Get reprinted Duals? If I still played paper magic Id jump at a chance to get more. Other than that probably wouldn't care. In the same vein though a lot of the treasures are great for the new players but not all that exciting if you are a serious collector or have your 4x Vintage sets since they are played/worn from all reports. Of course who doesn't like cracking good stuff? But on the other hand the downside is the rarity and the finiteness of the possibility of getting something interesting as opposed to just out of print. I can't see Master Editions generating the same level of interest offline as on and I can see people being very upset about the "devaluing" of their $40-$80 cards.
Now Id love to see some promotional stuff online (just the possibility is exciting) but I am not upset that they don't plan anything like that. It really is a different game. We aren't second class magic citizens, we are aliens. :P Well maybe not aliens but colonists. Can't expect the same standards for both. At least I don't think we can and still be considered reasonable. Magic Online has come into its own with PTQs but thats as far as it goes imho.
Nice work. I can say I'll appreicate this kind of tool as I seem to come up with so many different decks in any given week. Most of them are casual, but still, a couple here and there try to be competitive.
I mean, I understand why they wouldn't use the paper treasures that zendikar uses. Could you imagine how unfair it would be to only have a few dozen lotus and moxes going around mtgo? Or what they'd be worth in comparison to the paper versions?
That being said they could release some online specific treasures. Foils or alts of rare cards on modo.
Hamtastic is referring to the fact that there will not be bonus "treasures" included in random Zendikar boosters much like the paper release witnessed. This means no Candelabra of Townos replacing your lands in MTGO Zendikar boosters.
Zendikar is still full on for release on Oct 19th, or so according to WotC site.
Quoted from article:
"The amazing Zendikar "treasures" not coming to MTGO, as stated by Worth Wollpert when I asked him about their possible inclusion in MTGO's Zendikar pre-release/release events. Tres horrible!"
Can you please explain this to me? I just don't understand the english that well and I'm also "more of a noob" in MTG/MTGO, so what that means? Zendikar not coming to MTGO? :P
Heh, can someone clear that out please?
Thank you! :)
Nice article although I feel you are missing a very important card in your angel deck Ancient Tomb. I run 4 of these in mine and it speeds up the deck by a turn. Turn 2 morphed Exalted Angel, unmorph on turn 3 and you get the lost life points back.
Have the "event" packs come with a randomly inserted card... make 999/1000 of them basic lands... the rest awesome cards! That way when you open your event pack it might contain a treasure... and it will easily not be usable in any events! problem solved!
I'm very dissapointed that WOTC is not having some sort of MTGO version of the MTG treasure in the Zendikar boosters. "Hey we are going to start treating you all like 1st class citizens and give you ptq's buttttt then we are going to give MTG something stupid cool and you still have to pay full MSRP for your boosters like always." Screw that I'm making a big stink about this if they don't do something for us.
Another fine article LE! I enjoyed playing against the Cleric Daisies even though it is a rough ride. The Giants tribe near the end there also has Desolation Giant which is as you know one of my champion cards. Talk about abusable mass 187 cards (Though the Myojin is much more fun and easier to recurse once you have the mana its slower getting to that mana.)
All these decks could be interesting, as white has a lot of great cards to support the daisy tribes. Also I'm a huge fan of rebels particular with Conspiracy type effects to make them into tool fetchers. Thanks for the fun times.
This article amuses me because my version of MTGO has gone a bit loopy and only shows the art for planeswalkers. For all other cards I get a blank black rectangle. "Repair" had no effect. One day I will do a complete reinstall but I keep putting it off.

EDIT: Now, I've got this in my browser, right next to magiccards.info and my Youtube account. This thing is gonna be so nice.

And they won't be one in 720 packs...
Ask the paper people if they'd trade the "priceless treasures" promo for a paper version of the Master's Edition series...
It seems like a stupid move to try to be vague like that when they could have just confirmed extra cards to drum up sales online for Zendicar.

Great article. Love it all the way.
I had hoped to see some Rock or another midrange deck, as I am on the lookout for such a deck right now :)
