Thank you Zahori, iceage4life, and rasparthe for your comments, I was under the assumption that Kuala Lumpur was block, and we all know what happens when you assume.... Point taken, and I still hope the article will be of some use to you.

A fine article, but come on: Where is the editor?  PTQs for Kuala Lumpur are Limited, not constructed.

  • LRW Release Event Problems   17 years 25 weeks ago

I think we could organize a boycot,  It may not cripple their business, but if enough people did not buy just for one day they might take notice.

Also, do not complain to Hasbro, as they do not care about being a parent company to one who has a track record of poor quality products, and even more poor quality customer service. 171

yeah I came a clicking for some sealed advice.. alas no dice.. good article though.. won't help for PTQs would have liked a few other decks other then really just the treefolk one you listed..

I love MTGO.. I love the product.. I even love the GUI and I love the game. But now the lags have affected the causal play. I couldn't even get a game in yesterday.. but I can't apply for a refund because I didn't "pay" into a tournament.

I don't want to stop playing magic. I love the game, I want to give them money. But regardless they'll turn it around.. I don't draft and I don't play in PEs often so it doesn't really effect me.. I have given up on Leagues a long time ago.

  • Establishing the Lorwyn Block Metagame   17 years 25 weeks ago

I agree.  PT-Kuala Lumpur will be Lorwyn/Morningtide booster draft and PT-Hollywood is Standard.  As Iceage4life says, the current Qualifier season is Lorwyn Sealed and the next for Hollywood is Extended.  Hopefully though, Block PE's on MTGO will start up soon after Nov 18 when the release is over.

I startyed this just after Wis. states - Sower was ahead of Cryptic, at least in paper.  Krakow seems to have changed that.

You are rght on the merfolk / fairies colors.  I realized that I was mixing fairies and merfolk when I played a  faireie fetcher in a pure merfolk sealed - but if could get Nameless Inversion.

I suspect I copied an early list of the RG - both Smokie and Changeling Berserker are in the deck now.

I'm torn on Final Revels.  It seems like it should be as good as Pyroclasm in Tenth, but it never works out.  It is eaither a very iffy removal spell or a super slow and marginal pump spell.

Personally, I don't beleive Eyeblight's Ending is a common.  I have done several sealeds and some drafts - and I have seen zero.  Must be ultra-rare.  Seriously -  it is good, and I should not have skipped it.

I didn't have any warning I posted and was banned, checked email and say a nice little message.  btw keep blowing your money on a crapy company encouraging them to keep sticking it up our tail pipes.

  • LRW Release Event Problems   17 years 25 weeks ago

Seriously you knew that they were not happy with your posts.  I have no information about private emails but from what I saw on the boards you had plenty of warning.

  • Establishing the Lorwyn Block Metagame   17 years 25 weeks ago

What PTQs are you talking about?  The current season is limited and next season is Extended.  Not sure if they have announced format for PT Hollywood will be Standard or Block probably.  Dunno, I'm just confused.  Block play outside of MTGO probably won't start until we have Morning Tide at least.

I for one stopped buying product from MTGO about a month ago. The server status is horrendous and every time I complained to a WOTC representitive they were entirely uncaring. No, I am not going to wait for a new release to come out and fix all the problems. From everything I read it will be full of bugs when it does get released.

WOTC needs to take responsibilty for the state of the system and fix it. By fixing it, I am not talking about disabling every "feature" of the game. You might think that disabling all the things they have would have improved things, but I got on to play last night and after creating a game it took me 10 minutes for it to start. And this is after they have turned all these "features" adding to the lag off.

I spent an average of $100 a month on cards. They will not see another cent from me until the stability of the game servers are fixed. I can assure you that if enough people followed suit they would miraculously find a cure to the problem very quickly.

I am not saying no one at WOTC cares, but obviously the right people do not. Until they do, they won't be getting a paycheck funded by me anymore.

I totally agree, i bought some packs and it is the last time i ever do that.  I will buy singles from mtgotraders and have fun in casual.

  • LRW Release Event Problems   17 years 25 weeks ago

What I want to know is this:

Why is it unacceptable to organize a boycott, when it is acceptable for us as consumer's to deal with their low quality customer service, or the fact that the program is unstable for most of the time it is up?

It's sad, any other company that tried to offer something like this would be put out of business, and the programmers should be ashamed of themselves for letting something like this continue, instead of fixing the issues.

They can blow smoke about v3 all they want, but until I can play it, make my v2 expirence as worthwhile as my order history has been for you.

I will join the boycott, besides, it gives me a better reason to give money to mtgotraders.com :)

  • Level With Me   17 years 25 weeks ago

I really like your style, this will be a fun deck to try. I already have my leveler and panda ready to go. Just need to drop in some words and voila.

I can't wait until the next article in your competative on a budget series comes out. Keep on writing.

  • LRW Release Event Problems   17 years 25 weeks ago

    Just a reminder/statement:

Calling for a boycott of a company on the official forums of said company is not a great idea. I know that many of you are extremely frustrated, and in my opinion, you have every right to be. But even still these boards are not the place to try to organize an actions against a company.

If you'd like to say that you're not spending any more money on the product that's fine and a personal choice. Encouraging others to not spend money (i.e. Boycott) is not acceptable.

    Thanks,

    ~Brak

Perhaps, a GB would be viable, the Harbinger becomes a blocker until you get bigger creatures, rather than an offensive threat. I would love to see a decklist.

I've been having some success in league with treefolk builds. I've also played against quite a few other decent-looking builds that rely pretty heavily on trees. Although Doran is certainly worth building around, I wonder if there isn't a good mono-green or GB build that leaves Doran out.

BELOW IS THE FOLLOWING EMAIL I RECEIVED AFTER A BAN,

    Hello Arronwolf,

I'm afraid I need to have a word with you about your reply in the
    thread
"How many are Frozen?". The reason I'm e-mailing you now is that your
thread qualified as Inappropriate Conduct - Off topic, which is against

    the Wizards Code of Conduct.

This is not an official warning, however, please refrain from posting
    in
such a way again. We have a rather strict policy about not allowing
posts regarding boycotts which is essentially what your post was. IThe
official WotC message boards are not the place to post boycott
recommendations. Also, your post qualified as flaming, as calling
    people
bastards (whether you're referring to players, or staff) is
    inappropriate for our message boards.

harassment, or needs moving to another forum, please click the link to

    hesitate
    to let me know.

  • LRW Release Event Problems   17 years 25 weeks ago

They banned you from the boards for talking about boycotting?  No warning or anything?

  • LRW Release Event Problems   17 years 25 weeks ago

Everyone should just stop buying product from WOTC until this is resolved.  Obviously our complaints are not being considered  and solutions to these problems are not being listened to.  The only thing this guy WORTH says is generic speak and apologizes for his staff's and company’s incompetence. The only way to get this company to do the drastic decisions that need to be made such as adding more hardware to stabilize added people and getting more people in to develop a client that works is to STOP BUYING PRODUCT.

SO STOP BUYING WIZARDS STUFF, STOP PLAYING IN DRAFTS, PE'S.   Money is the only catalyst for this solution, STOP FEEDING THESE PEOPLE MORE MONEY.

Also I got this message after posting this on WOTC forums.

You have been banned for the following reason:
Boycotts are not allowed on the forums. Please check your email. -Brak

Date the ban will be lifted: 11-08-07, 04:00 PM

Thanks for the info Heath.  Why can't they give the server more capacity?  This has been going on for far too long.

  • Lorwyn and PDC   17 years 25 weeks ago

I think you overlooked this token-producing card. This will be a build-around card, at least in Standard, as long as there are elves. And there are usually elves.

You know me, green token-creature lover. I'm already trying to make it work.

    Comprehensive review. Nice jorb.

  • The Tribe Goes Marching One By One (Hurrah! Hurrah!)   17 years 25 weeks ago

Nice deck ideas for singleton, which is a very fun and innovatie format. I only wish Mtgo had type 4. I look forward to readin furture articles

  • Lorwyn Release Survival Guide   17 years 25 weeks ago

I like most of your articles this one just seemed kinda weak.  For black removal you didn't mention the common and splashable Eyeblight's Ending.  Cryptic Command is worth twice what Sower of Temptation is.  Merfolk is a UW tribe not UB, faeries are the UB tribe.  And goblins have no reanimation they have graveyard recursion.  Lastly Elementals are a tribe and have the best mana producer in the format, Smokebraider (turn three Mulldrifter, turn four Hostlity? sounds good to me).
I don't mind missing a small thing here andtherebut there just seemed to be alot of wrong or misleadinginformation andlittle content of value in this article.

P.S. Treefolk and giants can both be good but require careful drafting and deck building.  Both are relient on getting solid three drops mainly Battlewand Oak in treefolk and Stinkdrinker Devil in giants.

  • Lorwyn Release Survival Guide   17 years 25 weeks ago

My R/G/x build was almost the same, and that's the one I like best.  Differences from your build
-1 Axegrinder Giant (Too many better fatties)
-1 Lignify (Last cut; other removal is better)
    -1 Lace with Moonglove
    -1 Forest
-1 Island (With only a single Blue card, I'll take a chance that I'll see one of 2xVivid or Fertile Ground to cast it)
+1 Changeling Berserker (Not sure how you missed this; it was in your R/W/u deck)
+1 Smokebraider (now casts 8 spells in the deck; that's good enough for me)
+1 Final Revels (This is a must)
+2 Mountain (More balanced R vs G now)

And there's some fantastic sideboard cards for that build like Footbottom Feast (recur your evokers), Peppersmoke (will usually cantrip if there's weenies to take out), and the Lignify that didn't make my first cut.
