The allure of a high reward for a scant $25 dollar buy in is always a great draw for Magic players, so it should be no surprise that there's usually a huge amount of turn out for these.

It doesn't hurt that the winner gets a first crack at Zendikar online.  That's right folks, Zendikar goes in to extra-early-pre-release today!  Best of luck to the MTGO players who make it in to the first event.  If you signed up for the first one and didn't make it in, there will be another one this afternoon, and two more tomorrow!

May you all crack a Lotus Cobra... or two!

I'll update the details, as they happen!

A staple of any tournament coverage, Mr Orange (aka Evan Erwin) provides videos and event coverage details for many, many events.  His Magic Show is a great resource for all things Magic.  I'm loving being able to cover the same event as he is, I've enjoyed his work for years.  So for a change of pace, I"ll report on the reporter and snapped a candid of Evan doing what he does so well!

Keep up the great work Evan!

Here is one half of the new set up for the MTGO Live Draft events ($25 to join, $5,000 in prizes), it has grown from one eight player pod to two eight player pods to essentially allow double the amount of people to join in the attempted draft fun and frivolity.  This increase is based on the past huge amount of people trying to get into the event and the high amount of people that had to be turned away from each of these before.  Hopefully this will allow more hopefulls to compete for the high level cash prizes that they're interested in.  Look for audio interviews and player profiles of the contenders tomorrow!

Perhaps the coolest thing for me from today is my first ever press badge...  I've never been an official "press coverage guy" before, and this is really cool to me!  I lost count of the number of times that people looked at me, then to my badge, then back to me again.  I even got my first ever paper recognition of someone who placed me as a writer from PureMTGO.  And that was even before I was wearing my PureMTGO shirts, as I'm reserving those two for the Pro Tour itself.

As an artifact of my writing evolution, this will hold a very special place in my collection.

This is a pretty new way for me to communicate, and for those interested, I think that the easiest way to follow the action will be via the following address: http://puremtgo.com/coverage/pt_austin/rss

I generally use Google Reader (reader.google.com) to follow the blogs I'm interested in, but there are lots and lots available to choose from besides Googles.

It's not even the big day. It's only Wednesday; but I'm already restless. Like a child waiting fo Christmas morning the anticipation is building.

I'm packed and ready (or as ready as feel I can be...) but even still... there's so many unknown things for me that I'm still feeling a bit
overwhelmed.

Too late for that though!!
