I have been playing a fair amount of Magic recently, but I have been stuck for an article topic. I have drafted a bunch, played a lot of Standard, played other formats - but I don't have great new tech of a brilliant new observation. I should have been working on that stuff, but I've just been enjoying playing Magic. Okay, I'll write about that: fun beats, fun decks and winning.

We have many theories on why certain cards are better in limited, but we lack empirical data to actually test any of these hypotheses. Surveying data from more than a thousand players online, I tracked all the commons in Zendikar to see whether the contributed to wins or losses. In this series, I publish the results and check to see which of them are statistically significant. Today, we begin continue with blue and find out just how strong all of those two power flyers are in the format.

With the success of the Landfall decks in Pauper, I look back in time to see what could help me build my own variation of the deck. I find an option from Lorwyn which shapes the basis for a Landfall-inspired deck.

This week I'm on a mission to prove that casual budget Magic isn't trash Magic. My format is Standard. My limit is $10,00 per deck. My aim? To storm the Casual Room of course! I don't care about interesting decks or cool card interactions; all I care is winning. But can it be done with such a small budget? This week dear readers, I'm answering you that question.
