I'm definitely up on the current PE metagame, as that is the normal subject of this article (look 3-4 weeks back) and the PE breakdown will be returning this week.

It has seen some success, but it also has been showing up in numbers.  The amount of top 8 spots are about par for the course when they have that many in the field at the start.

ill let him know montco that you want to reach him im not sure if he has seen the article yet.  So i'll show him.

Sweet: Elementals are getting ALOT stronger with the elemental banneret and smokebraider you can dish them out fast now.  I want to experiment something with wizards a merfolk/faerie wizard.  Some of the decent cards are wizards to begin with, Mistbind Clique, Wyden, spellstutters, silvergill throw in sage and scion you can drop a 5/5 wydwen quick or a 6/6 clique super fast for some quick beats.  Potiental card draw+shroud always good

in round 2 of the mirror i find it right to side out bolts and stifles for threads and pyros.bolt is a pretty dead card in the mirror as it doesnt kill anything on its own and the life from stp makes racing harder threads lets you play w/ more tarmogoyfs then they do and pyro is just awsome.

not gonna lie. you were on the wrong side of the fence when it came to picking roles. i generaly always wanna be on the reserve w/ that deck but its opening hands can effect it.also the match up which you didnt know to well and the fact that i can read your hand from experience gave me a little edge.

nice report  i almost wet myself on the exchange of bob and the force keeping him home  and grats on top 8

I too pegged the snitch to be a big leader in rogue decks early on... infact, the weekend that morningtide came out i stocked up on 4 of them at a buck each, and recently bought 10 on ebay at something like .32 each.  Aunties snitch is free recursion, somewhere between Squee and Flashback.  I can definitally see it making t8's everywhere.  ESPECIALLY if shadowmoor includes a changeling direct damage spell.

If you have time you might want to check out some of the top 8 replays of standard events on MTGO.  I have seen what I suspect to be almost this exact decklist used, and its been in the top eight in atleast 2 of the recent standard PE events i have looked at.  The Meta appeared to be very faerie oriented, so that could explain why.  I also noticed that some faerie decks are allready sideboarding with this in mind.  Saw some Dragon's Claws come into play after sideboarding in one match.

  • Tribal Wars (Classic) - Fun on a Budget   17 years 7 weeks ago

Nice article.  Love the inventiveness and the fun.  I can see how these would be a joy to play.

  • Tribal Wars (Classic) - Fun on a Budget   17 years 7 weeks ago

I liked the article and I liked the different take on tribal. I deffinatly want to try the insect and druid decks. My one suggestion is replacing the quagmire druid with krosan restorer. It's .01 cheaper, fits the tribe, untaps a land, and later becomes more efficient at untapping land.

great article.. love the decklists.. i may try a few of them out and build my own.. i'm glad you didn't go with the "obvious" tribes (like Elves, Humans, Gobs)

Ah!  I found where those Legends went!

Here's what I searched for, see if you can spot it more easily than I did:

Filter Creatures only, then search for "legend &~flip".  Things look good as it doesn't show you the creatures that turn into legends but aren't legends until they do so (like Bushi Tenderfoot).  However, it also removes the Legendary creatures that become Legendary Enchantments... like Erayo... ctrl+q+e.

You forgot a lot of the flip legends, which are also viable choices for EDH (ie; Erayo cycle, Nezumi Gravrobber/Nighteyes and cohorts etc).

    lol

I said the same thing when he brought that up in the puremtgo room.

  • PDC and Morningtide   17 years 7 weeks ago

First, Shard Volley. This is close to a staple card in FutEx and Standard aggressive Red decks as one damage for three mana is always a bargain. Coupled with Incinerate and other strong burn spells, Red decks could get a real shot in the arm in Standard and more importantly, FutEx.

Please explain me how one damage for three mana is a bargain, hehe :)
