It was great playing with you and i'm happy you took the time to put pants on. Getting stuck on two lands and not a Lacerator in sight was heart breaking. I'll be by Thursday if you want a rematch.
Hey it's something different, I can explain how it works but its really you have to see, the deck plays out so situational and no one game is the same with it. Literally its route to winning isn't defined but its draw, or what you have in hand, rather your ability to play with what you have instead. A very statistical deck relying on math and skill over the shuffler, definately not for newer players!
40% of the North American profit, not total worldwide profit. That's a big difference.
Additionally, I think we all recognize that there are pros and cons to both paper and online play. It's hard to draw a direct comparison because although the game is the same, the *gameplay experience* is very different.
the ptqs matter exactly to one person, the winner. and yea the prices are cheaper but that just makes it even harder to go "infinate" since your draftings are worth crap. seriously i drafted 5 dual lands in the m10 nix tix and i made 7 tix on them. in the paper world thats closer to 60 bucks for the same cards.
also i didnt say that we were being treated terribly, but full retail for a digital product that you have to jump through hoops for to turn into actual money seems wrong when the 2ndery market value is way off from full retail paper packs. and if im not mistaken modo is giving wotc a very very large portion of there income and last i heard was rakeing in about 40% of their income from worldwide sales.
if we are keeping wotc and magic afloat how about some treasures for us as well? they dont even have to be the same. they could be med 1,2,3 or ipa mvw cards that are hard to find.
and no pr2 isnt the same that is us finnaly getting fnm and player rewards cards that paper has had in place for almost a decade.
You're complaining that the hidden treasures were paper only, and how online players are being treated terribly? COME ON, WE JUST GOT PTQs and player rewards, not to mention all the cards are cheaper.
I've been soured to ever playing paper Magic in a competitive scene again. I've only played in a few sealed events at a local shop and all were horrible experiences. It's fun to hold cards, but I can't play as well as I would like to when I have to babysit my opponent and enforce rules they either intentionally or unintentionally don't follow. I shouldn't have to feel like a jerk for having a problem with my opponent accidentally (or not) drawing two cards and looking at them. Watching people change lands from tapped to untapped after casting something so they can cast their next spell they didn't realize wouldn't be castable with how they tapped originally and saying, "this is what I meant to do." People have weird understanding or old rules such as tapping a blocker to use an ability and removing it from combat. The list just goes on and on.
I enjoy playing against people who understand the rules and try to win fairly. I've never had that experience playing in paper (not over the course of an entire event anyway). I'm glad you enjoyed your experience. It reminded me of why MTGO is so much better (for me) than paper Magic ever will be and also why I'll be stuck in a tizzy next year trying to figure out the best was to play MTGO with the macbook my school is forcing me to use.
Yes. I bought the platinum Angel Avatar for 28 (I hope that's close enough to 30 to satisfy you).
As a collector I like to have complete sets, and the fact is that I owned a copy of every Avatar except that one was an ongoing annoyance to me.
Sometimes it's not about the usability because if it were, there would be no market for foils either.
SGC is a card that already existed in playable quantities, and then M10 dumped a ton of them out there. Just a ton.
Compare it to Pithing Needle for example, which has come down drastically as well. Pithing Needle still goes for 2, because every single deck can potentially use 4 of them in the sideboard. Vs Siege-Gang Commander which is sometimes used in particular decks that may not even be good right now. But that's just how much M10 got drafted. And it's still happening.
SGC did get a boost when Warren Instigator was revealed. But that card doesn't look to be dominating in Standard and it's Mythicness will limit the number of SGC's needed to pair with it anyway.
I think this will make 100CS more accessibility for some people. The deck building process truly is a headache if you just start from scratch using the client's editor, so it was a great idea to show everyone some useful tricks. It was also smart to simply link to deck files for the five decks you discussed. And as always, the card groupings you use are a nice organizational tactic for comprehending these long deck lists.
blastoderm might be worth worth considering, as it represents an awful lot of damage for its cost, even if you factor in the vanishing. sadly, however, he is pretty janky.
rogue elephant also fits the bill for the three power, if not the shroud. it works well with grim discovery, which i assume will at least make an appearance in pauper. for more land recursion/beatdown, you might try harvest wurm, which is kinda fun combined with the onslaught cycling lands. they'd provide a tuch of card draw, which doesn't hurt.
Scythe Tiger is not a card I want to be playing, as I do not want to be getting rid of land for a 3/2. If the opponent then goes Diabolic Edict, they just cast the best Stone Rain ever.
Nimble Mongoose is not legal in Pauper.
Naya Hushblade is great, if I can ensure that it will always have shroud, which is not easy in this deck.
Finally, the extra G is worth it, as most creatures in the format are 2/2 or 3/3. This allows Centaur to trade with the 3/3 or win against the 2/2.
"I do wish I could find a good, cheap creature with shroud and three power" Sycthe Tiger from Zen, Nimble Mongoose, Naya Hushblade. Also, I have to question whether Jolrael's Centaur is better than Humble Budoka - I've never played with either in constructed, but an extra G for flanking doesn't seem worth it.
I'm glad it was helpful. I debated whether it was worth it to add such a long section devoted to it, but I know how helpful it was to me when I figured it out on my own. So, I decided it was something I should share.
It's strange. Many of the top 8 decks I've seen have a very low land count to what I would expect. Maybe they know something I don't, but I don't like playing any deck with a land count lower than 39.
i agree it is a pile. the only reason is because fatman's piloting skill can pull it off is why it is in top 8 ,don't let him lie to you

I agree on siding out the PTEs for purge was bad, but at the time I felt a t2 blitterblossom was deadlier than a t4-5 mistbind clique.
Thank God Reveillark is gone. People will have to think about having something go to the graveyard again! Woo!
Still, I guess if you were sick of Jund, this is its polar opposite. But I still say good riddance.
i stand corrected. at least i got the number right

You never take out path against faeries. You have to be able to stop mistbind, scion, and sower. Purge isn't even a good sb decision.
Stop using casted. It's not a word. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/casted

I suspect you are going to invest them in Me3 duals :p

props

vampire hexmage also kinda neuters ravager et al, which is nice.

Yes, the Vendikar fetch lands and the landfall mechanic in general is going to have a huge impact on 100 CS.
Most new sets have less than 5 cards that really have a huge impact on 100 CS, Zendikar has at least 10 in my book
