I once tried Polymorph as well but found out that relying on a single card is always problematic. Yes it's fun when you Polymorph a Progenitus but most of the time that doesn't happen.
But I must say that the new Sphinxes in ZEN are great creatures. One has shroud and that means a lot and the other can be used in two ways: Either you pay the kicker cost and draw some cards or you don't pay the kicker cost and send that Sphinx Sovereign to the graveyard only to resurrect it the next turn with Sharuum the Hegemon.
By the way: Sensei's Divining Top is banned because it was creating time problems in tournaments. And no, unfortunately you can't right click and auto yield in real paper Magic !! :)). So it was banned and as a result it is also banned on MTGO.
Am I missing something on the "pain & guilt" (point 2) example - no longer being able to use looter during combat due to the removal of stacked combat damage?
Can't you just block, use the looter ability during Declare Blockers, and have him do his 2 points of combat damage? Were you describing something else or am I missing something?
Haven't finished reading the article but just wanted to clarify on this. :-)
er not its not. What is missing is the correct linkage on the cards and the count is messed up because the page he used to generate the deck miscounted because of this.
This is why 100c is such a great format; you can innovate and perform! With all of the dual lands and the new Zendikar fetch lands, colors should not hold back many decks. Also, the format allows for many cards that might be considered slow in normal competitive formats to perform. If it is playable in draft, it will probably be playable in 100c to some degree. So, "[d]on't be afraid to try new ideas." :)
I remember when I heard about the bannings I wasn't playing at the time because V3 didn't work on my old pc. I was still pissed off about it. Top maybe broken in classic but no one cares... it certainly was never broken in extended.
i have noticed thatsme[a few times],zoranc, and kerrick have all top 8'd with tempo tresh .idk siewca the deck looks hot now.good article what were the cards that you sideboarded in/out for the matchups?
Wow. Ok that was a good read, if only because the interviews with the Developers really engrossed me. So I guess I can live for 1 week without more SotP. But if you aren't back on the following there will be consequences. Have fun in Austin.
Fantastic article, I found the deck lists and breakdown very useful. I can now see where my elf deck has gone wrong and what cards to think about purchasing next.
@Paul - I tried counters first and found it inferior, but since I only played 5-6 games with that list it could be down to poor match-ups / luck. I like your deck title suggestion!
@Shardfenix - Yes, Journey to Nowhere > Curse of Chains, good call.
@Katastrophe - I considered the Transmuter but couldn't find room, and then there's the danger of Polymorphing into him. I think that's a different deck really. Sensei's Top could help a lot with Polymorphing if you go Extended.
@Anon - but I really like the Ambassador. And he was great when I actually managed to draw him.
@rfeltrin - Nice Extended list. I especially like Call of the Herd and Wurmcalling. Might dig out my old deck with those beauts in.
@pierrebai - Yes I considered Empyrial, but I wanted creatures I could hardcast if necessary, and that would have been too much of a mana stretch.
@Mysticknight232 - Yes, like Paul said.
@laughinman - Thanks! And I've decided to renege on my offer to donate my collection, sorry :p
@Anon - Haven't looked at Summoning Trap closely, will do so. Although if going greed I might ditch Polymorph and try Elvish Piper for something completely different.
No SotP next week? Impossible! Is this because we didn't comment enough? Damn you and your absences. What if we promise to recruit new readers? This is what I get for counting on weekly columns.
I don't know. Maybe an Austin report will be good. There could even be some interesting MTGO news there. I can't wait!
(In a more substantive comment, I would counter that sometimes a change is more than just circumstantial and indicates a larger funcitonal shift. And that rather than just an emotional response of various stages, a legitimate logical break is justfied. For example, I think they are clearly designing more toward casual players than hardcore gamers now, and if you were one of the "Magic is the new Poker" people that's a legitimate reason to protest and ultimately leave.)
I have piloted the same deck through 2 daily events aswell and went 3-1 and 2-2. Lost to affinity, mirror and dredge. Both DE's I could have done better if i didn't make a playmistake in a crucial phase in the affinity and mirror game.
I love that thresshold has a place again in the meta cause its a deck i really love to play since my first steps in classic.
I changed the Vendilion Clique to an echoing truth in my list and now playtesting with some graveyard hate main deck to see if our game 1 against dredge can be better.
if your gonna go green you might wanna try summoning trap as polymorph 5-8? although it does not actually morph creatures, it still cheat big guys down the field. just an idea.
I played against a guy with Mulldrifters, he evoked, got the cards, my creature, and then it got sacrificed. The effect of sacrificing goes on the stack, so it doesn't matter who gets the cards.
I just threw together this deck, and I have been having a BLAST playing it. One thing to note is that when you have a Genesis Chamber in play, always place the triggered ability of Confusion in the Ranks on the BOTTOM (Click it first), otherwise your opponent will control your newly cast creature and get both Myr tokens and can take back whichever creature you just took; Learned that the hard way.
I lost once to a deck which cast Sway of the Stars and wiped the board clean and powered out an easy 7 damage for the win, I had the board controlled by sacrificing his Krark-Clan Ironworks to itself to avoid him getting it back, which he did himself when he drew another before Chaos in the Ranks resolved.
I once to a guy who maindecked Krosan Grip in a crazy 250 card deck. In general people in the casual room don't main deck enchantment removal, and oblivion ring is interesting as it comes into play and triggers the Confusion in the Ranks meaning you get control of their O-ring.
Are 4 Daze, 4 Volcanic Island 4 Tropical Island and 1 Strip Mine, where are not "counted" because they are sold out at the MTGO Traders store.
The list provided is a full 60.

I always look forward to your articles. Keep up the good work when you go to Austin, and show everyone how great Magic Online writers can be...
Right click, select auto yield, done.
Another fine article on the subject. :)
er not its not. What is missing is the correct linkage on the cards and the count is messed up because the page he used to generate the deck miscounted because of this.
The main deck is missing 13 cards.
If i remember right, the top got axed not because of power level ramifications, but because it consumes so much match time.
Glad you're having fun with the deck man!

Ah, I wondered about that - couldn't remember if it was Extended or something else it's banned in. Oh well.

Unfortunately unless a miracle happens at WotC Sensei's Divining Top will never be extended legal. :( So classic it is.
Check replays and how this games went. Like mulligans in both games from my side. Anyway nice artcile .

Many thanks for all the comments guys!

ps. I also beat siewca_wiatru on my way to 3-1 :D
I think this helped me a lot in a completely unrelated to Magic way. Thanks.

Which name won?
