• Mill Strategies in Extended 2010 - Introducing "CRABORB"   15 years 18 weeks ago

I have to say that I'm a little surprised this deck went 3-1, for a mill focused deck it seems a little slow on the condition win though i guess if you get those traps in a good draw it works better

  • Rogue Play - New Kids on the Block Part I   15 years 18 weeks ago

I was actually talking about Rite of Replication at that part and was saying that you can't use it on shroud creatures because it says "target creature".

But maybe I used the wrong words there. Thanks for noticing and for the comment.

"Of course you cannot Clone shroud creatures"
One simple comment: You CAN clone shroud creatures, Clone doen´t make any target.

Thank you for your articles, its a pleasure to read them.

  • Mill Strategies in Extended 2010 - Introducing "CRABORB"   15 years 18 weeks ago

First of all congrats on the 3-1. I am surprised you take such a dim view of Gaea's Blessing. When I played extended regularly, Glimpse the Unthinkable and crew were extremely popular. Gaea's Blessing stopped all that cold. Vs decks that did not run the mill strategy it was STILL a great card main. Assuming mana stall, blessing helps. Assuming Flood Blessing helps. Assuming discard Blessing helps. There are lots of situations where the ability of the card regardless of its built-in trigger is really very good. Yes very occasionally it will be a dead card but so I bet are lots of other utility cards. That is how I view blessing. Why it gets such hate for main decking it, I do not quite understand. What is even funnier is that people were boarding in Extirpate to deal with Blessing. I considered that to be a win for the antimill since it meant having to maneuver to get that to work. And the focus on it left room for MY sideboard to work.

Ps it hasn't quite been 2 decades even if you were at the pre-release of Alpha at the Grand Masquerade Ball in Philly in 92. :D (I was not, but friends were.) For most of its been a bit over a decade and a half.

  • Surviving Commander, a Timmy's Guide   15 years 18 weeks ago

Hey I enjoyed this article despite being only fractionally a Timmy. I think you give some great advice. As someone who rarely plays in the multiplayer room because of the antics of its regulars I am all too well aware of the various things that can go wrong in a commander game. (Or any ffa game for that matter.) I tend to dislike playing with or against decks that "go off" because they exclude everyone from the fun and are generally a pain to play. Other combo decks not so much. Synergy cards like Kiki-jiki do not always create infinite combos. Sometimes they just create fun interactions or "soft-locks". I much prefer to play with and against soft locks as they are a necessary component of magical tactics. Bringing Kiki-mite though not so much. Even though that one is actually fairly disruptable with an instant mass removal spell.

I was encouraged yesterday by my friend to go create my own commander game and I demured after he jumped into someone else's because frankly, I don't want to potentially waste an hour with people who may suddenly say "Sorry guys gotta go!" or "time to end this...boom!" with a combo that ruins the game. So I decided not to. I was a bit tired and feeling cranky already anyway and really just wanted to test the last deck I built.

I like your advice on keeping notes on your ops. Unfortunately that seems too much like book keeping to me but if someone brings something heinous I do remember usually. I haven't played ffa frequently over the last years to really keep track but some people stand out. Thanks for the article.

  • Tribal Apocalypse: World-Wakin' Meta-Shakin' Part 2   15 years 18 weeks ago

Yeah I referenced this event you speak of because I know how much that hurt you. It hurt me too and I wasn't even directly involved since I came back late from lunch (and pretty had already decided not to play.) I think we need to make it not worth the while of those who would crash the party to ruin it. Please let me know what you think of the proposal I put forth in my article.

    Seems great against the field.
Kor Firewalker seems great in your sideboard when WW comes around.
Maby even both of the Jace?! =p

  • Rogue Play - New Kids on the Block Part I   15 years 18 weeks ago

While on the stack, Auras are spells with targets. It is legal to change the target of Spreading Seas with Ricochet Trap

  • Rogue Play - New Kids on the Block Part I   15 years 18 weeks ago

im pretty sure ricochet trap doesn't work against spreading seas. since it's a permanent when it comes into play and then makes it's way onto enchanting it's target.

  • State of the Program - February 12th 2010   15 years 18 weeks ago

not to mention that, like Conflux, it's used in a number of Legacy decks

  • State of the Program - February 12th 2010   15 years 18 weeks ago

hmmmm, let's see a) you have to factor in the casual market, b) dont forget classic where progenitus sees play in both dream halls and oath oh and its mythic so automatic money there

  • State of the Program - February 12th 2010   15 years 18 weeks ago

howcome progenitus is 9? where is it used part from marginal hypergenesis?

  • Anything But - Extended Enchanting Week 6   15 years 18 weeks ago

well most would mean more than 50% of decks, which is not so

but more importantly in my opinion is why should people be punished because they have a card that is "expensive", not to mention every player's definition of "expensive" is just as different as their definition of casual.. not to mention the fact that with how the card prices flux you may have gotten the set for much much less then its current face value

  • Anything But - Extended Enchanting Week 6   15 years 18 weeks ago

But don't all of you realize that more Expensive decks will win more often and with better results? I prefer playing clunky decks because they are more fun and lead to more strategy and more even matches. and Planeswalker cards ARE overpowered. That's why they cost so much and why so many tourney decks use them.

  • Interview with a champion: MOCS Winner ceobry01   15 years 18 weeks ago

yeah not ur fault. you asked relevant questions - he answered how he wanted to - whether with a short response or long or completely off (e.g. the last question)

meaning that, the intro was good to add length ;)

No not multiple personalities lol. This was my original account name, just to lazy to change it.

I do appreciate all the comments about the coloring. I would also like feedback regarding the contents of the article. Does anyone find it useful or is it a waste of time? What are your guesses for the next part of my research?

  • Interview with a champion: MOCS Winner ceobry01   15 years 18 weeks ago

    hahahahahaha Ad Nauseam.lol

  • Interview with a champion: MOCS Winner ceobry01   15 years 18 weeks ago

Go through the archives please and see these exact same questions offered to everyone else in the community profile series, these were the same questions that i asked then too, and yet no one complained then.

My bad guys, next time, I'll ignore a successful interview series, and rewrite a novel for the person to answer.

  • Interview with a champion: MOCS Winner ceobry01   15 years 18 weeks ago

"J: Do you have any advice for MTGO players?

C: I played at the new card store in Louisville, KY, Bluegrassgames. Brennan Moody, the local PTQ organizer opened it recently and has 50 foot projection screens in the shop. He allowed me to hook up the computer to the screen and it really made reading my cards hard to do, since I had to sit so far away!"

?? Either he did not understand your question or you mixed up the answers or I don't get it...

Anyway, very short interview. Next time please more relevant questions.

  • Riddle me this.........   15 years 18 weeks ago

    ^multiple personalities? lol

well i was loving it until I came to that second chart at the bottom and the text is so small I can't read it

  • Interview with a champion: MOCS Winner ceobry01   15 years 18 weeks ago

If the deck wins against another deck even when played badly, well it has a good matchup :P

The article is really short though

  • Interview with a champion: MOCS Winner ceobry01   15 years 18 weeks ago

Why didn't you ask him about his Threads on the Noble Heirarch in the finals or his zero-cc topdeck for the win? He was outplayed big time and won only by luck. I really question his statement that the deck has a good matchup against zoo.

  • One Double O #29 - Wake up to Worldwake   15 years 18 weeks ago

great article, love seeing others ideas on how the new cards will impact the format
