How did hoarding of Vampiric Tutors backfire? I can sell mine in a second for 34 tix. Looks like the guy who bought a bunch at 20 is sitting on a nice profit.
I agree with "anonymous" to an extent; however, I feel he focused too strongly on your article. As he does briefly mention, this is an issue with all articles on PureMTGO. Whether the problem is grammar, misspelled words, or redundancy, it's the editor's fault. I assume he likes the content of the articles, and that's why he posts them. That doesn't mean he gets to shirk on his duties.
I always look forward to your articles and to playing your decks. This deck is no exception. Hope you don't mind... Did you ever consider boarding in a couple "Identity Crisis", or at six mana, is that too expensive?
i just want to thank you again for posting this. it's quite helpful to plan one's weekend w/ the help of your calendar. thanks for doing this and hopefully you feel it's beneficial to keep reposting it on a weekly basis for us.
Also...figured this would be a good place to ask. a month or so ago you made a comment regarding spliting into two clan's online. i was looking for that information and looking for a clan to join. what does a clan actually do these days and how do i join the pureMTGO clan?
There is a perfectly valid solution that doesn't mess around with bodyguard at all, you just have to remember that reducing an opponent's life to 0 is not the only way to win a game of Magic.
wow, well good luck with your shoppe, i would btw call it shoppe with 2 p's and an e to create the olde tyme feel thus generating more interest....just saying
have you tried that Angel deck? the creature base seems shakey. I suggest running 4 Dryad Arbors. In my deck I like running things that double up, just to make sure the condition is always being met. Artifact Creatures, Artifact Lands, Creature Land (the arbor). The only real problem is the enchantment part. I thought about running that Enchantment creature from futuresite, but didn't like that it was white. Granted my deck is Esper colors so I could run it if I wanted to.
P.S. did they change the way card links are working? cause I can't get mine to work in my latest article that I am attempting to edit today at work.
I always liked the name of that deck; Bomb-Erman. Cool!!
Anyway, good article Shard as usual. I hope to compete this weekend. I'm working on a nuke for the gunfight but I still have issues with the deck and let's see how it will turn out. Hopefully I can finish it until weekend.
Back in the day, Bomberman was a dominant deck in competitive tribal. Of the bannings, I have no opposition to any of them given what they can do in Classic.
Autorun? not exactly. The week prior to the Elementals, I hit second spot with Moatless voltron soldiers. The week before, 2nd place with moated angels. Prior to that, moatless knights abusing creature type destroying cards.
I will usually run cards designed to wreck everyone elses' game plan based on the meta. These cards will not be fun to play against if they hose your deck. The decks I put them in are usually competitive. I was the original guy who said it (Whilst advocating for a PRE), and I live by it. Call it a self-fulfilling prophecy. ;)
And I absolutely agree on the Artificer deck: I loved what Mel did with it. Brilliant deckbuilding.
I'm amazed monoblack can't build around the most crazy mana acceleration of all time - Mr. Dark Ritual...even using Phyrexian War Beasts would rule...ATTACK!
Well done article...however, who WOULDN'T love THAT sideboard! It has 17 cards ;) I often wonder why memory lapse isn't used in a pestering style deck, even more tempo and frustrating goodness...
Actually i hate to disagree a bit here as MBC and MBCu both have such a swiss army selection of tools to be had and used and I'm pretty sure that what Alex's whole point was rather then here's MBC again. And he and you are both right MBC and MBCu will ALWAYS be a part of the meta but for that exact reason, they have too many tools to be able to tweak them completely changing the way the deck runs to not always have the ability to have a list that can compete.

sorry for the n00bness here guys but isnt crypt rats and uncommon? therefore not pauper?
Hey Hammy, what happened to the 1-of collection price charts? I always thought those were an interesting overview of the "market"

Edit: On second though, maybe that doesn't work. I guess I'll have to wait and see the solution.

Will you have any online presence? Could loyal readers order boxes from you or anything like that?
Are you going to have any Grand Opening events for your Card Shop?
Interesting puzzle indeed ! Nice article too.

Haha... erm... I guess not. Nevermind then
Many articles only present decks, but this article also goes in details about tuning a deck, which is something we dont see often.
Keep up the good work!
Just to be clear, I was absolutely not dissing the running of moat. I'm all about just running the cards which lead to the wins!
I believe that "ANY" means it can also target opponent's creature.

It can, but that's Mono-Black Aggro, where as this is Mono-Black Control.
