I decided to wait it out until roughly 6-7 hrs after release since it would be similar to Zen pre-release.
I had no problems whatsoever. Only problem I had was challenging W/B extreme deck with all the equipment you want and only winning one game due to him being mana hosed and losing by turn 5 and 6 both other games. Also receiving crap rares hindered my experience. Mordant Dragon and Amulet of Vigor is enough to make me quiver.
Overall- It was okay. I basically lost my interest in limited. Zen sucks, ALA Block is terrible, TSE is okay once in a while, the nix tix are formats I dont know. But I do want Urza as I remember that quite fondly.
Hi: I just wanted to comment I entered the WWK pre yesterday and had such a lousy experience I vow not to enter another pre-release event until Wizards fixes the lag issue. I had to re-boot MTGO three times while playing, due to the whole thig hunging up on me, and had multiple misclicks and delays along the games. I can't really point out my losses to any of them separately (went 1-3) but I'm sure they affected my gameplay quite a bit, and my frustration got me in a state of mind that really was not the best to play.
I had, nonetheless, some errores due to lag I can point out, such as enchanting a tapped land with a Zendikon when I wanted to enchant an untapped land (click didn't register), a block during an attack that didn't register either, and a couple of "attack-unattack" creatures, because I clicked twice and the lag was way behind to show it.
I was wondering if you could advice on how many players can the system really support for a smooth gameplay, as yesterday there didn't seem to be that many (about 1800 on the pre release, plus maybe 500 more on other rooms). Thanks a lot.
Boogie.
"The widely acknowledged flaws in Tribal Classic, namely the ease of shoehorning in decks and the lack of a sideboard, are still there, and the instant someone puts a prize up, those flaws will be blown wide open once more. It's all very well asking for individual cards to be banned or unbanned to make the format more viable, but that simply isn't feasible as a means to solve the shoehorning problem." -AJ_Impy, 9 September 2009.
Like you said, the calculations don't factor in the resale value. I strongly believe that WWK boosters will be selling for 3 or less in the near future. I'm not the only one who predicts this either, it's going to be very similar to Eventide. Therefore the prize payout is actually far, far lower.
Now that is just silly. You said your piece, others said theirs. No need to be hurt or defensive about it. When you state things as facts, others are going to dispute them. Particularly if they see your "facts" as opinions. So refute their claims but don't take umbrage because of them. When it is said and done it is all rather trivial in the bigger picture.
tbh i wouldnt be surprised if at this point more people came out running this stuff just because they're amused at all the articles that are being written about it
The Sunday night Pez tournaments use 3 round Swiss format (4, if 16+ players) with cut to top 4 (or 8, if 16+). When I was able to play, it was a very fun tourney set up.
It seems self explanatory, but if they still have cards in hand when you Wrath they lay another creature, recur something, lay a land, play a draw spell, play ANY spell. Basically, they can still play the game. Wrathing is a fair strategy because you can fight it or play around it. Discard, like land destruction, isn’t kosher in casual formats because it strips players of the basic resources they need to play the game.
That's not entirely true. Ben Bleiweiss used to build BoW decks for his Building on a Budget coulmn where BoW was the only rare, and they'd usually be around 15 tix IIRC.
Your right I thought I would have a counter for their spell but I think she needs to be removed. I stumbled on the card that should have taken her place after the article which is Beseech the Queen.
How is wiping the board more kosher than wiping hands once? People's ideas of kosher for casual is kind of absurd. Myojin wins the game if you have anything to follow it up; even just horde tends to kill them then.
you know this event was made for the fun and enjoyment of a handful of people.ive played classic many times in the casul room but only invite those that i see are like-minded. This event isnt for everyone. If winning 4 tickets is really that important to you, dont play. The tickets were a nice gesture of hey you did well. Not way to go you carpet-bombed everyone else playing youre the master. Also no offense but if you have problem with this statement, too bad.
power will never see play in this event. It will be legacy before too long but as long as wizards is not going to spend time to do a banned list ill do my own. And if you dont like it. Dont play. Not that i have ever seen you there....
Once again, I'm sorry if my opening paragraph offended anyone. I meant it as a simple introduction to the situation, and not a direct attack against anyone.
Also, it may not be obvious, but Paul and I are not the same person, and I can't really respond to any comments that are responses to his comments.
I didn't mean to be critical of you. I've appreciated your contributions on this website and I think constructive discourse is always the best way to solve any social issue. At the very least you have created a platform for this discussion.
I felt the need to comment because I saw some inconsistencies with what you wrote and the description of the events in the comments.
Shard is certainly welcome to make his tournament private (not sure if he'll still get the sponsorship), but as long as he doesn't, he will have to learn to cope with competetive decks.
What is going to happen when we get power and this format gets 10x faster?

those decks have a goof base but unfortunately have no new cards after planar chaos...enjoy updating, though it is 4 colors

I missed that one, thanks for pointing it out.

tbh then they shouldnt be surprised if they arent listed in round 2...just saying
No Brainspoil!?
This is getting deeply ironic. :)
shard, youre going to die from high stress levels, seriously. first kabira evangels, and now this, euheuehueue.

Hey now... women don't play magic

You’re not allowed to respond to criticism on the internet: duly noted.
