3,023I've never been much of a combo player, so I wasn't quite sure what I was getting in for when I picked up modern Amulet Bloom. I was in for a very pleasant surprise, and have had a huge amount of fun learning this intricate, synergistic and powerful combo deck built around a bunch of taplands and insane ramp effects.

2,812This is the last weekend of Modern PPTQ's, and, no, I'm still not qualified for the Regional PTQ. I've tried plenty of decks...Mono-Green Aggro, Mono-Green Infect, Gold Guys...all to no avail. As we wind down, and I play in the final PPTQ held locally, I think it's time to go back to my roots...back to the deck I like most. Which means I'll be playing something Red/Green this weekend.

5,074It's Friday. Pete has written a wall of text this time, so strap in. We have Pro Tour news, Pro Tour deck tech, Hall of Fame announcements, a MTGO crash, new events and lots of price changes. WotC's Lee Sharpe asked Pete what type of event he would like, and Pete responds. All that, plus a bonus opinion section of not giving a GP to Legion Events next year. It's over 5,000 words, and worth the read

3,060The Legendary Cube Prize Pack is a new way to distribute cards on Magic Online, but it's still a collection of mostly reprinted cards. As such, I deduce as much as I can from the various announcements, then lay out my plan for the design.

2,794Taking a break this week from my usual Modern chatter to look at a couple of the hot new decks from the PT this past weekend. As I assume others will cover the biggest breakout decks, both Blue-Red Artifacts and Mono Red Aggro, I wanted to give a little love to some of the other decks that maybe flew under the radar or aren't getting the adulation thrust upon the Top 8 decks.
