That's not saying all that much. 3 specific colored mana is still a lot to pay for a spell that puts any land from your library into play. Volcanic Submersion is the best mono-colored land destruction spell in Shards of Alara. That doesn't mean I'd play it because even though it's the best of it's kind.
You are abosulutely correct. I'm so used to playing with bounce in the forms of Repulse and Cryptic Command that I often forget their are non-cantrip bounce spells.
Oops, sorry. Guess the video lagged and I didnt see the Valeron Outlander getting killed the first view. My bad. Looks like some horrible mana flood and the 2:1 with the Branching Bolt really blew you out that game.
Why didnt you run the phyrexian Vault over the Fear?
You mostly have 2 power guys, on who fear is not that scary.
Vault would have worked well with the small guys like rats, festering goblin, firefiend and for the cyclops who always run into something bigger.
Also think you should have hated the Mystic over the Shatterstorm.
You already had a Smash.
"I have heard it before, but I still do not get it. Even in movies ppl that get they head cut of (monty python and the holy grail does not count :P) or get stomped on by a large monster die at once and that is closer to combat in magic when ppl shotting each other with guns..."
And you could view this as the difference between creatures with 'sac' effects (those are the heroes that despite wounds that would kill a normal person still manage the heroic sacrafice, like the Uruk-Hai beserker who still dives into the wall with his lit torch to explode the bomb in the Two Towers) and those without 'sac' effects (these are the common joe's that just die or are unfortunate enough to loose their head or get stepped on by something big and heavy).
The point really is that both 'sides' of this argument can see exactly what they mean and accept thier version because it feels correct to them. You can't please both sides and some will feel upset enough by being forced to use the one they don't like to either 'not start playing' (these are the people that WotC hope keep by these changes) or 'take a break from playing' (these are the people that WotC will loose, maybe not forever, by making these changes).
It is, after all, only a card game. A great one, I'll give you that, but still only a game.
"My preferred analogy would be from movies, where people can get shot a dozen times and die in a someone's arms. There's plenty of time to sacrifice them for their organs (or search for a land)."

Btw. I think the right approce would be to sell atleast the expensive standard (and extended? I do not know that much about the price drop when stuff rotates out of ext) rares, since they drop quite sharply when getting out of standard. You can just rebuy them (proberly for a profit) when you get back if you want them.
I broke up with Magic twice and at the end couldn't resist it and returned. My reasons were very different than yours though.
So as someone who has enough experience with "taking a break", I have one very important advise for you: Do NOT sell your cards! Never! Ever!
Once you've been bitten by the poisonous Magic bug, it is almost impossible to truely quit playing it. All you can do is to stay away from it for a while. That "a while" could be months or years. But one day you will eventually be back. And when you come back, the last thing you would want will be an empty binder.
it is really cool to watch the videos here, ty for that !
The games are pretty interesting and most of the decks seem really well built & pretty solid. The deck of Ogre is very potent : Defiler of Souls + Broodmate dragon gave to him a deep advantage (especialy the defiler which seems to have a special ability like "when defile comes into play, your opponents have to say gg" :D ). The strategy with early outlander & zombie worked very well to gain enough time in order to call the bomb... GG
nice article. About your selection of white removal, in my experience Retaliate is an useful card : yes it involves you have been damaged to use it but it remains however a wrath of god effect at instant speed which is handy because it provides often a nice tempo advantage. No love for this card ?
mostly decent picks, except for your first. Tidings is huge in limited. Blue is the best color in xxx. And you way way overvalue highway robbers. Congrats though.
I thourougly enjoyed that. I fall victem to sideboarding so often. Most times I do not tune my board the way I do the main. Because of this I find my self boarding haphazardly some events. It was nice to see your perspective on it.
That's fair. I missed the exchange of you seeing his hand therefore knowing what he had to potentially blow you out with.
I would have made a minor mistake, but if going back would you have attacked into it anyway, just to get it out of his hand and maybe open yourself up more to a different game plan?
Yea I saw his hand early on and knew he could cycle resounding silence if I attacked. I personally didnt want him drawing a card, I prefered to keep his 8 lands untapped. His deck was perfect vs mine, pro black and stingers were the nightmare matchup.
first off thanks for posting these...fun to watch
you seem to have mislinked one of the videos. Game 1 Edel vs Orgg Ascetic shows cjswoosh vs kreeler game 3.
thats cool that you did that, but it would be better if u just shut up instead of commentating. you saying the things before they happen is like getting a heads up on whos gonna die at a scary movie. more shhhhhhh please.
But since the hands are not available in the replays, it's not really fair for anyone to say he played really bad. We miss a lot of information by not being able to see what is in the hands.
If it were me though, that Drake is getting in there as soon as my Outlander resolves.
I agree completely,I can't see any reason not to attack with it leaving the pro green guy for def and either we're both missing something or that was definately the wrong play.

It's fine if you disagree with me. I can see both sides of the discussion as to why the changes are good and bad.
I don't claim to have all the answers. I just have my opinions.

Just my thoughts.
I double Top 8'd the exact same two events the weekend after you did. Except my Kalei and 100 Top 8s were both first round losses. Epic fail.
Turn 3, cast resounding thunder targeting the player...MODO season 3 T8. Seriously?

that is not a bad way to do it either

Nice article. I am one of those people who cant make or use a sb correctly. This is some of the easiast to understand guidelines on SBs I have read.

yeah if you noticed I stopped talking after I figured out I could not work out the audio and video delay.
Watch the rest of the videos, they are with out commentary.
And next time, be a little less rude. No one likes a jerk.

Of both Semi final matchups have been posted.
Enjoy.
The remaining rounds of the Quarters and Semis are being uploaded, and I hope to be able to have them up before 8pm est.
