guys I had to make one horrible joke.

  • I want to paint it black, no red, no blue. Hey, "What about green?"   15 years 12 weeks ago

Maybe I shouldn't of crossed that line in the comment section.

Did either of you have any comments regarding the article content itself, because the article made no mention of politics.

  • One Double O #32 - Urza's Saga   15 years 12 weeks ago

I question why any of the cards banned in 100cs are banned. It seems so haphazard to me.

  • One Double O #32 - Urza's Saga   15 years 12 weeks ago

    Thanks for the correction.
Now that you've mentioned it, I remember urza's legacy having more of such enchantment <=> creature cards.
    It's not common nowadays...

Anyway, heads up to anyone playing in 100 card Singleton events this week: the payout for the 2 man is still exodus... although the weekend PE has been rightfully changed to urza's saga packs.

  • One Double O #32 - Urza's Saga   15 years 12 weeks ago

I agree with questioning the ban on Academy.

It seems to me that they are just punishing the casual players that want to try building affinity or esper theme decks. I don't think this card would have much impact on tourney 100 singles Magic.

  • The Plunge   15 years 12 weeks ago

Hey now I have 4 of those Helices...I wouldn't call them free. Uber cheap maybe but I didn't buy mine so I guess they were free. Damned gifts. :P

  • The Plunge   15 years 12 weeks ago

Play Charbelcher honestly? Target an opponent's creature with Skred? Hardcast Proclamation of Rebirth? Blasphemy! I bet you're also happy when you cascade into Llanowar Elf.

I'm just kidding. I actually totally agree with your assessment of those cards. Especially the Charbelcher. I think it's fine to play it casually in decks that have land, too.

The "1 free premium (Lightning Helix)" in the middle of your last decklist made me laugh. That card is worth what, all of 50 cents? And your snow-covered lands are 20 cents? Actually, wait a sec. I think you managed to build a deck that:

    A) Runs basic lands as its only mana sources.
    B) ...and somehow the manabase is still the most expensive part of the deck.

    Good job!

Might as well run the Bazaar Trader.

  • One Double O #32 - Urza's Saga   15 years 12 weeks ago

Actually Lurking Evil is not vulnerable to enchant removal after it becomes a creature. I found that out the hard way over a decade ago.

"Stroking Moma" as it was called prior to Hovi's win was a very popular deck in NY. I designed a version that took 5th at states (piloted by a friend) and lost to mirrors run by the inimitable Chases (currently WotC employees I believe.) I'd say in a standard environment Academy needed banning but I don't think it is nearly as broken in a classic/legacy environment. It still will have a sharp impact on the eternal formats online but I suggest that it won't be key.

Yeah, I agree, no reason to get political in a magic forum. Should I bash whatever religion you're into? or should we just talk magic

    Splashing black for Abyssal lol.
The deck plays 3 removal spells!
    Fucking asshole! Funny though.

  • Ending Extended: DDT for You and Me   15 years 12 weeks ago

No worries man, I don't want you to think that I'm 'bashing' just to bash . . . they were both very good articles, and like I said before, nothing affected the 'credibility' of the info, it's just weird to see them both on the same day and all that.

You're one of the few writers putting it all out there like this, and you're really coming along well.

  • I'll Try It #1: Taking a Look at Budget Decks that Win   15 years 12 weeks ago

Looks fun, but it seems very vulnerable to a lot of latent sideboard cards people have versus other decks. I am also not sure if thopter+sword is the best secondary combo as the same cards beat/delay it as beat/delay your primary combo (e.g., ancient grudge, leyline of the void).

I assume you raven's crime yourself to get Cruel into your GY when you don't have a thirst?

    First, the play:

Game 2, when he plays hippie, instead of evoke mulldrifter, why not transmute infiltrator for agony warp?

Your deck is all over the place-if youre building around three drops of three different colors the first card that comes to my mind is Birds of Paradise. Rise from the Grave and Slave of Bolas will generally cost more than the cards they're targeting in extended, Marsh Flitter has no synergy with the rest of the deck, just vomiting chump blockers onto the table. Spreading seas is defensible, so I wont nag overmuch. You can get ancestral vision decent cheap these days and is great with coatl, as is remand. I know youre probably working with available cards and just having fun with it, but I thought I would offer some suggestions.

am I the only one who noticed that Krark-clan shaman can't do damage to players?

  • Back to the drawing board: Standard Allies   15 years 12 weeks ago

That comment was so bad it didn't justify a response. Abyssal Persecutor has no home yet. I have been trying for weeks to force him into ZEN Block vamps with mixed results.

Oh and something else I thought of. I do not run harabaz druid either.

I am thinking I might slide a couple in since they often are a lightining rod for removal while also allowing for some pretty nutty turn 3 and 4 plays.

Naya charms could help to increase the "win" conditions of having an unblockable team. I run them but I have yet to have to cast the tap entire team effect. I always end up using it to return a kabira evangel from the yard or something similar.

"Allies splashing black for abyssal persecutor us tearing up STD dailies."

Really? I haven't seen that at all...

  • Back to the drawing board: Standard Allies   15 years 12 weeks ago

I get around it by not running Zigs. I run stirring wildwood x3 and raging ravine x 1 instead.

I think your build may be right as speed is SO important to this deck.
