Erman, loved the article. I look at mono-green much diferantly now! I did have a couple unrelated questions though if you don't mind; How do you get your deck lists in such pretty little boxes? Also, what program are you using to take your screenshots? Can you take video with it as well? I ask this because not only is your article well written, it's put together in a very tasteful manner as well. Thanks a bunch and keep it up!
I did forget the Outcast; he will definitely give a boost late game to shaman who tend to top out at 3/3 it seems.
I don't know if Omnath or the Avenger will help elementals, but I can see Wolfbriar playing some role. On the other hand I do fully expect to see a plant deck in the near future with the Avenger.
Kalastria is tempting to me, but for some reason I don't know if she will make it. I originally thought she was a Cabal Archon for vampires but seeing the requirements make her slightly weaker though still good.
wow really? that's the power of a new set release, lots more Zen in the market now everything has dropped
and yes you know how that goes sometimes you are playing and just get opponent after opponent who get stuck on land or bad draws and get some lucky games, but over a larger sample of games a deck really shows it's true colors... im glad it did because I loved the counter deck
Fun decks. Interesting when you start off so strong with the Doubling Season deck, then it just falls apart on you. The Vesuva/Cloudpost decks I play usually have a little more land search to help smooth out the mana issues. Also, I was surprised to find out that Scute Mob is even cheaper now, going for .25 tix each.
Omnath, Wolfbriar Elemental, and Avenger of Zendikar are all elementals and all work very well with Smokebraider. I'm itching to use Incandescent Soulstoke to cheat an Avenger of Zendikar into play followed by a sac land.
Also Kalastria Highborn gets a lot more dangerous when you have access to several free ways to sacrifice Bloodghast. Goblin Bombardment anyone? Or maybe you prefer Greater Gargadon or Spawning Pit.
And my favorite tribe, Shaman, get Dragonmaster Outcast...
I have to agree with the list you have Lord Erman. Though I was looking at cards that actually lended themselves to tribal strategies. Otherwise the Man-Lands would have been number one for me. And the Eldrazi look horribly powerful, it scares me. Though I agree demon and ogre/warrior tribal just got a lot better.
To be honest I thought about it a lot in the past. I played all those "old" cards back when they were actually "new", and loved them all. I am still fond to most of them too. For example, playing Tempest block again(even for a short time), made me extra happy.
But Classic online, no. Sorry but no. Reason? Very simple. Budget.
I decided long ago to stick to the new cards online and that's what I'm doing right now. Sadly I can't play a deck with 4x Baneslayer Angels and then switch to another one with 4x Force of Wills. It was going to be either Baneslayer Angels or Force of Wills and I chose the angels.
I couldn't agree more. It was a nice easy read that was very enjoyable and educational. It isn't a format I spent much time on, can't wait till your sins bring you into the eternal realm.
10- Quest for Ula's Temple: Not my cup of tea but I can imagine that it made quite a few people (very) happy.
9- Join the Ranks: Yes yes yes, allies, we know it, next one please!
8- Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs: This one's interesting. Especially because he's also a Warrior. I haven't tried anything yet but I can think of a few decks that might use this one.
7- Dead Reckoning: In some formats this may be useless but not in Tribal Wars. You will always get back a good creature and hit one of theirs. A very good bargain if you'd ask me.
6- Perimeter Captain: He's a human, he's a soldier, he knows how to block and as a matter of fact, he loves to block. A perfect choice for slow decks and/or alternate win decks.
5- Bojuka Bog: As of now you don't have to add anything specific to your deck to fight graveyard manipulation. I know that many people complain about the no-sideboard rule of Tribal Wars, but instead of a sideboard you just have to use this kind of tools to fight specific decks. I would even consider this as a colorless mana source in my non-Black decks.
4- Stoneforge Mystic: Yes, Kor love her but not only them. The Auriok from Mirrodin would also welcome this lady.
3- Abyssal Persecutor: A fantastic card. Demon tribal? Yes please!
2- Manlands: All of them are very useful. I cannot think of a reason why one wouldn't play these if he's playing the correct colors. Having 24 creatures without actually having 24 creatures is excellent, don't you think?
1- Eye of Ugin: Did you see that monster? Isn't it beautiful(!)? Don't you want to play it? Don't you want to "Annihilate" the opponent with it? You do? Then go and get 4 of this right now! Just plain awesomeness.
Never happened to me like that, but I usualy have to click yes or no twice. I click once and then wait a few sec. If it doesn't work after a few sec I click again. I never had to click more then twice. Hope this helps.
If you wanted to list them, there would be many more than 10. They aren't what the article was really after - by design, Vengeful Rebirth (or practically any other card) wasn't *meant* to be bugged. This is all the difference in the world between a typo and simply not knowing how to spell a word.
The scrolling thing is pretty annoying in an event. That is a design flaw for sure.
The Goblin shell means the creature shell. Instead of typing out each creature name I just combined them. The Goblin creature shell for instance cost around $80. There are many white weenie shells, the deck I researched was more on the soldier side.
If you are interested in the actual cards for each shell just let me know here and I'll post decklist. You can also head over to deckcheck.net and search Goblin/White Weenie Legacy decklists for a variety of options.
There are way many more dumb things. Like during alara block boosters release vengeful rebirth was bugged... Really? the card had been available for almost an year without a bug and suddenly it doesn't work? Even worse when during the tournament that qualified for worlds over an year ago (timespiral+lorwyn standard) an important card that had also been around for at least 6 months was bugged. It was profane command. And they made sure they put it on the front page so people couldn't get a refund for it.
And in a big event, you want to scroll down it constantly takes you up...
Sure we can play magic on our computer but they still earn money from it (actually a lot more than irl) so they should provide a good service. The only thing that keeps people attached to mtgo even though it's so bad in many aspects is that magic itself is a great game and mtgo is an important testing tool (as well as qualifying tool now).
I would love to see your Doubling Season deck go up against mine. However, we do have major differences in our decks. Mine runs no removal at all. It attempts to win from creature flood. You went with the counter doubling, whereas mine is focused on token doubling. Since I am making tokens, I tossed in Spellweaver Helix. The deck is beyond fun. Was thinking about writing an article about it, but mine wins much less often than yours does. But I think mine is more fun to play. :-P ;-)
LOL!!
up to? I priced it at $2.7 when I wrote this last week

Heh, well, I guess the savings on Scute Mob is offset a little by the fact that Vigor is up to a ticket each now.

Here's my own Top-10 cards for Tribal Wars:

split second
exile target spell
you can have any number of"this card is banned" in your deck

the trap still tables ever time, not going to be too hard to get those. now when you show me a reason to take cosi trickster...
I'm dying for that new UI. Maybe multiplayer with a play area larger than a saltine?

just build a jund deck and call it lust
