She has fallen out of favor in extended due to the rise of DD/Foundry - and everybody being prepared for her. Unless a "big Zoo" deck does well this weekend she will continue to slide a bit. People are also continuing to draft M10 until WWK comes online due to its high money mythics so increasing supply is meeting decreasing demand in the middle.
Part of his point is educating people that crab *shouldn't* have value as a random lightning rod in a UW deck. Without support it very rarely will go the distance in a game that you would not have lost anyway (eg. when the opponent completely controls the board).
I lost three of my first four sealed Zendikar matches to Ascension, and it has always been hard for me to think about it rationally since then. But, I agree with the comparison to crab - at least whenever I can suppress my fear of flying angel hordes.
Actually it's because they don't start Beta testing the set online until it is released (ok, pre-released) on paper. They would have to spoil all the cards online to do Beta testing any earlier.
Rathi Assassin is in Nemesis and the "promo set for Gatherer" (whatever that is)
I've never seen the card, but it sounds like it's been coded as a promo card somewhere and Momir is picking it up.
---
I play a LOT of Momir (Momir and the occassional draft or sealed is all I really play anymore).
Personally, I always try to start on the draw. I feel that the slight tempo loss in the early game is more than made up for by the extra card and the (occassional) opportunity to blow out your opponent after he hits his 8 drop with your own 8 drop sweepers.
I always make a 2-drop, the mana production creatures + guildmage make it worth the drop for me.
I may or may not make a 3 drop, depending on what creatures my opponent has pulled at the 1,2,3 drop points.
Then a drop from that point on. Getting to either 8 or 9 (depending on the 3 drop decision).
My base deck is 18 Mtn (for all the burn/pump creatures), 13 Swamp, 9 Forest, 10 Plains, 10 Island
I always try to get at least 4 mountains into play, the rest I decide on as needed to power any abilities that come up.
There's a Conflux/Dream Halls deck that's coming together in (paper) Legacy, where you resolve Dream Halls, cast your first Conflux off of any spell in your hand, and then start chaining together Confluxes along with various win conditions -- e.g., Conflux for Conflux, FoW, Hellkite, and Cruel Ultimatum or the like. I suspect the spike in Conflux comes from people putting it together online to play with.
lol I'm done after this because I'm sorry you don't get it either, I'm not arguing I said right there that I agree with your assessment (at least in part), my intent is to clarify my point to help people understand the point of view of the article
You did not understand what I meant. Do you want me to argue with you the validity of both decks on the casual room or can you just acept that both decks were just not what the oponent wanted to play? Why would you bother with the post above? What is the point? both games ended because the oponent did not wish to continue. Why acuse his deck of being turney combo and make up reasons for the garruk quit? So you can make a post such as the above and we can bicker and argue without a point? Your reply is once again an example of what I am talking about. I am not here to argue and if you respond with justification of why your card is ok and his isn't, you just don't get it.
Can anyone explain why Wizards has chosen to have a lag between the release of new sets on paper and then online? Why don't they just release the new sets simultaneously between the paper and online worlds?
Oh man...i plan my weekends using the events calendar you post on fridays...i feel like such a loser for saying that, but my wife works weekends so there! :-) Anyway, hopefully it'll be back next week for our viewing enjoyment.
being a huge fan of prismatic I'm not sure I'd go as far as to say that there's no challenge to it... sure the land base of any prismatic is a no brainer after 4x fetchs and 4x duals, but go beyond that and there is a bit of a challenge to fit cards down to the 250 min.. and if that's not challenging enough there are always several players, like myself, who play prismatic singleton, which adds more of a twist to it
If I am in a good board position I'll often make 6, which hase some great dragons anyway, instead of 7.
Also 8 has another "bad" buy for you.
The white 8/4 legionaire that says your other guys can't attack.
It's not an auto loss, but can be troublesome if your opponent has regen or something so he doesnt need to kill it.
And a Question:
Can anyone explain why Rathi Assassin sometimes comes up as a 4 drop.
I cant find it online anywhere, so not sure why he is in the system.
I tried asking a moderator but they didnt know either.
Which is good news for those who play constructed and want to play with the cards casually. The bad news being the commons/uncommons that are decent will be higher cost than their zen analogs which are dirt cheap.
I'm talking about a tournament combo not necessarily claiming it was card for card the deck. I don't see how you can even compare one card to an almost looped combo. It's not just the Thopter Sword that is the issue, it's also the fact that it came, as stated turn 1 duress, turn 2 duress, turn 3 combo. Clearly he's not running a singleton deck nor a casual one.
The second part of your argument is a bit out of place here as well. I understand what you mean and I'm not disagreeing. Someone conceding does mean a win. I'm not arguing that at all. I even said "Had I stuck with it the game would have been over in a couple of turns any ways". In casual games I concede all the time before I reach 0 or deck out or whatever when it's clear that I've lost. This is what I did here. I was simply trying to comment on something I've seen a couple times while playing Classic in the casual room and that has to do with people running tournament level combos or the all foil tournament based decks.
and jace is being wayway overvalued right now too. I doubt there will be any cards in worldwake worth more than $15 in paper or online. With no more than 3 being 10 or more. Not for the first month its out of course, but once the prices stabilize, the set is gonna be mostly junk.
The background of the list is what i had meant, the colors and not the list per se.

na, just benevolent unicorn is needed if your playing White already :)
When and why did Baneslayer Angel slip down to 42?
Blood Seeker would deter those empty the warrens, but it's too situational. NTM the fact that many times you'd get grapeshot to the face instead.

The Acolytes (Obsidian/Crimson) are the best pro-black/red hosers in pauper, IMO.
Thank you.

Why the jump for Conflux (the card)?

It would lower the amount of people who drive to show up to paper pre-releases, and paper is Magic's primary market

finally word on lifetime points, however now i dont feel my 5,000 points is anything close to a lot of people. oy! what are you doing to me wotc!
I always find making a 7 drop is scary.

heh.

I have no idea if i got blocked or not, i probably did.
Ok a couple things to clear this up.
