There are some cards that put cards on the bottom of their owners library but they tend to be blue or white. Great article as always Adam. I have a soft spot for Grenzo.
I'm really excited about the Tezzeret list, I'm testing it tonight and tomorrow for the MOCS and will probably fall back to twin or tron, but bridge feels so good against the metagame right now.
I knew the other lists were missing split cards, and I manually added those, and just completely missed the aristocrats board. Just floated right on by it this morning.
I really scoured the databases for bottom-caring cards. There's some other Scry stuff in red and black, thought only a handful of cards, but they weren't good enough to include in the build. I'm hoping some new scry stuff comes out that eventually makes it even better :)
I enjoyed this! It's too bad there aren't more cards that care about what's on the bottom of your library. (Or are there? I couldn't find any after a few quick searches.)
Archangel of Tithes' first taxing effect is only working when she is untapped. So, Twin player will still create enough tokens, then with the last activation he/she will tap Archangel of Tithes with either Deceiver Exarch or Pestermite. One Archangel of Tithes won't stop a twin player, at least we need two or more angels in play to hose this combo. Or a Spellskite to shield Archangel of Tithes.
I would love to see a Splinter Twin player's face when he sees this card, although to be fair there is a high chance that this Angel will simply be countered and the Splinter Twin player will win on the following turn.
Thanks, Joe. I can't really take credit for this particular build, though. It's a pretty standard BUG Delver list. All I did was replace the second Liliana for a third Hymn (mostly because I only own one Liliana). The sideboard is a mixture of many sideboards, taking certain cards I liked from other decks until I got to 15. And yes, I agree, Legacy is awesome. I'll have more Legacy articles in the future, for sure!
hmm, I think this is actually highlighting a tension for Mentor. It is hovering around a place where it is expensive enough and threatening enough to arguably warrant sideboard/maindeck hate. Just like Oath of Druids, incidentally. Something like Delver of Secrets, or even Young Pyromancer, is not a fast enough threat to demand an direct answer. You can just race it or deal with it incidentally with spot removal or trading with other creatures you have a round. It's hard for really any creature, even six and seven power lifelinkers, to race Mentor. The problem I guess- and this goes back to your comment about it being a combo piece- is that once your on that threat level of Oath or Tinker, you get hated on. That makes life harder.
God I love that deck. I miss it a lot. Legacy is awesome, I should start playing it again like yesterday. :)
I never even played in a single Legacy Daily, although I think that now I could probably find time for one or two a week if I play the right time slot.
When I was playing Team America, I'd beat some decks like Sneak and Show, Reanimator, or ANT most of the time. So much so that I always thought that Reanimator wouldn't be any good. Once I actually played those decks for myself, I realized that they indeed are awesome and powerful.
I like your build. Stifle versions are good too, but they require a slightly different philosophy while piloting them. Team America is considered to be a tap-out tempo deck (although "tempo" is a somewhat elusive and hard-to-define term), and tapping out to play bombs is at odds with the fact that mana needs to be left up for Stifle or Spell Pierce.
The Hymn versions typically ran all or mostly mana-free counters like Daze and Force of Will so that they could maintain some control while tapping out for Liliana's, Hymns and the like.
Sweet deck, I always like your articles. EsPECIALLY the Legacy/Vintage stuff you talk about.
I am also a fan of Brimaz, because he is excellent value for 3 mana. Sure, he is not at the same high power level of the Fleecemain Lion in terms of tempo and resilience. I also don't encourage more than 2 copies of Brimaz in a deck (not 3 like many people play), because Brimaz is not so amazing that he is worth the risk of holding 2 copies of him in the hand and being held to ransom by something like a Thunderbreak Regent or Stormbreath Dragon. Brimaz is a solid answer to Goblin Rabblemaster, Warden of the First Tree, and to a lesser extent Fleecemain Lion and Rakshasha Deathdealer.
I am happy that the Mother of Runes will NOT be appearing in Origins. I really hate that tea-sipping bitch with a vengeance, I'm sorry to say that, but sometimes we must face the truth with these types of women who run around providing protection from colors.
I can see where some employers would treat women as just the "office chick" or the "warehouse girl" and not give them a fair shake during their annual evaluation and not perceiving them as part of the actual workforce when, in fact, they are. That does need to change. In my experience, women that did the same job and have worked for the same amount of time as me got paid the same as me, but I also worked union jobs where these kinds of things never occurred in the first place.
As I understand it, this has a lot to do with negotiation and how employers negotiate with men vs how they negotiate with women. There is a lot of data out there but it is hard to parse so there may be more to it than that.
My only problem with that is if women do the same job and get paid less, then it would be logical for employers to only hire women, seeing that it would cost them less to get the same job accomplished. Or at the very least hire way more women than men. I may be wrong here, but there has to be underlying reasons why women are getting paid less, and it may or may not be because of overtime, working out in the elements, or working dangerous jobs that a lot of men are willing to do and a lot of women do not want to do.
Fred aside from a few weird outliers the claims are made by people who claim to be doing the same job for the same hours. And the evidence is there for the picking. You can deny its existence. That is your right, but that does not make it so.
Don't confuse card count economy with card advantage. They are not the same thing. Don't get hung up over how many cards you have in hand. When they are the wrong cards you haven't gained a thing.
This is not a contest. I remain skeptical that "women make less than men." There's a faint barnyard aroma arising from that statement.
Mostly when I hear the argument, "Women make less than men," I have questions.
Are they doing the same job?
Do they have the same levels of education and experience?
Do they work the same hours?
Someone online was complaining about how male teachers make more than she does. She was asked what she does for a living. She says she is a part-time teacher.
Not sure why she as a part-time teacher should make as much as a full-time teacher (regardless of sex), but she thinks she should.
Yeah, I'm from Vermont and know of that guy. Not a huge state.

There a lot of sweet lists here. As someone who is always looking out for interesting new Modern decks this is a nice collection.
2 Wear/Tear missing from the Aristocrats sideboard.

Thank you very much for all of your comments.

If you wrote an article that consisted of nothing but that second paragraph about Mother of Runes, I'd give that article 5 stars every time.
Yes almost categorically the complaint is farther up the ladder than even mid management.

Just as your assertions do not make your claims true.
There is evidence on both sides. I remain unconvinced.

I'm testing out Ghostly prison because it doesn't die to pyroblast.
Against dredge, they have to kill it. The dredge decks play very little mana, so they're likely to be only attacking with two creatures at best.
Against shops decks, they can't deal with it and it slows them down.
Both of those uses are a bonus, the real reason why I am testing the card is mentor mirror matches and young pyromancer.
In the end, it might turn out that a sweeper effect might be better, but I don't know yet.
Just my two cents.
