I somehow missed this article when it was new! For shame.
Regrowth is allowed as a 4-of in Legacy! I guess it's not broken. Regrowth is in the "rofl Vintage card pool" category along with Ponder, Lotus Petal, Lion's Eye Diamond, and a few other cards. Regrowth and friends are totally fine for Vintage - but casting 3 Ancestral Recalls in one game is not. Or worse yet, 3 Time Walks. With enough card draw effects a Vintage deck could too easily begin infinite recursion (infinite turns) just by playing 4 of these along with the power 9. 4x Regrowth + Timetwister is also kind of strong, surprisingly.
I agree the "sweet chin music" (so sad about HBK) was ryu's best move in 3rd strike..especially the EX version since you could ex into your super if you timed it right. Never liked makoto or dudley but Ibuki was fun. Luckily all 3 of them ibuki, makoto, and dudley will be in SUPER street fighter 4 which comes out 4/27. Also includes T-hawk, Deejay from SSF2 and then Guy and Cody from Final Fight I believe and some new characters.
I too prefer shotokan because I absolutely suck with characters that need to "charge" their attacks, but since the dawn of time everyone I know have always picked Ken. My older brother picks Ken, most of my friends pick Ken, and most people I see online / arcade too.
For SF3 I played Ryu / Dudley / Makoto. You can't say no to Ryu in SF3, he's got Sweet Chin Music! I'm shocked that they removed that in SF4.
I'll be picking up SF4 Turbo when it comes out and hopefully get good with Makoto again.
or it could come in turn 3.
t1: Forest, Joraga Treespeaker
t2: Forest, level treespeaker, 2 of any 1-drop mana-acceleration (eg. Llanowar, Arbor Elf, Birds etc.)
t3: Forest, you now have 7 mana for the wurm. 3 forests, 2 from Joraga Treespeaker, and two from your two 1-drop mana-accelerationers.
I suspect the appeal of the rats will remain in that they are easier to recur. What you may see is Crypt Rats as a main deck card and Pestilence as a better SB one.
Those are some low booster prices! Even Exodus. I'm kind of surprised that cracking a set of ZZW is so close to the value of "cracking" TSE. I would've figured that Zendikar was drafted into oversupply by now. I guess there are some awesome new cards to open in the third booster which is saving it?
ME1/2/3 will have another nix rotation in three months. For next time!
Thank you for crunching all this data. I find it very interesting.
Some of the cards that now exist online thanks to ME2 or ME3 used to appear on the old "PR1" (whatever it was called) tab. And they were never distributed. Most notably, Fork was in there. But so was Baron Sengir, Hand of Justice, Iff Biff, whatever. Some of the cards that had a price adjustment were never distributed. And some that were (Baron Sengir) are appearing on today's list because the undistributed version changed price in their database.
spells:
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Black Lotus
1 Brainstorm
1 Chain of Vapor

1 Demonic Tutor
4 Duress
1 Fact or Fiction
4 Force of Will
1 Gifts Ungiven
2 Grim Tutor
1 Imperial Seal
1 Lotus Petal
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault
1 Merchant Scroll
1 Mind's Desire
1 Misdirection
1 Mox Emerald
1 Mox Jet
1 Mox Pearl
1 Mox Ruby
1 Mox Sapphire

1 Rebuild
1 Sol Ring
2 Tendrils of Agony

1 Timetwister
1 Vampiric Tutor
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
1 Yawgmoth's Will
You may be wondering how Drelnoch is synergistic in here. The answer is you can pitch it to Force of Will.
True but for most decks Pestilence is harder to kill b4 allowing you to "go off" with it thus u can usually drop it the turn b4 u plan to use it where as with rats this usually was never the case.
the street fighter analogy is an interesting one as i feel ken is the best of the shotokan and the most balanced. Ryu is strong but slow, and I can see why some would like that but since they removed his Joudan Sokutou Geri I think he is not varied enough. Meanwhile Ken while having a slower recovery time with his fireballs which reduce spamming more than makes up for it with his Shoryuken which is obviously stronger and his Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku. Also Ken's ultras and supers tend to hit more. Akuma has a shockingly low defense though if played well can be a house due to his obscenely overpowered super and ultra and his variatons on the normal movelist. Gouken is just disappointing in my opinion.
please its all about scorpion and sometimes sektor. And that one guy with the hookswords that isnt Kabal...mavado. Mavado is a beast, if you know how to use him.
I know a lot of people see scorpion when they think of Mortal Kombat, but I am more of a Sub Zero kind of guy :), anyway I like the deck concept and am thinking of trying it out.
crypt rats still comes down a turn earlier which has value since goblins can pretty consistently alpha-strike on turn 4. it could (and probably should) fall a little but idk if it'll crash.
ugh for a second you had me really excited...I was like momentary blink would be awesome...then remembered the card draw triggered on hitting the graveyard, not leaving play... :(
You state: "...and no Privileged Position effects." Which is absolutely true.
I've been experimenting with Veilstone Amulet in some decks. I know it isn't particularly tailored to your Glacial Crevasses decklist, but it is a priv. position effect available to all colors.
Regarding snow lands and the veilstone amulet: This may be out of your budget, but I own two isochron scepters. Not a playset, but just two. I like to slap skred as an imprint, or lightning bolt, or Sudden Shock if I'm really lucky. Then during your opponents' upkeep or whenever you want the amulet to trigger, you can just pay 2 and pop the sudden shock copy, split second (or pop the skred copy for damage) and still obtain trollshroud

Three Kingdoms is actually part of Chinese history/folklore; not Japanese.
Yes, I see this in my Sek'kuar deck! Discard and and then bring it back to the field!
that sounds like a challenge, meaning i should probably pick up either SF4 or SSF4 and meet you on the PS3 network for a fight

Sagat and Muay Thai>Shotokan all day

I have this pretty good Drelnoch deck. The strategy is to get a high storm count and then Tendrils ftw.

1 Demonic Tutor
4 Duress
1 Fact or Fiction
4 Force of Will
1 Gifts Ungiven
2 Grim Tutor
1 Imperial Seal

Most who like Ryu go for Scorpian but if you like Ken I expect you would go for Sub Zero.

for a momentary blink
This is Primal Command again. This is playable.
I know a lot of people see scorpion when they think of Mortal Kombat, but I am more of a Sub Zero kind of guy :), anyway I like the deck concept and am thinking of trying it out.

There's a land that let's you add three to your mana pool if you discard a creature card.
