This is nothing preventing them from giving away more alt serras at conventions or other promotions. Price is only high due to rarity... if they ever give more away, instant crash.
Nice work on the artcle, SGC is solid in jund esp turn 5 with a garruk in play to untapp 2 lands for shocking damage to any would be blockers or attackers.
I feel SGC is a creature in a deck like jund that if you untapp with it in play chances are you just won
im sure when all is said and done whats really going to happen is the market will be repopulated with these old/can't get avatars and prices on some of the more expensive ones will drop, like wizards was tryin to restock the avatar econ
If you are actually able to sell these avatars (do bots buy them? most people and bots I have traded with don't)then I would think that choosing the alternate art serra angel would be the best choice regardless of playability just for the fact that you can sell it and buy whatever else you want. Obviously you wouldnt be able to sell it for full face value but still I imagine you would get enough to leave a few tix in your pocket and still end up with oneof the better avatars.
Dunno if you guys intended this but the beginning is a very weird sounding slowed down bit. Sounds like someone talking extremely slow under 30 feet of water.
Jace the new looks very good to me. Brainstorm for 4 isn't but being able to do it every turn is. The only downside is the 3 loyalty start which means you almost have to use the +2 ability to start it off just to get it out of bolt range.
I too long for good efficient land destruction ala Armageddon in standard. I would probably feel excited enough by such a card play the format again. As it is standard seems rather boring. In fact when I first found Realm Razer I did build a few standard decks to take advantage of it. Of course 6 mana brings them back when it dies isn't nearly good enough for any serious deck. But I still love Realm Razer as a surprise hoser. Actually I love most cards that dramatically change the board in some fashion. More of those would be awesome.
Good stuff. I've been busy lately and not able to get on MTGO. I look to your article every Friday to see how things are going. Thanks for all your hard work this year!
Nice article, but waaay too long for just one round. I think the main problem here is that you go through all the plays that obviously shouldn't be made and discuss all of them.
Maybe you should just stick to the right play and potentialy the other viable play options and explain why you did whatever you did in that situation, rather than going through a dozen or so, irrelevant/close to impossible scenarios.
Also, Nice deck! must be nice when mono red goes that well.
You managed to draft a good pile (albeit slow - you were arguably lucky not to come up against a truly aggro deck - Steppe Lynx/Geopede/Surrakar/Welkin Tern/Trusty Machete/Adventuring Gear, which there are a LOT of in ZZZ) - and you certainly played it well, so can't really argue.
But the BLACK! Look back at the picks - even the picks influenced by your passing good black - and you could have put together an amazing B/g sub-ally theme deck: P1 Trusty Machete, Sell-Sword, Bala-Ged, Mind Sludge, (Survivalist), (Boa), (Basilisk), Bite, Crocodile, Soul Stair (narrow choice over Cobra Trap? black has more great recursion targets), (Tanglesap), (Scythe Tiger); P2 Boa/Torch, Marsh Casualties, Gladeheart, Hideous End, Surrakar, Tatters/Gorger/Scope, Gatekeeper!!, Halo Hunter!!… Blood Seeker; P3 Marauder, Scorpion, Hexmage, Crypt Ripper… that’s 22 (very) playables even without cutting either colour or worrying about your last 8 picks. Virtues of going colourless first pick?
I think worldqueller could be a good fit in that deck. It takes care of a lot of problems, and can lock out a game sometimes. The only noncreature in the deck is journey, so it wouldnt be a problem to use its abilities. And a 4/4 is pretty good too.
I'm sorry for the english as always, I actually try to improve it with the comment left here. Yeah, jace will surely be a nice addition to the deck, but its such a tight decklist I could never cut anything.lol
"So here u have!"the broken english actually makes it better lol.great vids.this deck should get even insaner{?,is that a word} with some number of worldwake jaces
Regarding the raptor.... The play was definitely not to wait to kill it until he was in his attack phase!!!
Vines of the vastwood kicked kills you there. as does primal force (or whatever it is called). you needed to kill it on your turn or after he had already attacked for the turn.
"Supposedly the worst two colors in Zendikar, right? But I played green/blue in the release event I won and the two headed giant we kicked butt in at the Pro Tour, so you can certainly have a decent deck in any colors."
To be fair, as I read it, most pros think that green/blue are the weakest colours in *draft* (barring over/under drafting of course), while many consider (at least when it was cool to write about it) green to be one of the strongest in *sealed*. not sure about 2hg though. Even if it was a 2hg draft it could have very different dynamics of card evaluations.
Woohoo I only need to get 9 points. Then I will own all the avatars.

Felidar Sovereign and Test of Endurance belong in the SAME deck for added consistency.
is that you?
BIZZZZZ
man are you some irish!!!

I am "quite the writer"? Now that's a truly terrifying thought.

Happy Holidays!
Hehe I am surprised you didn't show this one to me in testing. You build some very fun decks.

Good article. This is a way better analysis of a draft than the ones you pay to read about on Star City. Keep up the good work.

That was long. I had to skip some paragraphs. Too much. Seemed like an intense game.

i liked this as much as the first, you did a great job of getting the deck and matches broken down

It may have only been Round 1, but that was 6000+ words of top notch analysis on a single match. I'm happy to wait to get analysis of that level.
Countering a Harrow is one of my favorite plays. When I'm the one countering it at least. :)
Its about time they did something like this to get players something back othen then just more digital cards.
Good report Hammy. I look forward to next weeks. - Joe

What is this practice to leave rounds 2 and 3 for later? Is it sooo difficult to put it all in one article?
